I like the moderation in finding meaning… the range from God to immorality of having children due to a meaningless world is a wide gap to find realistic meaning.

There may be an inviolable logic underpinning reality. If the only thing that exists is energy, it is electro-magnetic then its bipolar nature invokes a reliable binary logic which has lead to compounding interactions between individual energies which we regard as matter and has lead to systems using the same base. Space is neutral, an infinite vacuum, unchanged by whatever passes through it. Both seemingly are eternal and indestructible. Each unique energy is a balanced perpetual motion dynamo of attractive and repellent forces. The theory of everything is reduced to its simplest. Gravity/Magnetism is the unused attractive energy compounded. Time is merely the senses capable of detecting change. Science minus Ego.

@@nunya7616 It doesn't matter how grandiose the perceiver. "Meaning" will still ultimately just be a perception, or feeling, or thought, or whatever you want to call it.
@ I think you’re missing the whole point of what Goff is saying. It is not that meaning is some subjective feeling or whatever that varies from perceiver to perceiver, (in fact he is arguing that it is objective) but an intrinsic teleological guide that governs the ordering of the whole universe down to the most fundamental structures that make up reality. If you want to reduce that whole concept to being ‘just some feeling’ or whatever, that’s on you for downplaying its significance. If you want to disagree with Goff on this, then that’s fine, but you haven’t provided any cogent argument from that, not that I’d care to change your mind anyway. But the assertion that ultimate meaning is impossible because nobody can endow it with such a thing, or that it is merely some feeling in someone’s mind with no great significance or facticity, completely misses the point of the video, or at least doesn’t address its claims.

An intelligent, actually rational, discussion.
Great video. I'd love to hear a debate between Goff and Thomas Nail.

Any ultimate meaning is impossible because there's no "thing" in control of reality that would endow it with such a thing.
Goff has addressed this by claiming that meaning is not endowed but intrinsic.
@nunya7616 Intrinsic only to the perceiver.
