I've watched literally every one of the Phawx's handheld gaming PC videos since 2016 or so, back when he was talking about the likes of the GPD Win 2. Back then, practically every game required some sort of script or .ini file editing just to get the games to run okay'ish. I thought handheld PC's would forever be this way, stuck in this niche rut, with us forever editing text files to get games to run... Man, how far we have come since then... For all the new Steam Deck, Ally, etc, fans, you have no idea how long and how many kickstarter scams we endured just to get to this point. It's worth giving Stop, Drop and Retro's old videos a watch, in particular everything on the Smach Z and the PGS; those videos will give you a new appreciation for where we are today with handheld PC's. Also, I can't believe that old Smach Z website is still up...
@@crestofhonor2349 had a feeling. He said medium preset here. I can't imagine it running at 1080p medium would last for very long. But I'd like to be surprised
The steam deck is amazing, i went into it buying a $400 handheld to compliment my rtx 2060 laptop but now a steam deck is all i need to get my games in. Unless you play multiplayer games not available for the steam deck, I dont see a need for a windows machine in my life anytime soon. Also totk yuzu almost stable 30 fps with mods and cryoutilities is pretty damn good.
Yeh we need a dedicated The Phawx video going over the improvements of devices with Phoenix to compare their fps in numerous games before and after the Official Patch to get an idea of the uplift.
only thing missing I would have personally liked is some info on battery life test with your setting and maybe at 40Hz/40fps; Amazing perf review though, thanks!
Maybe I just missed it but where does Phawx actually mention the constraints used for identifying his recommended settings? Is this intended for 30FPS or 40? What average power consumption / battery life can we expect with those settings when applying the intended frame cap? The settings showscase runs uncapped, which maxes out the power consumption and doesn't offer any answer to those questions.
I wondered just for the R&C, how is the dimension loading impacted by running on deck and gpd in holoISO /deckOS vs both running and Win11 with directstorage implemented/enabled
Good to hear its a great port, i played on ps5 and got bored pretty quickly but i just Dont think this game is for me. The devs tech being this optimal bodes well for future games from insomniac and nixxes (not that they have missed yet).
This is gonna be amazing to play on my Sony CRT monitor @ 1440p 90hz, those colours will pop and look spot on, and then If I want to make it portable I can just move over to my UMGPC, (gonna be a GPD Win-Mini for me when it comes out).
Crazy how the deck standing strong against the 7840u
For sure

Steam deck is the best!!! Better that ps5 and 4090😃And already much powerful that 5090 😁
@thomasspavka2014 bro what
Just goes to show how far some good game and device optimisation can go.

Insomniac/Nixxes showing the industry how to do a great PC port!!
INSOMNIAC is the goat
@@Tantuhard Insomniac makes the work of art... and nixxes turns it into an even bigger piece of art.
Is this a Nixxes ported title? They did a fantastic job on the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider reboots as well! Those guys know how it's done :)
So bad Ray traced shadows/reflection, crashes, low framerates, low res textures, is considered a great PC, bro why are you smoking?
@@WheeledHamster a steam deck is running a ps5 game really well and your saying its a bad pc port nah man its the opposite of that
I love how the Playstation game ports generally run beautifully handhelds
I also covet that purple SteamDeck!
Been playing Days Gone on Steam Deck, and after a few tweaks it seems to run rather nice. A solid 30fps, hordes and all.
Rog Ally can play this at 1080p native, without upscaling, medium preset, at solid 30 fps
Awesome, but for how long?
@@christianr.5868 Depends on the preset

Interesting to see what the official AMD Adrenaline 23.7.2 7840u/780m drivers do to performance over OEM supplied drivers for the GPD WIN 4

1600x900 is now my preferred internal resolution with 30fps target.
Better visuals...
Phawx im having a deficiency from your content! Youre my favorite youtuber! Please make more! ❤
Subbed ❤ Maaaaaan but my dude Ratchet and Clank and Spiderman have such good motion blur though
Never played this in the past, need to get it for my handheld!
Texture filtering was not working on the build you tested. It was patched today and now it is fixed.
Can you make a video comparing some GPD handheld with an oculink eGPU to a desktop running the same GPU?
Works amazing on the ROG Ally 👍

K, the question about the intended frame cap is mentioned in the next section and is 30

BIG flex. Very envious.
Absolutely brilliant game , loving it tbh , I'm on 60% now, and running in low at 40fps , perfect for me
I am having such a good time with it on PC.
Hi-res textures didn't load, buggy looking Ray Traced shadows/reflections, low frame rates, crashes. So this is a great PC port?
Did you have any issues with the SSD in the Win Max 2? I read online that its a really cheap and bad one that usually fails within 2 years.
Yes it sucks, lost all my data
Whats the battery life like?
it appears there is a huge loading time diffrence when playing on SD card, migh affec HDD also
Hope you do this with Starfield
Lmao, to cover how this isn’t going to work on these devices?
@@evernote1568yeah I love the deck but I can't imagine it's on the starfield fevs minds when optimizing for PC. It's really heavy
Absolutely loved this game on the ps5! but I would really wait for handhelds becoming more powerful to run this comfortably at 60fps.
I dunno. Turning off ray tracing has no impact on my performance, so not perfect
nixxes should have ported last of us.
Well, where do I get SteamOS 3.5? 🤔
Now please Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls
Can defo emulate Demon’s Souls 60FPS, kinda moot.

it's because they test it properly before releasing it, that's why it's steam deck verified on the same day as the release day

I just viewed Digital Foundry's analysis of the game. You seemingly have a very low bar for what constitutes being "AMAZING".
Truth be told the port sucks much like most 2023 releases, needs DLSS in order to ensure good performance and has frame drops all the time.
