Why Maleficent's Revamp Works - Essay and Review
This was truly delightful! You honed in so precisely on what was going on to make this movie less than it could have been. would you consider reviewing some of the writers I find most baffling?
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! I really only review things that I feel like reviewing, but maybe one day I'll come across something that happens to overlap with the writers you're interested in, you never know!
Watching this video and listening to your commentary has been so fun and enjoyable ❤️ I’m so glad I’ve come across your channel. You address even the tiniest details in a way that’s entertaining and I love how you’re not apologetic for it. You’re very informative and I genuinely appreciate your take. I’ve just subscribed and can’t wait to tune in to the rest of your content.
Ooh that's the sweetest and most meaningful compliment about tiny details, thank you! I'm glad you had fun watching the video and that you gained something from it. I hope you continue to enjoy my channel as I start uploading more.
"I guess vague wishing runs in the family." 💀😂😂
dude i was so shocked when i saw how you dont even have 5k subscribers 😣😣 this is like the PERFECT movie analysis channel for me.... other than just genuinely having good commentary (i lvoe your singing ❤️❤️) the fact that there aren't many visuals makes it feel like a podcast, and i'm sure most people listen to these kinds of videos in the background, so i don't have to feel guilty for not watching the hours of editing 🙏 ANYWYAA this was REALLY GOOD and i'm definitely checking out more of your stuff !!!
Aww, thank you! Yes, I find a ton of editing outside of what exactly fits my thoughts and humor to be very distracting, so there's enough for people who want that visual support but not so much that you can't understand anything without seeing everything, haha. I appreciate you watching and do hope to grow the channel more in 2025 as I upload more reviews.
The script for The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street was in my English textbook when I was in grade school. This was in the 70s. It was my first exposure to the Twilight Zone.
Ooh, that's interesting! I did a quick search and it does seem like it's included in a lot of course material. That's cool that your textbook included it and a pretty great way to be introduced to TZ. Thanks for sharing!
I've enjoyed this whole thing twice but I had to come back again for 29:45 for the big dinner argument description with all the b words thrown around, spot on! ^_^
I get it! It's one of the few parts of my review that's still stuck in my head to this day. Thank you for appreciating it too 😂
It is so refreshing that when something isn't good you give great examples of what could have been done rather than saying that it stinks and throw it away and that's it. Good stuff.
Aww, thank you! I find it pointless to just hate stuff without at least explaining why and what might fix it for me. It's just negativity for negativity's sake otherwise.
@@streamcometrue YES it really is pointless. I went through about a decade of having to listen to stuff like that and the saddest part is the people truly, truly felt they were being helpful just urging complete changes without explaining anything at all. (And the hating is just trained and conditioning for rewards)
Thank you so much for explaining both Chekov's Gun as well as the way people talk about it as, yep, I've heard so much lingo of these things by so many who couldn't explain it to save a chipped nail much less their own lives.
21:56 😩~👑
🤣
the beauty standard in this movie is so high, even John Krasinski need a nose job, and in the final scene, the music hit..... when Joey King smile with deadeye stare at me, look into my soul, in the moment it feel like a horror movie... Smile 3 😅
Haha! True. Thanks for watching.
love you take on movie, you have some deep thought like The Deep. Joke or not, you bring up much interesting idea for the "Uglies", but i personally do feel ok they don't make the energy resource as a major plot point. Writing major storyline and building up character evolve around it. Maybe it just simply doesn't make sense, otherwise the movie setting will be more like Silo tv series, not some mass up Zootopia wanted be. Either the movie get a sequence or not, at least we all know in the end of all of this, Tally and Shay is happy and pretty together : ) Do hope you can make a movie review on joke 2; the crazy double tag team... PS; i watch it in cinema. I have so many regret in my life and that day... i add it one more...
I believe if Scully and Mulder was on the case, this will end in one or two episode.... or even better Mitch Buchannon with solve it before teatime : )
I didn't realize how invested I was in the rewrite until you mentioned the stepmother stepping in and thought 'PLS DON'T DIE'. Sometimes I feel like a lot of these movies are trash because the scripts are rushed and/or little to no developmental editing was done. It's insane how soo many little things could be fixed with such little effort. Surely, this can't be the product of numerous rewrites, right? How did no one stop to think about what they were doing?
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I also feel like a lot of movies have those problems. A story feels rushed because of things the studio needed, it doesn't make sense because there are multiple rewrites or too many cooks in the kitchen, or the editing doesn't serve the story. That's why when I talk about things that could've been done differently in my reviews, I pick changes that would be easy to make relative to what we ended up with. The point is to show that many of these films aren't lost causes that would cost so much time and money to improve. Usually, it's just a little tweak here and there.
Magnifico should've been a--flawed--protagonist. Prove me wrong.
This stunk SO BAD
Also let me guess who the saviours are in this movi 😂
All these film techniques just makes all these movies and shows look the same! This looks nothing like the original David soul mini series.
Very disappointing adaptation. Don't waste your time. Deviates from the book tremendously. Adds DEI inappropriately the pace leaves little room for character nor story. Seriously flawed. One cannot sink their fangs into it.
