Anxiety is defined as a state of excitement accompanied by a shortness of breath (Friedrich Perls).
      1) Stand still and take a deep breath.
      2) Say out loud, "It's going to be ok."
      3) "You are not alone in this feeling."
      4) "Everything changes, all you have to do is give it time."

Yasiel, How are you? To feel better reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. When taking a walk, at office, in school, when reading, before sleep etc observe your breath sensations. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes and prayers. Senior Counsellor.

I mean is it a normal case? I do also have ADHD maybe it has some link?

What you rite about seems like an acquired habit of allowing your attention to be diverted by whatever enters your consciousness. I suggest practicing sustained attention on tasks even when a thought or idea comes to mind. You have taken the idea of multi tasking to a non useful place. Best wishes Dr David Purves

It's sad to say I've went through all of these doors, my grandmother is a prime example I have watched firsthand on what happens when anxiety takes over. I want to get rid of it. I feel like I'm at an end I've tried everything in my conscious to get rid of this problem (with the exception of therapy or medication) I hope this last ditch will resolve these deep rooted issues.

I've always had anxiety but it's just gotten worse and worse over the years. My mom says I have to go see a doctor about because she thinks its controlling my life. I don't like to interact with other
People unless I'm close to that person I can't say anything to anybody because I'm afraid that they'll make fun of me and think I'm annoying or not even notice
Me. I don't like it when people look at me I feel like they're judging me and thinking I'm stupid. I can't stand talking I front of people, I hate vehicles, and I don't like going out in public or riding a bike. I'm 13 and I'm too afraid to ride a bike so I guess it really is controlling my life and it doesn't make it any better that my moms boyfriend makes fun of my anxiety because I freaked out because I was too afraid to ride a golf cart and my mom didn't even do anything she just laughed with him.

Just say it's ok, I used to have aggressive anxiety, it's like you just lose hearing for a bit and you tense up. Then you get lost in your thoughts and when someone touches you or you snap out of it you are hurting someone and don't realize it. It was a scary thought but now I found a hobby I do all day and it calms you down. Try it, I hope you can get rid of anxiety because most anxiety isn't from the brain. Good Luck😋

Maya-Diy the best thing to do is to escape from whatever bad situation that is making you feel the way you do, by either taking a walk, or going to a comfort zone - A bedroom - or a relatives house. Then take some time to think about the situation. Take deep breathes to help calm down! Hope this helps. May I ask how old you are?

I don't care what people say, anxiety as far as I'm concern is a brain disorder, I have had this for 7 years now, it has got worse and worse, started with just a panic attack for no reason, then several weekly, then daily, was then diagnosed with GAD, after a year i then started to notice i was getting OCD, my anxiety has spread throughout my mind and thoughts now like a virus to where i can't even think straight anymore, taken all kinds of medication and fuck all has helped.
I am fuming to think that millions and millions of people live with this disorder worldwide and they STILL haven't got to the bottom of it, oh here's some drugs, hope they help now on your way.
My anxiety went through the roof when i first started taking Citalopram and haven't been normal ever since, they didn't tell me oh antidepressants can make your anxiety worse before you get better, that's all you need when you are already suffering with crippling anxiety, more ANXIETY!
All i can say is hurry up and find a fucking permanent cure for this shit! what are you researchers and scientists doing?
Any anxiety sufferer will tell you they have some days where its not so bad and other days when its crippling and even the anxiety sufferer is left wondering why, how hard can it be for scientists to figure out whats going on with the body between the good days and the crippling bad anxiety days? how hard can this be? wake up! pull your fucking finger out!

123456789alejandra1 Anxiety is a heightened sense of threat. How can you sleep if you feel threatened. Anxiety is unlikely to go away by itself. You need to challenge it. Why start to do that. I suggest www.mood-control.com it only costs $1 to start. Best wishes Dr David Purves

Since this video is right on every single thing that I'm going through . I need help but this anxiety has came out the blue from me and I've never faced anything as scary or horrible in my life. I've also had a hard life but nothing as bad as this .
If I walk down the street and for example I walk past someone I don't know , I assume that person has harmed me and get phycotic thoughts. It's like my brain is arguing of delusions and facts .
I no longer have a social life at 24 as I think if I go out something bad will happen . If I have a attack I get chest pains and just wish it was the end of the night so I could sleep. then I worry about the next day .
I've had a hard life growing up in a rough councill estate so I'm not the hissy type and this scares the shit out of me . I hate it . It's only getting to the point it's unbearable .
I don't like leaving the house , in case something happens .
I even get it if a car goes past with its window down my brain makes me think he's thrown acid over me and stuff like this . then I'll think about it later on the day and get another attack.
I'm.not used to being scared of anything and now I'm scared of everything . My family don't know as they will think I'm.nuts if I speak out.
I don't know who to go to for help I'm unemployed and can't afford counselling.
I also have ADHD and I'm not sure what the effect of having both is.

