I laughed at Yoshi being anywhere but S. Yoshi is clearly the best character in the game being the fastest tied with his pink variant while also having tongue catch and one of if not the best star swings in the game with the only one that's most likely better being DK
100% agree that Yoshi should’ve been placed higher, and there are multiple factors that come into play. i know he isn’t the greatest hitter or pitcher, but he’s an excellent fielder, and i’d say his super is VERY proficient. it’s almost impossible for yoshi not to get on base, or at least in my opinion, and i’ve played for almost 4 years. not to say B is a “bad” tier, but i personally think he should’ve been placed higher.
I feel like you’re underrating Toadsworth. Yes, he’s not a great fielder or hitter, but used properly he can be great. One of my favorite strategies is to make Toadsworth and Petey Piranha my battery and just randomly switch them to completely throw off my opponent’s timing.

I knew a more about this game than I thought as a kids. My teams were basically B-tier and up, I would always have Kritters, Hammer Bros, Magikoopas and Yoshis for easy fielding with a few heavy hitter, obviously I still didn’t understand the chemistry system.

But just as I wanted to give up, the Blue Kritter hit a home run with all three bases loaded and won the whole game. I have dubbed this savior Kobalt the Kritter.

Peach's star hit doesn't get you a hit if you hit it to a female player in the infield (they are unaffected.) Took a lot of playing to understand why that would happen.
Tip: Pow Balls can actually stun floaters. You need to directly bonk them on the head with the pow ball. Hard to aim, unless it's a fly out. This is also useful in countering infield fly outs or a bunt cheese since a direct pow ball bonk doesn't explode. So, your runners won't be affected. Hopefully this helps you!

Blooper makes a really good reliever cuz his changeup can throw people off, but never use it more than a few times. Just one of those niche characters you could pair with a fast pitcher like Bowser
Also has chemistry with other really good characters if you have to stick him in outfield (can swap him and king boo if you're running wiggler and Petey)
14:09 The 3 bros are honestly different enough that they should be mentioned separately. Hammer bro is the balanced one, but his bat relies much more on landing the end of the hammer. Sweet spot sour spot reliant batters can lack consistency, especially vs pitchers with high control. Think characters like King K Rool, Toadsworth, etc. While every bat has a sweet spot, some are much more reliable to land than others. Fire Bro has the most power of the 3, although is weaker in other areas. He uses a standard bat, and is the most consistent batter of the three. Uses a more standard bat. Although getting home runs so consistently is a double edged sword, as buddy catches can catch home run balls. So many home runs can end up being many easy outs vs a skilled fielder. Boomerang Bro used the rang as his bat, but whats noteworthy is that he hits the ball in a curve. While this results on more foul balls than average, it can also make it trickier to catch with both a curve and high speed. Most of the time colors are just slight stat variations, but these three have more to them. I do not think just mentioning solely hammer bro is reliable.
This is a fair point but most of the color alternates are as different from each other as the bros are. It’s why we love red magikoopa but never choose green or yellow. When we refer to “hammer bro” we’re referring to the best version of him, which is fire bro in our opinion.

Toadsworth is excellent as like a real life “closer” role where he comes in and pitches the last inning if you’re ahead. Good luck as the opponent trying to figure that out when the pressure is at its highest. Shouldn’t get tired so long as the inning doesn’t go insanely long
This game brings back so many memories.. My dad got it for me as a gift from his trip to NYC. He was a P.E. teacher and his favorite sport was softball. I was never into sports myself but this game was so much fun, i loved the HUGE roster of characters that usually don't get to be playable and im just so happy that the game hasn't died yet.
I usually always played with peach and daisy so that's interesting. I also remember it was really satisfying to use suction catch as birdo or super dive as daisy. I havent played that game in forever lol but I remember that pitching as peach was so fun.
I love this game so much. Easily my favorite Wii game, and as someone who's played this game for 8 years, I think every character is fun to play as. If you just learn each character's assets and flaws, they can all be good and valuable assets to your team. And I've gotten a home run with ALL of them at least once. On one last note, when are we getting Mario Baseball for Nintendo Switch?
Finally I've been reccomended a Mario Super Sluggers video and even better luck its the apparent fanclub so I know there's more I can watch other then this. The algorithm has truly blessed me.

