Thàt actor (Jeff) you might know him from 'Merlin', 'Games of Thrones' or 'The Umbrella Academy'. The young actress that auditioned for the role Amelia Pond, got the part, turned out to be a niece of Karen Gillan, hence why she looked so much like her. A very good start for this season, I'm sure you will like this Doctor too. I'm sooooo certain.
I agree i think a child companion would be an interesting experimental idea for the show rather than just the one woman companion all the time. The only time they had a child companion which is the film Dr. Who & The Daleks with Peter Cushing as The Doctor or Dr. Who as he's known as to which his granddaughter Susan is a child in that film while in the tv version she's an alien teenager.
But also the one actor who didn't have any knowledge of the show coming in - got it spot on - its good to see you're not suffering Tennant hangover so i think your going to like this crew, certainly it's the crew that stepped up the audience in the US.
@@danielhead8123 yes - matt's said he took a bit from all the preceding doctors, a bit more from 4 but a very large bit from 2 - and you can see it. But Matt is a child of the hiatus - so Moffatt or whovever sent him away with a bunch of DVD's of all the Doctors to do his reasearch. The other striking thing is that the on and off screen chemistry of the crews in season 5/6 (Pat) and series 5/6 (Matt) is fabulous which really helps.

imo the capaldi era is the peak of the show so we have a while to go yet.
