    You want that engine to be heated to about 200°-220°F before every start. As soon as it starts, it will cool down slightly from your preheat temp, then it will slowly heat up as it runs. It will start faster and last longer if preheated to 210°f each time, no matter the day temp. Lockable hemostats snapped on the carb feed line first, so it doesn't "hot wick" fuel to the carb and then hydrolock. Make a soda pop can heat shield to place around the carb to keep from overheating and wicking fuel into the motor during preheat.. Once you do this and do it well, it will fire right off when touched with the Rotostart. Your Rotostart driver, battery, and engine will thank you. Bought my first Savage 25 RTR when released in August of 2003. Wish I would have kept it. Might need a new one.

    Love to see a Savage in such weather conditions!
    just a little tip for next time: if you break in a nitro engine in said weather conditions, its best just to leave the heater on the head so it can stay warm.
    its not like when you start the engine the first time, the engine is radiating heat.. needs time to actually warm up specially when idling(break in).
    this also accounts for the glow igniter(the battery) so the plug stays lit, and the fuel can be burned and the engine can slowly get up to temp :)
    but, still good stuff, what do you think about these new savage rims and tires?

      @dgrc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it wasn’t till after I realised that I can use the sock and the glow igniter at the same time.
      I haven’t really been able to experience the tyre and wheel combo fully yet as the weather was bad. But I do like the look of them very much

    FYI it is not good to break in a nitro engine if it is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit !!!

      It's also not good to drive them in 100 degree heat with humidity, tuning is impossible

    Hey man, how's it going. I saw a few guys putting a couple shims in the 3-speed tranny, which stopped any play - I know some guys bust the third gear teeth because of this, and also because of a direct jump from first to third causing a lot of torque (possibly) on the third gear. Anyways, you're probably aware of this. Holla if you want me to find where I saw this.

      Unfortunately man I’ve only done the break in so haven’t managed to get her out for a proper run. I’m gunna take it tomorrow, so I’ll deffo keep an eye out for this. cheers 👍🏻

    Where can I get a nitro rc car for drifting?

    • @dgrc
      @dgrc  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think there are specific nitro cars for drifting, but you can just put a set of hard plastic tyres on any nitro car and that will make it slide easy enough. Plenty of fun aswell 😃

    • @nathanmcdowell7306
      @nathanmcdowell7306 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dgrc any recommendations for brands? I saw yokomo drift rc cars but they are sadly electric. Is there much difference between petrol and nitro? Can nitro and petrol engines be modified as in like supercharging them or putting a better crankshaft in? Sorry if these questions sound stupid but I'm very new.

    • @dgrc
      @dgrc  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to only drift then electric is definitely the way forward. As for nitro engines you can change fuel and tune a carb to make it go faster. but if you run the engine to lean it will shorten the life and most probably blow the engine up.
      There’s not really upgrades as in supercharges and turbos, mainly cause nitro engines rev up to 30,00 + RPM anyway
