Was Magnifico/Chris just going to keep the wishes he didn't want to grant inside his tower forever? What's his original endgame? We know he isn't immortal since the prologue showed him with brown hair and by the time the movie's plot starts it's now gray was he just expecting his would-be apprentice to just blindly follow his instructions on which wishes should and shouldn't be granted?
Who even knows. There was so much that needed an explanation and we didn't get one. It'd be different if he was secretly using the wishes to gain power and that's why he granted so few, but nope. He just liked the decorations I guess lol Thanks for commenting!
He was safekeeping them, so nothing bad could happen to them, and he could always go back and revise a wish to see if maybe he judged it wrong or no opinions have changed
If Disney hadn't skipped the BEAUTIFUL love story between Asha and the Starboy, and the evil villain couple, Magnifico and Amaya, then I would have absolutely LOVED "Wish"!!! 😭💔💢
It is so refreshing that when something isn't good you give great examples of what could have been done rather than saying that it stinks and throw it away and that's it. Good stuff.
Aww, thank you! I find it pointless to just hate stuff without at least explaining why and what might fix it for me. It's just negativity for negativity's sake otherwise.
@@streamcometrue YES it really is pointless. I went through about a decade of having to listen to stuff like that and the saddest part is the people truly, truly felt they were being helpful just urging complete changes without explaining anything at all. (And the hating is just trained and conditioning for rewards)
My biggest issue with "This is the Thanks I Get" is that it sounds _too_ cheerful... There's barely any moments in the song that feel ominous or threatening, so it kinda fails at _being_ a villain song. It would have been great if it was cheerful and upbeat to match how he sees himself as the hero, but it felt more coincidental than intentional, and they didn't include any moments to show his darker side (outside of the lyrics being very narcissistic).
Fun fact: the first ever "villain song" featured in a Disney movie was a cheerful song with nothing ominous or threatening to it except for the character's intentions. It was called "Hi-Diddle-De Dee (An Actor's Life For Me)".
I know we can always make jabs at how you shouldn’t make too many sequels, but I actually absolutely adore all of the Tinkerbell movies. The journeys have actually stayed unique and true to the characters without feeling like it’s forcing them to be something they aren’t. Disney really lost touch with Wish and a lot of their recent movies in general.

I appreciate you watching and do hope to grow the channel more in 2025 as I upload more reviews.
That rewrite you described at the end is basically the broad strokes of the first Kingdom Hearts. Like, right down to Night on Bald Mountain being a boss fight and Mickey Mouse showing up at the very end. No joke, the weird Disney JRPG that people had honestly thought was a joke when it was first announced only to become an ongoing series of fantastic games with a mountingly overcomplicated plot that requires you to watch cutscenes from an MMO that no longer exists to understand half the plot as of KHIII, ended up being a better celebration of Disney's legacy over *twenty years ago*, compared with the movie *actually made to celebrate Disney's legacy*.
I like the franchise but never owned any of the games, so that's funny they actually did that! That's basically what I was getting at. While that's not how I would've actually rewritten the film, it was an example of one of the million things they could've done that would've honored Disney better than what we got. I'm happy to see from this movie, though, that so many folks appreciate Kingdom Hearts! Thanks for watching!
Ah yes, when kingdom hearts has a more compelling narrative because while DO NOT MESS WITH HRARTS OR DARKNESS YOULL CAUSE THE APOCALYPSE DUMMY may be a bit over the top, and thr magic me mechanics get waaayyy overcomplicated sometimes, it IS a pretty consistent motivation. Villains want to CAUSE the apocalypse, the heros want to PREVENT the apocalypse. Which at least makes the villains...actually villains.
