This is a marvel of engineering and a true centerpiece of anyone's Transformer collection. Still wows today. It is an incredible piece of Transformers history. BTW, I really appreciate the comparison shots with the other Optimus releases. It not only helps you appreciate the size of the figure but it allows you the influences of the previous toys on this amazing robot. Very nice indeed! I also appreciate you letting us know about all the amazing music available from the original series. Hearing those tunes alone brought a huge smile to my face. You can tell this figure and this app are a true love letter to Transformers fans. Nice!

Great video! This thing was too expensive for me, but I do understand the appeal. I just hope you can get him to say "As I believe the earthlings say: lay it on me, man!" I didn't see that one in the list of phrases on your screen. 😂

You can get two different transformers in battle with some You can get Optimus prime and the leader of the villains and both of them will fight each other, but not actually hit them but basically use their weapons but you know they’ll like react and talk to each other
You’re the first person I’ve seen to review this and mention that the plate behind Optimus’ head is removable. It’s always annoyed me that the marketing videos and material had the plate missing but in the reviews the plate was always there. I never liked the plate there but would be happy to remove it manually after a transformation.

Head plates that automatically retract are available and replace the existing one.
Great video, and actually a good display of how the programming new moves into it works. Very nice. Though even if I had the money I would never buy this. It's honestly not my sort of collectible, much like the giant Unicron figure. It's cool it exists, I'm glad Peter Cullen did fresh voice work for it, but I had to save up for months to afford the MP Beast Wars Megatron, I wouldn't be able to do that for this guy. Still, glad it looks good.
Would be cool if his hands could open and fingers individually articulate. That said, I can’t help but think this is a fun gimmick that will get old after a week and incredibly expensive. Instead of this, I’d rather buy two MP-44s (at the original price). I see this item constantly on sale for hundreds off. I can’t help but think there’s a huge stock of these that they can’t get rid of.
It would be fun if the hands could articulate but I also get why they didn't do that, because it's kind of an accident waiting to happen in terms of when this thing moves or transforms or whatever. I also think it would have been another step towards it being perceived as a more traditional TF toy, maybe.

Those kicks in the king fu sequence were incredible haha, was not excepting that sort of movement or stability at all. Previous reviews left me feeling this was a total miss, but you’ve really got me interested and trying to find the spare 2.5k aud hahaha
I have NEVER gotten the appeal of this. I mean you have a toy that you‘re not supposed to touch!😅 I think it‘s more for the robot-guys than transformers-fans.

Ha, you’re not wrong that it’s more robot than toy. Tbf though, you can get some hands on action with it using the in-app programming actions, but that isn’t talked about much. I go through it in the vid.

That's exactly what I'm getting from this, as well. I mean, does it look kick-ass? Hell yes. But the whole point of getting a transformer is to transform it, and I mean with your hands not with an app or your voice. Sure, it's a sweet idea, but without the tactile feel of actually _transforming_ it, I'd quickly lose interest. And with it slumping down like that when it de-powers in robot mode, I'd likely just keep it in truck mode on a shelf somewhere, even assuming I had a shelf sturdy enough to hold the weight (which I'm assuming is fairly hefty considering the original MP-01 Optimus, which I have, has a lot of diecast on him and weighs close to 5lbs).
So yeah, while this is a really neat idea, this is more for the robot/RC collectors than the transformer collectors, especially at this price-point.

My one fear is the app - how long will that get up dated and what happens in 5 or so years when it is no longer supported? He really does look amazing though, do you think you will you do a follow up review with the trailer?
The app is terrible, the controls for the movement is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
Can you control them from the app of the app? They’re on like Optimus prime you can
Biased review I feel like, you didn’t say any negatives.
What about it constantly getting stuck during animations and needing to reboot?
What about its lack of display position in robot mode?
What about its terrible driving/moving controls?
Might as well do bumblebee or Starscream.

It certainly seems fun, but it's that hefty price range that does it in for me. If it were a fraction of that price, I might have somewhat considered it, but it's also one of those things I dunno if I'd dabble with on occasion, as well.

I think the feet will get damaged if Prime turns 180°. I also wish it has rust-proof die-cast and screws
It’s possible. I can see a few scuffs on the bottom of the feet already.
I have feet protectors on mine. They are now widely available.
Just make sure you don't actually switch this thing to "Evil", like a Krusty Doll.

I’ve had it in hand for a few months at this point and it already regularly comes out for an afternoon here or there for enjoying with my son, so I think on that basis, the novelty isn’t about to wear off any time soon.