DEI? Seriously?
Yup. It sucked.
I saw the movie!!!! it disappointed complete!!! The TV version of 1979 was absolutely the best horror movie I had ever seen in my life!!! Tobe Hopper, without the actual technology, could make make a Master piece with his movie 🎬!!!! And the Music 🎶 of the original movie was also a Master piece too!!!
Thanks for leaving your thoughts!
I agree Pablo. I was so disappointed with this latest Salem's Lot. No one can come close to Reggie Nalder with his portrayal of Barlow. He has to be the most terrifying vampire I have ever seen on screen. The simplicity of Danny at Mark's window in the 79 version outstrips the scene in the 2024 version. Also, the music...superb. Those 2 haunting notes when Danny appears at the window are etched in my mind. The scene with Mason and Nalder in the kitchen in the 79 film is outstanding, the 2024 scene pales in significance. Everything in the 2024 film is too fast and sorry to say, too 'Hollywood'.
@kevingoult8721 Absolutely true your point of view!!Honestly, I don't know what happened with the Hollywood producers!!! The Director of this Remake Daubermann, in my personal opinion, is someone who doesn't have idea how do make a horror movie!!!!! This version is very bad. It is disappointed completely!!! And the Music in the Remake is a joke!!!Salems lot of 1979 will be the best for ever!!! Today is a cult movie!!!!
Its plop! 🫡
I cant wait to see this 😊❤👍🔥🔥
Even though I haven't heard good things about it, I hope you enjoy it!
@@streamcometrue thank you
There is actually a series of books based on all the Disney villains and in the one about Maleficent, her backstory is actually revealed. It's pretty messed up and explains her one dimensional evil persona. She's literally nothing but evil left because The Odd Sisters used all the good inside Maleficent to create Aurora. It's a shame we never got another movie exploring more of this.
Ooh, that's a really interesting angle, I think it would have been cool to have explored in a movie as well. Thanks for mentioning it here and for watching!
This remake really did suck...and not in a good vampire-sucking way. It strayed so far from the source material that it was barely recognizable. 👎👎👎👎👎 Rewatch the 1979 original mini-series to cleanse your palate of this pile of 💩
Oh no!
@@streamcometrueit was not bad
@@mimij4660how good is this , because I loved the original and very creepy , is the new one creepy & scary at least
@@patrickhill1075 No ☹️

Oh wow. Just randomly got on your ytb and I'm not going to talk about this movie (again) as it's not deserving it anyway. Instead I wanna say that your voive is absolutly amazing. Are you a voice actor? I can imagine you voicing woman characters. It works great for this type of videos too tho! Just wonderful
Thanks for stopping by and for the compliment! I do things with my voice, yes, but not as a profession. I always appreciate the kindness about it, thank you!
Also: ANGELINA FUCKING JOLIE, people!
I just had a shower thought, which is you know when Magnifico said that Sabino's wish can be to inspire a mob/revolt, and that more, or less basically happened, so yeah he was kinda right😅🤣🙃

OK, you picked my favorite movies and 100% love the vibe and approach. But iconic line, "Life is too short and I am not that tall"

I wish Magnifico had been the main character. His backstory sounds really interesting and it would have been great to see.
Adult tell their kid 'Don't talk to strangers'. Adult with their kid go to stranger's home and stay with Strangers.... -__-lll those parent really drop the ball on this one...
I believe there are few and few modern age female fight scene that are authenticity and relatable. Maybe because Hollywood big movie maker have define the martial arts as a mastery and state for the action movie protagonist nowadays, and everybody want a piece of that pie. But If you are a female woman that start in a horror movie as a support character, mostly you are incompetent and doom to make all the mistake so the female or male lead can look good.... But still we can hope for the best, we still have movie maker like Neil Breen. Example his movie, Twisted Pair. In the fight scene's sequence in between him and his girlfriend. His girlfriend wrestling with him, than both of them fall on the couch, and she pick up a photo frame next to him, and slam on Neil Breen's head with it. Marvellous~ Neil Breen get what the audience want, and he derive it XD Unlike fast and furious 7, Michelle Rodriguez toes to toes with Ronda Rousey and Michelle Rodriguez come out on top.... She fight Freaking Ronda Rousey and she win, Bro? Maybe being a car mechanic in American require a very particular set of skills. Skills she have acquired learn from auto mechanic shop college. skills that make her a nightmare for any MMA Fright XD
Haha at car mechanic skills. They have a lot of building and tool knowledge that can add to how they fight! I've seen reviews of that Twisted Pair movie. It's not my thing as far as low budget indie films go, but it sounds like it might have a cult following similar to The Room. Thanks for leaving a comment!
@@streamcometrue Now I regret not to be a Car Mechanic. Otherwise, I will beat Conor McGregor and become the MMA Champions 😂
6:20 ish Oh. She touched the bad magic. And once you do that you cant go back, clearly thats when SHE became the villain :p
The book was the villain all along!