3:47 YES that guy served to show the consequences of giving away your wish so well but the rest of the movie treated it so poorly it didn't last edit: 13:14 - i feel like dahlia is one of the better written characters? she's more endearing than asha and more consistent than magnifico
Other thing about wish which still upset me to this day is that there where scrapped ideas that could have fix the movie like Star was originally going to be a shaped shifting starboy that going to be a fusion between the genie from Aladdin and peter pan and i think was going to be a love interest for asha The queen was originally going to be evil like magnifico which could have been interesting given it would have been disney first evil villain couple And the whole movie was going to be hand drawn animation similar to princess and the frog there where other scrapped ideas but the point is that for some reason the movie change a lot during the production of wish like starboy was replaced by star because cute star merch ( which if you was me was wasted pontinal starboy could have been disney version of jack frost from rise of the guardians ) the whole villains couple was scrapped for some reason because i couldn't find a reason for why and the movie was not in hand drawn 2D animation because 2D animation is hard to make now a days Wish is like a modern day emperor new grove or chicken little because both had a lot of disney behind the scenes meddling that changed the movie so much that it no longer resemble the original movie anymore It makes me wonder what happened during development behind wish and what wish could have been unless in a few years after wish released there could be a swatbox documentary about the troubled development of wish in the future

Look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future! :D
Screw Bob Iger you can tell by his meddling that he did not want the movie to be successful Or the classic Disney villain to return or for CGI animation to evolve
Forever stuck on the "what could have been" with the Starboy concept... I loved your analysis of the soulmate themes and their implied personalities! Wish truly felt like the most "Movie: the Movie" Disney has made to date...
Hehe @ movie the movie! Yes, I avoided any information about Wish before watching it, so I don't know anything about the love story. Only that a lot of people are saying they wish the movie stuck with it instead of this version instead.
This was truly delightful! You honed in so precisely on what was going on to make this movie less than it could have been. would you consider reviewing some of the writers I find most baffling?
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! I really only review things that I feel like reviewing, but maybe one day I'll come across something that happens to overlap with the writers you're interested in, you never know!
I just had a shower thought, which is you know when Magnifico said that Sabino's wish can be to inspire a mob/revolt, and that more, or less basically happened, so yeah he was kinda right😅🤣🙃
You said you didn't watch the credits...does that mean you didn't hear "A Wish Worth Making?!" That song is ASTOUNDING! Seriously, please go listen to it if you haven't already, it's legitimately *so beautiful!*
I actually listen to "At all Cost demo" a lot because its so good and knowing thr og context of it makes it so much better. Its so weird how they tried to change the context of that song by one word
I really like your idea about what Disney could have done that would be more of a celebration of the last 100 years, but I'm worried that it would have ended out like Mickey's Philharmagic attraction at DCA. Donald tries to use Mickey's sorcerer hat and it backfires. He goes from movie to movie, like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Coco, etc. One part that drives me crazy is the Just Can't Wait to be King segment. When Simba's floating head sings about brushing up on looking down, they have him literally look down with his head! Disney is so far gone, they can't even understand their own lyrics anymore.
I hear you about them not understanding their own lyrics. I don't like the idea I threw out there, to be honest. It's not what I would've written. But I did want to make the point that they could have gone is a totally different direction if honoring their heritage was the goal. Using the characters instead of just referencing them. At least people have Dreamlight Valley and Kingdom Hearts lol Thank you for leaving a comment!
If you ask me wish upon a studio should have been a 1 hour and 30 minutes movie to celebrate disney 100th anniversary the original short was good but imaged what would a longer version of the short could have been like maybe more characters interactions between classic forgotten and modern disney characters maybe it could have been divided between 3 short storys taking place in the disney animation studio with multiple characters and endings the same way the short ended that would have been way better celebrations then wish
If Sabino turned 100 at the time of the movie, how was he able to give Magnifico his wish when he was 18? Does that mean that Magnifico has been alive way longer than Sabino? 😮
I'm very sure that they simp Magnífico so much, that it led them to create Lore and a lot of camera for him, they loved Magnífico so much that I feel like they forgot about Asha :)
I'm not sure if it's just me (and my habit of watching HOURS-long video essays), but the fact that you kept saying a video of only 30 minutes was somehow not short entertained me. I can't say I share a lot of your views on the movie. There are certainly other videos which cover the movie and line up more with my issues with the various songs and plot. (It is possible you didn't research the movie's development, though, which would colour your reaction to what they changed and what could have been.)