My friend and I always used King K as pitcher because of how fast he throws, so he never had to deal with fielding. He's particular evil against another player where you can just spam pitches and give them no time to react

Playing against actual people, all of the Magikoopas have a pitch where they throw it really high up off-screen, with it then falling down super fast. This pitch is extremely broken and hard to hit
Peach's pitching is excellent, but I feel like my opponent's infield manages to catch its star move at least 33% of the time - and I've never seen a triple from it and doubles are not as common as this video suggests.
Well if your opponent plans and gets two females to put at 2nd and short stop then yeah it's worthless, but if not then if you pair her and Daisy together you're almost guaranteed a point.
Not to mention Luigi has some terrible chemistry as well. Two people? I remember I was unpleasantly surprised when I saw that. Also Bowser is my favorite character, so I was a bit disappointed with him being in the low As. On the GameCube, bowser is an incredible pitcher as well.
Honestly i had a princess peach team i thought was the best in the game. Toads are op and you have a lot of pitching potential between peach and toadsworth
Please reconsider gomba F tier. Ball dash = Op at stopping steals. Same with Noki, nokis are honestly minimum of C Tier. Blue, Yellow, and Purple toad when starred 7 bat op. Blooper is good because of his friends with king boo and petey piranha Also low fielding stats in shortstops honestly help because they pop the ball up making an error allowing for double plays. Wario D tier. 1 friend and star bat is the worst. Easy B dash out. Diddy K D tier. star bat and pitch both very bad and predictable Yoshi B tier... he’s the best character in the game lmao. Starred he has 10 speed. so pretty a free steal every slow pitch strike. He has a tie for the best catching ability. Ignore the bad batting because if you use the star every time he has the best star hit. A automatic single with 1-2 rbi opportunities. After playing so much, daisy and jb star pitch isn’t that good. As long as you draft at least one flying character it is so counterable. i also thought peach was once good, but not sure if your aware, but peach’s star hit isn’t as good as you think. Any girl character including nokis isn’t affected by the love so you can switch them to your shortstops just when she’s up at bat as she won’t be dangerous to get a home run.
Thanks for the insight. We don't play with nunchuks, so a lot of the mechanics like stealing give some characters advantages that we wouldn't know about. I highly disagree with diddy at D tier though, he's a great outfielder with great chemistry. I can see the Peach argument, but switching the field depending on the batter slows the game down a lot, so I wouldn't do it. -Becket
@@MarioSluggersFanclub that’s fair for peach, but slowing down the game is kind of part of it. When you get 2/3 strikes swap pitcher to use captains star pitch to use 1 instead of 2 stars. Please change to nunchuck, the game becomes so much more skill based. When you first try it out though ban curves on pitching as it’s almost a free strikeout as battling is tough as it doesn’t auto line up. Especially with steals, this bumps noki to B-A tier
My dream team is, in batting order: 1. Yoshi 2. Mario 3. Peach 4. Daisy 5. Luigi 6. DK 7. Diddy 8. Funky 9. Purple Toad (always hits inside the parkers and sometimes even hits homeruns) The DK team in the outfield, and Peach the starting pitcher. Mario, Daisy, Yoshi, and Luigi around the bases, and Purple Toad as catcher.
Watching this video and seeing this list just makes me wish I took better care of my copy of Mario Super Sluggers growing up. Would love to see remakes or at the least new games with the same level of personality as the GC/Wii Sports games had.

This was the only Mario sports game I played. Got it for 10 dollars, best 10 dollars I've spent. Also, Petey Piranha is my favorite Mario enemy and I always pick him in any game where I have the chance. Nice to see they did my boy justice here.

