Hi John, This is a great tutorial-simple, concise, and to the point! I have a question about using the alpha matte feature when there are multiple alpha matte layers. For example, consider a Venn diagram with four overlapping circles. How would one make the intersections behave differently based on the number of circles overlapping? Thanks
Hello thx for the video but when I do this my video turns into an audio one and the media player says it doesn't support this kind of format plz help quick thx
Is there any export setting that takes advantage of the GPU or perhaps just uses the CPU more? My export is projected at 6 hours, and I have a amd ryzen 9 x3900 but task manager shows it's barely being used at all. I get GPU might not be used much, but why is my CPU barely even moving?
@@bip5577 No i didn't find the solution. But i needed more quality so i ended up exporting my video in ProRes 422HQ. The only reason i asked for image sequence export setting was that the rendering of my video took a very long time but i had to compromise it for the quality

Hi there, In my experience it has always been better to render directly out of After Effects. No Media Encoder. It seems to render quicker without any errors pop up.
Hey !! Do you have any idea about the color management settings? Should we keep it on or off? I'm experiencing color difference on importing psd files to ae and after rendering it in mp4 or mov the video seems darker. Any idea how I can fix this?
Hi, John. I finished exporting a green screen and it looks good, but now I wanted to edit the audio a bit in Premiere Pro since I'm not sure if AE can do that. It's a little off topic so I'm sorry but would I lose any quality importing an avi, mp4, or mov file to premiere? Also, can the render settings you showed in this video also work for Premier Pro? I'm sorry if my questions make no sense... it probably shows my non-existent experience with AE and PPro lol
Hi! Thanks for your comment! Actually, you can import After Effects compositions directly into a Premiere Pro project. Just open up Premiere Pro and go to File > Import. Then select your After Effects project file. Click import and a menu box will appear where you will be able to choose which compositions you'd like to import. Once selected and imported, the composition will be created as a dynamic link file that can be edited in both After Effects and Premiere Pro. That way you can edit your audio inside Premiere Pro while keeping the original quality of the edits you made in After Effects. Hope this helps!
Cool education materials! I have a question, does it worth to learn AE in 2022? With crazy advancement of AI developments like Open AI and the Google video, maybe this knowledge of video editing could become redundant in 1 year? What do you think?
Thanks! That's a good point and it's something you, I, and the whole industry is thinking about as it develops. I think Ai is going to make our lives a lot easier when it comes to video editing and doing redundant tasks. But I still think video editing and creating animations in After Effects will still exist as an art form no matter how advanced it will become. When it comes to working in the video editing / motion graphics industry, I think there will be a shift from just being a designer / editor to more of a creative strategist. How to use Ai to create videos and designs that tell our customer's stories the best ways. But that's just my .02 We'll just have to see what happens! ☺️
Hello I do not have a mac can I still export to prores with a pc? Also, I think you need a card like GeForce. I only have a Vegas that came with my ryzen 2200g.
Hi there, First add the composition to your render queue and then click the button that says Queue in AME to the far right side of the panel. Then in Media Encoder click where it says H.264. This will open up the export settings window. Then next to format, change it to QuickTime, and then under preset choose Apple ProRes 4444.
Very good video! But I have got a question: when I want to configure (1:36 in the video) there are no Apple ProRes 422HQ option. However, I set the format to "Quick Time". What should I do? (it's possible because I didn't do it on PC instead of Mac like you)
It might be that the Apple ProRes codec isn't installed on your computer. You could try installing it via the link below and it may appear in your export settings. support.apple.com/kb/dl2033?locale=en_US Alternatively, Animation is a solid 2nd option rather than ProRes in case you aren't able to install it. Hope this helps!
I cant tell much of a difference between the default quicktime and the 4444hq but the 4444hq has a lower file size than the default, does that still mean its gonna be higher quality?
Hi, I wouldn’t recommend that based on TH-cam’s recommended encoding settings. You can check out my video below for more information. Since you are in AE, just kick it to Media Encoder for more H.264 settings. th-cam.com/video/lmSS25o-xuI/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps!

thank you thank you thank you!
thanks a lot man
When i render the video gets kinda pixely will these settings help with that?

Little question: How would you convert the quicktime file to mp4 afterwards without losing any quality?
You can't, mp4 and many of those compress the video to become smaller size
Use handbrake
thanks bro
well done

No it doesn't. That is only for playback inside After Effects.
