I’d argue the longer distance you drive the L322 TDV8 the more it makes sense. My 4.4 TDV8 gets easily 600 miles in a tank and averages 34mpg no problem over a long run. It’s the shelter town journeys that really make it expensive to run.
Love the videos. If you are only getting 18mpg there's something wrong. Even a trip through Wales , using sport mode to overtake caravans and not hanging around I averaged 28. Over the last 2 years I've averaged 29mpg overall (according to the cars trip) on 20,000 miles. Agree with all your other points. I'm constantly impressed with mine and frequently underneath it! Check your brake pipes, especially those running to the rear in the nearside sill. Replaced all of mine just in time, they were so rotten that a mild pull to get them off the clips and they snapped .
Hi Dave, thanks for the info! MPG is probably down to the fact my journeys are often less than 3 miles! I recently reset the trip computer before a journey to London (1.5 hours) and got 32 MPG and has since settled around 25ish for the past 1000 miles but I'll keep an eye on it! I just had an MOT at an LR specialist, and asked them to check brake lines as i've heard that these can go quite quickly, their feedback was that they looked fairly new so, hopefully, they've been done by a previous owner and its just not in the history file! it passed MOT, although i did get advisories for the front lower control arm bushes, so guess what i'm up to next weekend!
Hi Steve, yes you heard correctly...... I SHOULD have DAB but for some reason I cant tune to any channels 🤦🏻♂️ I'm guessing a dodgy aerial but I never listen to it so haven't investigated!

Very short journeys, typically less than 3 miles, twice per day. I get around 30 on a longer run.
