I could be wrong but there’s a Richmond race in this time period (either 2010 or 11) where he qualified the car second and was leading the race by a few seconds over Gordon and Joe’s car broke on him and was out. Can’t remember if it was an engine issue or something broke, but felt bad because that unsponsored car was killing it till that transpired
Probably one of the biggest detractors for me is the whole feel of the race weekend unfolding - the build up of practice and qualifying just isn't the same since the demise of the speed channel, charters, sizing the field down, etc. Sad even Daytona Speedweeks isn't anything even near close to what it was 10-15 years ago
This race lives in my brain for a bad reason. It was hard enough being a Joe Nemechek fan during the S&P years, but he wound up blowing a tire and hiting the wall. I don't remember anything else about the race, just that.
Whitney Motorsports(46 car) had some of my favorite paint schemes if only they signed a better driver from the start in 2010. Because when they brought JJ Yeley in, he qualified for his first 8 races in a row
That Nemechek lap is legendary

These were fun to watch. Don’t have this excitement nowadays

It’s crazy how far McDowell has come
Watching things like this makes me even more of a fan of his. He struggled for so long and you could just tell that he had real potential.
About as surreal as watching Alex Bowman's rookie year.
We need this back
The cars sounded so much better back then
DW talking about pit selection for a start and park 😂 Oh boy

Not sure why but Terry Labonte in the Gander Mountain Prism Car always stood out to me.
NEMCO had glimpses of speed at times, too bad the team never got it all the way together in cup.
We need Dodge back in NASCAR 😮
Imagine running more laps in qualifying than in the race

This is what the CW/nascarshould do in 2025 , have the dnqers go last
They would probably get an unfair advantage though because the track gets faster as more cars run
also, they dont allow start and park anymore, so everybody qualifying has to try to run the full race. You cant just pull off after 10 laps anymore
@@iamcodywilliamsso glad they did that
Terry Cook - Go Directly To Jail!~ Do NOT Pass Go, Do NOT collect 200 dollars!~
Didn't Mears go the distance that race though?
Not originally planned, put together a late Sponsorship deal
I wish Reed Sorenson would have got another opportunity later in his career.
How did you get footage of all of these runs?