Thanks for leaving a comment! Yeah, I mostly approach my reviews according to the end product. It's like food. If I eat a meal and I don't think the peas taste good because they're too mushy, that's my review. I wouldn't research the meal to find out that they were going to use carrots, but bloopety blah happened, so they used peas instead, or the peas were of sentimental value, etc. Because no amount of additional context will change my opinion that the peas don't work. At best, it just reframes the decision. In the same way, unless I'm doing an essay to explore a specific theme, or there's something I'm uniquely curious about, I don't research a film just to review it. It taints the experience of what it is going into it blind, which is what I'm most interested in and how general audiences will receive it, versus how I'd see it with more context and how that impacts my ability to judge it at face value first. That might be the disconnect here, that this isn't an essay. It's just a long review. As an essay, it'd definitely be considered short lol
If you guys want something that is 2D, made with passion and deserves WAY more support then Wish, give Rise of the TMNT a try, even if you're not a TMNT fan. It's really good and it could use more support. OR! Watch Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. A Disney property with some ACTUAL passion put in it that could also use more support. Support GOOD 2D, otherwise we're not gong to see it anymore.
I actually liked At All Costs, to me was the best written song of the bunch only didn't seem to match what was going on and the characters singing it, like when they wrote it they had something but then it got changed and they kept it either way bc it was a good song and they didn't want to scrap it. I'm a Star on the other hand, terrible, lyrics make no sense, it starts with a question that is never answered, forced rhymes, they didn't even try with that song.
Yes! I didn't like it in the movie or for a Disney film in general, but it's fine for something I'd hear on the radio. I'm a Star doesn't work anywhere lol Thanks for watching!

With Magnifico the only time he starts acting purely selfishly is after he went corrupt by the book thanks to Asha threatening with stealing all the wishes and potentially blindingly grant many by using a power that surpasses him by miles, that power prompted him to rely on the book, as alone he was not able to beat Asha, was a risk he took to maintain order in his land, a risk that unfortunately bit him hard and took control over him, and everyone wrongfully end up treating him as a scourge that deserves to rot in a cell, especially that snake they now have as queen, while all get to enjoy all the goods he provided them for free, he's more of a victim than anything, forced to play bad guy in a story of an impulsive girl that only thinks in short term success at the expense of the future, much like most corpos and selfish greedy individuals nowadays
At All Costs was a love song between Asha and Starboy. It definitely doesn't fit in the movie without that love story.
"...Magnifico, which I'm tired of saying, so I'll just call him Chris..."
I'm not gonna lie, this made me chuckle. I love how much personality you pour into these, really makes your channel stand out
HOLY HELL WHAT YOU HAVE 298 SUBSCRIBERS? That's less than I have! What???
Thank you! If it feels like I'm pouring myself into it, I'm succeeding, even though I still have a lot to grow lol
I honestly wish Magnifico himslef had been a star that was once wished upon but he got disillusioned by humans. But yeah he had to be a villanious villain.
Yes, there were so many different and better ways the story could have gone!
And not getting the wish granted in one month... He said "I granted 14 in one year" that means he does more than 1 per month. And HOW MANY PEOPLE there are in Rosas?
We just see like 20.
At most 100 in that city.
"The ball room, where he keeps the wish balls"
I'm DYING!

Wanda Maximof: commits a dimensional murderer. Is forgiven because "we made mistakes"
King Magnifico: Hurts some people's feelings and kidnaps a star. Gets trapped in a mirror because LOL BIAS.

10/10 video
I appreciate that so much. Really! I hope to grow this channel by just being myself, so it makes me happy to see people enjoying what I put out so far. Double stars to you!
I'm A Star is the worst song I have ever heard.
*sOLaR!!* 😂
I know. I still get hurt by the “Watch out world here I *are*!” and those family of trees singing.
I hate that song so much because conceptually the melody and chorus are very catchy but whenever I listen to the lyrics my eardrums cringe.
Asha is the real villain. Not Magnifico.
It’s like Johnny Lawrence is the real Karate Kid.
