    OZ you are the man, you're the only one on TH-cam that explained the 2 pin style correctly!!
    Helpful hint to others: my colors on my real GM harness was different but pins are whats important. I also fed #30 with the 12v purple coming directly out of ignition on my 73 nova and 87 went to starter as Oz says. Matter of fact here goes my exact full pinout for anyone who have trouble with lights.
    A = empty on my 2003 harness (so unhooked)
    B = unhooked
    C = 12v ignition/switched 12v
    D = Ground
    E = 12v (permanent)
    F = 12V out to rev lite
    G = to pin 86 on relay
    Pin 30 = 12v starter activation wire from IGN switch.
    Pin 87 = 12v out to starter
    Pin 85 = Ground
    Make sure yall give OZ a like for getting us right!!!! He was crucial for this info on the older style switch.

    This is definitely the best video and explanation out there.
    I havent had reverse light the whole time ive been driving and also i switched to new column and lokar shifter so i didnt have a neutral safety switch anymore.
    Followed your instructions perfectly and worked exactly how it was supposed to.

    Another Barry Bonds Home Run. Well explained and it does make sense comparing the explanation vs the OEM diagram. I saw another video only using 2 wires but when you take a look at the OEM diagram, it only works on parking. This one appears to work on all gears. The way it should be.

    Awesome info, thanks for this. I'd like to add, on my 2003 truck 4.8 harness, the pin positions were the same but the wire colors were different. Neutral safety wires were dark green and pink (thinner), and reverse lights were grey and pink (thicker).

    Good morning sir, I watched your video on your rewiring the neutral safety switch and the backup lights. The question I have. I bought a truck a 95 Chevy and it was a automatic originally somebody stuck the
    NV4500 5 speed standard shift. Will this work for that application? I know the video shows that you have a automatic. I am trying to convert it over so I can have backup lights when I put it in reverse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

      good morning the nv4500 reverse light switch on transmission itself the neutral safety switch would be have to be on the clutch pedal similar to a brake light switch .

    You could put the relay in the cab... and use the purple wire off the neutral switch as a ground???? Starter purple to relay yellow wire off neutral switch to relay..purple off neutral switch to ground... that should complete circuit.....

    • @ozcorr909
      @ozcorr909  ปีที่แล้ว

      easiest way is to run starter wire straight to the ignition it will bypass safety and fuse box as well as relay you can put a 30-40 amp breaker or fuse in between for safety sake.

    • @ozcorr909
      @ozcorr909  ปีที่แล้ว

      im not familiar with how the obs neutral safety switch is set up but doing this will bypass the old neutral safety switch and power up your reverse light ,but your brake lights get power from the switch at the brake pedal,your tail lights get power from your headlamp/running light switch .

    Could this still work for a manual transmission 4l60 / nv3500 ?

    • @ozcorr909
      @ozcorr909  ปีที่แล้ว

      nv3500 has a reverse light switch that screws into the transmission with two wires one supplying power the other to backup lights it completes the circuit when you put it in reverse. neutral safety will be a switch at clutch similar to a brake pedal switch

      just saw your message this would bypass the neutrals safety switch if the motor is in the original truck but once you swap into something else you will be running the starter wire (purple ) from starter straight to ignition switch bypassing it all together, even if you use the original harness youd be leaving the sarter relay on the original fuse box the after market harness ive seen dont come with the neutral safety switch plugs