You need to reach out to someone. I was very young too and I am almost 42, and my parents don't completely understand but they try. Your parents will too. If you don't feel comfortable talk to someone you know loves you and that you trust. You must get help. It's so difficult living with this disorder alone. Best of luck!!!

I am very confused if I have anxiety, for example I need to head to cheer and I like 20 mins away but I need to be there earlier for me to feel calm. My parents don't understand that I need to be there on time, so they take their time. I end up panicking thinking I am not going to make it on time, I start to worry, I also loose control. Then I start thinking bad about myself. My mother doesn't understand that and yells at me for loosing my cool and raising my voice, and I don't even know I do it. Please someone tell me if I have anxiety..

I wonder if the modern way of life, with its various conveniences and life saving advances, somehow made us focus/ruminate more on the things and thoughts that may perhaps be more trivial from a historical perspective, given our neurological ancestry.
Like Freud said, the price of civilization is neurosis.
As I've gotten older, this condition seems to be more acute.

    • @mjjae8122

You're probably just intimidated or nervous because they're your boss, however, if you tend to generally get nervous like that in other social situations you might have social anxiety.

I see this was posted 5 years ago, any way that you still have information for me on how to get rid of my anxiety? It’s taken over my life. I cry myself to sleep almost every day and I have convinced my self that I really have lost my mind or that I have a severe mental disability. I went to the ER room the other day and they say that I’m healthy that it must all be in my head. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist two days from now but I’m living in a hell. Plz help if you can. 😔

@@erishiawoods3098 How are you? You maybe under medication .

I am pretty sure I have anxiety. Literally I can't stand it when I am not in control. I get scared to talk to people. Weirdly enough I am in band and Color Guard and performing in front of big crowds doesn't scare me really bad. I get scared when I have to play by myself in band class and I have a small band. I don't like people looking at me...because u think they are judging me. I literally have had anxiety as a 3 year old. I am 13 now. At three in preschool I would cry when my mom left. I would scream. I basically had panic attacks. I had to do rip school for it. Rip school is where they take whoever you are ''attached to'' and put you in a playroom with other kids and that person walks out of that room. What he said I can relate to. The biggest problem is there is no way to tell my parents about my anxiety. No I do not have panic attacks but I get scared. I hid so many of my feelings. I am pretty sure I have anxiety. And no I was not told by a doctor at 3 I had anxiety but that is basically what it was.

Victoria, perhaps the more important questions is: do you feel unsettled, wobbly or on edge. Typically depression and anxiety go together. They use similar unhelpful thought processes.

    • @victoriabateman3415
      @victoriabateman3415 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Victoria, I can help with that. Your nervous system needs a bit of re-calibration but it sounds like you also need support an guidance. I have a closed Facebook groups that will help you get started on feeling better. It is called the panic pit stop support group. look into joining that and it will get you started on the journey to feeling great.

Is Anxiety when you panic when you are over thinking something?

    • @MinixDim
      @MinixDim 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Not necessarily, often times we want to give our problems a label like anxiety in this case but remember that some things are you attached to your personality. If your personality is where you overthink something or if you start panicing while others wouldn't have a problem, then that doesn't mean you have anxiety but rather that you have a ''bad habit''
(But don't throw the whole anxiety concept away!) I sadly don't know you as you do yourself so I can't be a 100% sure but i felt like telling you this and maybe helping you a bit.

I have also experienced anxiety and panic attacks for years and years, but I decided to look for solutions and try different types of techniques. After a lot of researching and trying, I put together the techniques that work best for me in a video. These techniques have helped me to combat anxiety and panic attacks in the most effective way. Take a look, try it out, and let me know, if they help you as well. Xx
