I bought the same one and is soo nice. I did not mount it on the wall though since it was too flush to the ceiling but I have no kids and is very steady. I got a lot of compliments and it made my room look so nice.
Thank you so much. I put my two Billys together over the weekend and came here to figure out how to join them together. I really wish had watched your video first--would have saved me at least an hour! Well done.
Thank you for a helpful and positive set of instructions. I have two very small suggestions. 1. Use a shelf laid on the backing, between the sides, to marking a line for nails. It is automatically parallel to the top. 2. Many Drill-Drivers are now very powerful. Always set it to a low torque setting to install screws in the side panels.
common who needs a instruction for IKEA shelves🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣they are like Duplo and they stands complete alone without drewing on the wall its only good when you had statues with tons of kilos but when you put normal things in it dont screw it on the wall
@@Endo-uu8mo If there is any chance whatsoever a small child or any pet who likes to climb might come by them and any adult looks away it's worth anchoring to the wall anything that is possible to tip forward.
Hi order from Ikea spare parts. You need one 100402 and one 100644. They fit into each other as show in vid. Hope that helps, Ikea will post them straight to you
This video was very well done! I especially liked the links that you posted to purchase the connecting screws...I couldn't find them otherwise. Thank you!
Thankyou for this very clear instructions. I managed to assemble my bookcase but was confused with the small metal clips that the shelves sit on, wasn't sure how which way they slotted into the bookcase for shelves to sit on 🤦♀️ but I can do it now 👏😀
That was a great informative video. Your instructions and tips were clear and very useful. As soon as IKEA gets their Billy cases in stock I plan to get a few.
Hello, Can you provide the size of the connection screws (in mm) that you are using to join the bookcases together and at what heights do you recommend putting them? Since the width of each bookcase wall is .75 inches (1 1/2 inches for 2 bookcases together), should I use an M6 40mm connection screw/barrel bolt?
Where do you get the screws you used to join the bookcases together? I don’t have any spare from other IKEA shelves. What do you ask for in a hardware shop?
Joining screws. I told one of the salespeople what I was trying to do at Ace Hardware and he took me straight to the place. There were two sizes. I think I may have gotten the too small size, but I know where to go so it's not a problem. Good luck.
Great video. Just curious as to why didn’t you use the connection face stip to hide the seam. And make it look more like it is all one long bookcase? I like the idea of those joining screws.
This looks really good, though after wrestling with my Billy bookshelves, I've found that if I so much as look at them the wrong way, they'll chip and break. Wondering if anyone else had this same experience.
You get what you pay for, you won't find a better price point anywhere for the quality. If you want something that is gonna last for generations get bespoke hand made, and pay the price

I would suggest the back panel BILLYis already slim it would go down. Well if you attach unit to the wall possibly can work without back panel but still I would put-it there better safe than sorry
Thanks for great video. Sorry guys I don't understand anything about drilling😅: the L bracket that we screwinto the wall, is there actually no screw that goes into the Billy?? Thanks

Are all the holes suppose to be align to where you have a lot of flexibility of how much distance you want the shelves or are there only certain spots you can place the shelves? Not all the holes are align on mine is it defective?

I'm still trying to find the joining screws you used. Do you have exact sizes and a link? Here in the US, the shops that carry bolts and screws (Ace, Lowe's, Home Depot) only have a very limited selection of unusual hardware.
The audio was kind of hard to hear when you described the screws that join the shelves together, what are those called? And do they come with the Billy's?
Thanks man, this is the perfect informative no-nonsense guide I need. Much appreciated

I'm using the M4 Ø 5mm 31-40mm for the Billy 40x28x202cm
@ Can you provide a link to these?
Wow, great instructions, very thorough, thanks so much.

The best of the tutorials we watched! Thank you.
Can you do a video of you setting up the Billy corner unit
This is what I want in my living room
Joining with these screws i would suggest joining them in the back row and doing it under or over a shelf where you cant see them.
Good thinking
Excellent video from one content creator to another.
I have just assembled one Billy following this video. Thanks and greetings from Berlin, Germany

So that’s how u join the bookcases, i was wondering, thank u, nice video

Thank you for your clear instructions. I just have one question, how do you join the corner one to the bookcases either side?
Thank you. built 2 bookcases in less than an hour. didn't read instructions.
What size drill bit did you use for the connectors? This was such a helpful video, thank you!
5mm drill bit. same size as the holes.

This has been very helpful. What are the dimensions/details of the joining screws you use to connect bookshelves?

This was super helpful. Didn't even look at the instructions booklet, just followed your vid. Thanks, well done!

How do you line up and attach the narrow corner bookcase to the ones on each side? I don't see a video for that.
Ikea sells a Billy Corner Kit.
@PP FlatPack Thank you very much Sir.
Awesome. Was great to use the PAX videos for my wardrobes, and now similar for the billy bookcases I am going to build.
Look like you find the right channel. Thank you for watching
excellent ideas, thank you!
Excellent vid-THANK YOU!

Just built my shelves today. My floor(laminate floor, basement level) is uneven, and my shelves are all twisted. Will buy some shim tomorrow.
What size screw did you use to connect the bookcase to the wall?

This looks so much easier to assemble then the Corona bookcase
Thank you! This was very helpful.

These look cases pretty strong? I had a couple shelves brake just from the weight of my books.
Great info. Just a bit monotone. Thank you.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ! makes it faster and EASIER !!!

What do you use to hold the shelves together and to the wall at the top? Do you have links?
great video, do you know if the background panel is necessary? can I avoid mounting it?
I would suggest the back panel BILLYis already slim it would go down. Well if you attach unit to the wall possibly can work without back panel but still I would put-it there better safe than sorry
Be careful when using joining/connection screws when you drill the hole it may shatter the veneer as it did mine
whats the name of the screw to join both bookcase and what bracket to use to secure to the wall? thank you
great video. how did you do the 45-degree angle bookshelf in the corner?

Is there any other way to stabilize it WITHOUT screwing it to the wall?
Nail the damn thing is another way as long as you can figure where the wall studs are.
Prayer. Nothing is impossible with the love of Christ.
Use something heavy at the bottom.
great video! Thank you! :)
Will these bookcases hold the weight of books?
I can’t find this shelves anywhere in ikea store now. So I don’t know If I can add more shelves on this book case, and if ikea store sell extra shelves for this product or not.

Thanks for this tip. I have been building Ikea furniture for over 20 years and never thought of this tip. I put 3 pieces together yesterday too.
They are easy to built aside from the nails in the middle shelf and the occasional mdf accident... Great video though!
What hapepns if cant drill tonwall im moving into a new build so drilling can be done to wall until year later
nice one. looks lovly
What are the connection screws called that holds shelves together? What are dimensions
I'm in America. What screw and drill bit size do I need for this? I bought some M6s (5/16 bit) but the screws seem like they're too big...
You could also use plasterboard screws.

They also do them in 40cm width. Do the shelves on these 80cm ones sag over time with weight of proper books?

Is the corner bookcase just a regular bookcase, just narrower?
it holds also without screw it on the wall
My problem is I can't get the back flap on the small Billy bookcase; it flips in or out pasted the line like a screen door in the wind.
Does this have to attach to the wall? Like is it going to be too weak to hold books on it without this?
It's more a safety thing to stop the book case falling over and crushing somebody.