As kid all I did was stack my team with heavy hitters only. Its easy to win games when every character is close to being guarantee a home-run

I’d put Yoshi in Low A, sure his hitting isn’t that great, but he’s versatile in any position and his pitching is actually quite underrated.

Playing against actual people, all of the Magikoopas have a pitch where they throw it really high up off-screen, with it then falling down super fast. This pitch is extremely broken and hard to hit

Peach's pitching is excellent, but I feel like my opponent's infield manages to catch its star move at least 33% of the time - and I've never seen a triple from it and doubles are not as common as this video suggests.
Well if your opponent plans and gets two females to put at 2nd and short stop then yeah it's worthless, but if not then if you pair her and Daisy together you're almost guaranteed a point.

I definitely abused Petey though, he's just tons of really good qualities, he also pitches the ball really fast even if his control is lacking
Not to mention Luigi has some terrible chemistry as well. Two people? I remember I was unpleasantly surprised when I saw that. Also Bowser is my favorite character, so I was a bit disappointed with him being in the low As. On the GameCube, bowser is an incredible pitcher as well.

Honestly i had a princess peach team i thought was the best in the game. Toads are op and you have a lot of pitching potential between peach and toadsworth

Same with Noki, nokis are honestly minimum of C Tier.
Blue, Yellow, and Purple toad when starred 7 bat op.
Blooper is good because of his friends with king boo and petey piranha
Also low fielding stats in shortstops honestly help because they pop the ball up making an error allowing for double plays.
Wario D tier. 1 friend and star bat is the worst. Easy B dash out.
Diddy K D tier. star bat and pitch both very bad and predictable
Yoshi B tier... he’s the best character in the game lmao. Starred he has 10 speed. so pretty a free steal every slow pitch strike. He has a tie for the best catching ability. Ignore the bad batting because if you use the star every time he has the best star hit. A automatic single with 1-2 rbi opportunities.
After playing so much, daisy and jb star pitch isn’t that good. As long as you draft at least one flying character it is so counterable.
i also thought peach was once good, but not sure if your aware, but peach’s star hit isn’t as good as you think. Any girl character including nokis isn’t affected by the love so you can switch them to your shortstops just when she’s up at bat as she won’t be dangerous to get a home run.
Thanks for the insight. We don't play with nunchuks, so a lot of the mechanics like stealing give some characters advantages that we wouldn't know about. I highly disagree with diddy at D tier though, he's a great outfielder with great chemistry. I can see the Peach argument, but switching the field depending on the batter slows the game down a lot, so I wouldn't do it. -Becket
@@MarioSluggersFanclub that’s fair for peach, but slowing down the game is kind of part of it. When you get 2/3 strikes swap pitcher to use captains star pitch to use 1 instead of 2 stars. Please change to nunchuck, the game becomes so much more skill based. When you first try it out though ban curves on pitching as it’s almost a free strikeout as battling is tough as it doesn’t auto line up. Especially with steals, this bumps noki to B-A tier

I 100% agree. From my experience I usually chose all of the girls on my team but I never choose Toadette or Baby Daisy cuz they’re just so bad.
My dream team is, in batting order:
1. Yoshi
2. Mario
3. Peach
4. Daisy
5. Luigi
6. DK
7. Diddy
8. Funky
9. Purple Toad (always hits inside the parkers and sometimes even hits homeruns)
The DK team in the outfield, and Peach the starting pitcher. Mario, Daisy, Yoshi, and Luigi around the bases, and Purple Toad as catcher.

new here but i loved this game growing up and no matter my team comp i always rocked purple toad. For some reason id always get homeruns with him great video will watch more for sure.

This was the only Mario sports game I played. Got it for 10 dollars, best 10 dollars I've spent.
Also, Petey Piranha is my favorite Mario enemy and I always pick him in any game where I have the chance. Nice to see they did my boy justice here.