She brought chaos and corruption to the land lmao, and she was well aware of that, but kept pressing forwards anyways just so she could get what she wanted
I love this video so much! Not a bunch going on, no big bright unnecessary visuals or a bunch of sound effects, just a discussion about a movie with appropriate visuals to match. And really good points, too!
Yes, my style is pretty simple. I just focus on my words and the visuals to support them. I'm not really into crazy edits and memes and blerf bloof bloff all over the place. Lowkey is good enough for me. Thank you for appreciating that!
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice," "The Fisherman and His Wife," and "The Pink" would've made phenomenal influences for "Wish." (And LMM or the Anderson-Lopez team should've done the music, though it wasn't all Julia's fault).
At least Theres this lovely fan animatic that transforms this wish into a CHILLING villain song for asha

This video scratched my brain and was really in-depth than other videos I’ve seen about Wish. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos !
We all need a little brain scratch every once in a while! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I hope you find other things you like on my channel as I post more.
this video just made me so happy for some reason.. I was genuinley surprised on how unknown this channel is because I think its SO good. But what i really wanted to say is that I never realised how overstimulated i am from doing stuff while watching youtube until I took a deep breath during the intermission and relaxed for a second, so thank you for that
Ah, I'm glad the intermission gave you a breather! It's why I decided to have one in all of my longer videos. We all need to slow down and reset for a second sometimes. Especially when we're online. Thanks so much for watching!
That's why he was looking for an apprentice.
Jeda about songs 😊
@@streamcometrueh
He was safekeeping them, so nothing bad could happen to them, and he could always go back and revise a wish to see if maybe he judged it wrong or no opinions have changed
If Disney hadn't skipped the BEAUTIFUL love story between Asha and the Starboy, and the evil villain couple, Magnifico and Amaya, then I would have absolutely LOVED "Wish"!!! 😭💔💢
14:22 I love the way you said stop it 😭
Haha thank you! 😁
Oh and also after that he's possessed by the EVIL DARK BOOK OF EVIL FORBIDDEN EVIL MAGIC. And then Magnifico F'n DIES
you earned yourself a sub for easy peasy dopey sneezy
I'm having a full-on mental breakdown in the background but that almost made me chuckle out loud
Aww, I'm sending you all the positive magic of a fairy godmother in hopes that you'll feel better. Thank you so much for subbing!
Alan Tudyk still could have voice Valentino even if he didn't talk, he voiced Hei Hei for goodness sake! It's one of his most iconic roles!
I just finished watching the thinkerbell movie saga, and the truth is those movies would be perfect for a 100th anniversary
Love the channel. Great points and original takes. Love the choice of movies to review. Should have more subscribers 👏👏👏😀
Aww thank you! I appreciate the comment and hope to grow this channel more over the year.
I cannot believe you don't have more subscribers!! Fantastic video essay. Keep it up! I see you going far if you continue with the great content
I appreciate you taking the time to watch my review! Thank you so much!
dude i was so shocked when i saw how you dont even have 5k subscribers 😣😣 this is like the PERFECT movie analysis channel for me.... other than just genuinely having good commentary (i lvoe your singing ❤️❤️) the fact that there aren't many visuals makes it feel like a podcast, and i'm sure most people listen to these kinds of videos in the background, so i don't have to feel guilty for not watching the hours of editing 🙏
ANYWYAA this was REALLY GOOD and i'm definitely checking out more of your stuff !!!
Aww, thank you! Yes, I find a ton of editing outside of what exactly fits my thoughts and humor to be very distracting, so there's enough for people who want that visual support but not so much that you can't understand anything without seeing everything, haha.
3:47 YES that guy served to show the consequences of giving away your wish so well but the rest of the movie treated it so poorly it didn't last
edit: 13:14 - i feel like dahlia is one of the better written characters? she's more endearing than asha and more consistent than magnifico
Definitely. It would've been great if Dahlia and Simon were the only focus. The other friends could go lol Thanks for commenting!
"I guess vague wishing runs in the family." 💀😂😂
Damnn howd u sneak all those jokes and puns in there?? Thats a great talent u got i cant wait to watch more vids :D
Thank you! I hope to have more time to upload throughout the year.