I'm sorry, but no. Aurora is nowhere near the bottom for me. Also, the death like sleep, that's a coma. She's in a coma.
Why say sorry? Disney princesses aren't real. You can have anyone you want at the bottom. Viva la rankings! Lol Thanks for the comment!
I love when I find these niche little channels deffo will be subscribing. Rod Serling has to be one of my favorite writes so this is great.
This makes me so happy to hear! Both that you found my little corner and that you love Rod Serling. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, I really appreciate it!
Love love LOVE your content, especially your sense of humor, so I was super stoked to see you've done a video on one of my all-time favorite shows. My dad was the one who introduced me to the original Twilight Zone series. We used to watch it together every night after dinner, and a handful of the episodes have lived on in my psyche even though I haven't seen them in almost a decade. "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is probably my favorite from season 1. It had my 12-year-old self staring into space and coming to the sobering conclusion, "damn. No, I really wouldn't have been any better than those people in that situation." Which is a lot for a 12-year-old to come to terms with, and might explain why I was always so anxious back then, but I digress.
Aww, thank you so much for the compliment. It makes me happy to hear that you're enjoying my channel and that you love this series as well. It's so wonderful that your dad introduced you to the show and very sweet that you watched it together. It can certainly make you think at all ages, and while it can sometimes be distressing, I believe thoughtfulness helps make us better people in the long run. Thanks again for the comment and for being here!

Thank youuuu!
This felt good to do. Necessary, even! What are your favorite episodes from the first season and what are some of your memorable takeaways? Sharing is caring, streamers!
28:16 how dare you, Aurora 😡
Yes! It was so upsetting.
11:55 that’s one of the few parts I didn’t like. I feel like it took away from what happened to mal
8:57 I love that because neither character believes in true love anymore
Maybe there was just a lot of readily available ketamine in the ambulance, and that’s why everyone seems asleep or numb
That first scene definitely has some issues! To Dakota's credit, her acting was mostly fine after that, but that ambulance was the home of iffy execution every time they were in it lol Thanks for the comment! 🚑
One of the comic book movie channels suggested that there were major rewrites that necessitated the mismatched ADR, as much of Ezekiel's dialogue was changed in post. Two things are clear, the story was sketchy and they chose to release this movie with the janky ADR and edits.
Thanks for watching and commenting! That sounds about right. I usually wait until after doing a review to go look up news about a film if I have questions so I don't influence my thoughts going into it. I haven't had a chance to look into its production yet, but anything relevant I find out, I'll likely add to my pinned comment.
Dakota Johnson definitely can drive like a mad man, or mad woman. She Drive through wall like Kool-Aid Man, without a care in the world, and at the end of the day, all she want is family..... hope Vin Diesel do watch Madame Web. If so, surely he gonna want to add Dakota Johnson in his fast & furious family's Roster XD
😂 Yes! She can use her powers to predict all the stunts their cars are gonna do, but she only drives an ambulance. That's her main.
@@streamcometrue It will be crazy, if Dakota Johnson was the reason Vin Diesel get save in the end of Fast X's dam explosion. XD Move out the way Brie Larson, there is a new Girl Boss in twon >_<
I stumbled on your channel while looking up videos on my latest cinematic obsession (Maleficent) and immediately subscribed. Since then I've enjoyed a few more of your videos - even watching ones on films I haven't even seen and have little interest for, just because I love the fact that you love film so much that it drives you to an uncontrollable need to express your displeasure when it's not done well, and the rapid-fire snark of your delivery. I'm also learning a lot from your analysis, as a late-to-the-game would-be writer myself, as to what flies with an admirably critical audience and what does not. So, hi... The reason I'm commenting on a 2-year-old post is because I happen to be a longtime fan of The Sandman (I cycle through reading the entire run about once a year, and still pick up on new details I'd missed before with every revisit) and I'm curious as to what you thought of season one, and I'm also curious as to why you haven't posted a review,/analysis. I was going to share my thoughts here, but (in a sort of shoe-on-the-other-foot sort of way) I don't want to color your response or spoil anything in case you never got around to watching it. Actually, if you're planning on posting about season one, now might be a good time, as they've been hinting that season two will be popping up soon - there's even a promo introducing the whole Endless family, who will apparently be featured in what sounds like a combination of the Season of Mists and A Game of You arcs, as well as parts of Fables and Reflections (so, basically, what's covered in the second Sandman Audible collection). Love your channel! Pleasant dreams!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I do plan to review series here in addition to films, but time makes it difficult to get through an entire season of a show quickly enough to keep things fresh in my mind. So my series reviews are a very different format from my film reviews. So the main reason I didn't review it was time. And it's been so long since I've seen it that I'd have to watch it again to be as thorough as I'd want with my thoughts on it, and I don't generally enjoy rewatching things unless it's years later lol All I vaguely remember at this point as someone who never read it but only listened to the audio experience is thinking it was just okay. That it skipped over a lot of things that were impactful in the audio version, so the tone and characters weren't as strong. But I can't even remember the show at this point so take that with a grain of sea salt lol
