Thank you for a helpful and positive set of instructions. I have two very small suggestions.
    1. Use a shelf laid on the backing, between the sides, to marking a line for nails. It is automatically parallel to the top.
    2. Many Drill-Drivers are now very powerful. Always set it to a low torque setting to install screws in the side panels.

I bought the same one and is soo nice. I did not mount it on the wall though since it was too flush to the ceiling but I have no kids and is very steady. I got a lot of compliments and it made my room look so nice.

    Hello,
Can you provide the size of the connection screws (in mm) that you are using to join the bookcases together and at what heights do you recommend putting them?
Since the width of each bookcase wall is .75 inches (1 1/2 inches for 2 bookcases together), should I use an M6 40mm connection screw/barrel bolt?

Can I remove the backboard of this billy bookcase? Have anybody tried before?

You can leave the backboard out when assembling, but it will leave the shelves a little wobbly. The board helps to stabilize it and keep it from going rhomboid instead of staying rectangular.

How tall is the cutout in the back of the bookcase. I know I need shorter baseboards, but how short should they be?

Aprox 60mm. Just take a jigsaw and cut off a bit more if you need. But most walls, especially in older houses, aren't straight anyway, so it's an irrelevant issue

I can’t find this shelves anywhere in ikea store now. So I don’t know If I can add more shelves on this book case, and if ikea store sell extra shelves for this product or not.

My problem is I can't get the back flap on the small Billy bookcase; it flips in or out pasted the line like a screen door in the wind.

Are all the holes suppose to be align to where you have a lot of flexibility of how much distance you want the shelves or are there only certain spots you can place the shelves? Not all the holes are align on mine is it defective?

I built these in the 1990s. They weren't well known, but very good way to create a library room.