Other thing about wish which still upset me to this day is that there where scrapped ideas that could have fix the movie like
Star was originally going to be a shaped shifting starboy that going to be a fusion between the genie from Aladdin and peter pan and i think was going to be a love interest for asha
The queen was originally going to be evil like magnifico which could have been interesting given it would have been disney first evil villain couple
And the whole movie was going to be hand drawn animation similar to princess and the frog there where other scrapped ideas but the point is that for some reason the movie change a lot during the production of wish like starboy was replaced by star because cute star merch ( which if you was me was wasted pontinal starboy could have been disney version of jack frost from rise of the guardians ) the whole villains couple was scrapped for some reason because i couldn't find a reason for why and the movie was not in hand drawn 2D animation because 2D animation is hard to make now a days
Wish is like a modern day emperor new grove or chicken little because both had a lot of disney behind the scenes meddling that changed the movie so much that it no longer resemble the original movie anymore
It makes me wonder what happened during development behind wish and what wish could have been unless in a few years after wish released there could be a swatbox documentary about the troubled development of wish in the future
I wish Magnifico had been the main character. His backstory sounds really interesting and it would have been great to see.
What a wonderful review! I can't believe you don't have more views and subscribers. You are so eloquent and have a great sense of humor. I'm definitely going to check out your other videos!
Thank you! I don't have a lot of uploads yet, so hopefully the channel will grow more once I do!

100 Year Missle!
Lol
Thanks for the honest look at this movie ^^ I really appreciate that you still give it credit for things it did nicely, at the same time as not being at all shy to call it on its nonsense; I enjoy this kind of balanced review a lot, and your whole approach here was really fun to listen to. Look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future! :D
Thank you for the comment! I try to give my genuine reaction to what I watch, whether it's good or bad. Appreciate that you appreciate it!
I just had a shower thought, which is you know when Magnifico said that Sabino's wish can be to inspire a mob/revolt, and that more, or less basically happened, so yeah he was kinda right😅🤣🙃
So true! 🤣😄
I wish they hired you at Disney before they made this film and had the common sense to listen to you. There that’s my wish.
Lol Thanks. I have a feeling it still would've had issues. I'd need to take over the whole company, muhaha! Appreciate the comment.
You said you didn't watch the credits...does that mean you didn't hear "A Wish Worth Making?!" That song is ASTOUNDING! Seriously, please go listen to it if you haven't already, it's legitimately *so beautiful!*
Ah, thank you! I'll check it out.
Wow you sing good. Also fantastic point about worship music as a Christian I can confirm XD
😂 Thanks so much for watching and leaving your thoughts!
The "Jesus is my boyfriend" craze has become really cringey
22:57 OH. MY. GOD
seeing Magnifico as the villain sells a bad person is a red flag
I actually listen to "At all Cost demo" a lot because its so good and knowing thr og context of it makes it so much better. Its so weird how they tried to change the context of that song by one word
Yes, “love you as one does” was change to “promise as one does” but it still sounds like a love regardless of the word change.
Even with that change, it feels weird, i mean they just met each other, and suddenly they're singing that very tender, romantic-sounding song??
6:20 ish
Oh. She touched the bad magic. And once you do that you cant go back, clearly thats when SHE became the villain :p
The book was the villain all along!
Haha! That would be amazing.
5:03 you mean grindr profile right? ;)
Lol Hey, ya never know!
@@streamcometrue Some video essays call themselves "review", but fair enough. ;)
If they want to make a movie that makes audience connect to the older Disney characters, Wreck it Ralph2 did it better than Wish 😂😂
Totally!
I like TMNT! I didn't get to see the newest movie, but I feel like I've seen pretty much every other one, animated or live action.

You're a person who knows something we don't know, will you help me support the movie and give it a second chance?
Huh?
@@streamcometruegive it a second chance, by having Life,Animated Owen Suskind to rewrite the story and rhythm for the songs in the form of one of my favorite country singers Kevin Sharp. Known for singing If You Believe in Annabelle's Wish. And I say the length of the movie should be that of Hook. Thus making it the first longer Disney Animation film than Fantasia.
