This is a great video with a lot of good info! One thing I might add is to give your Curve tool a Starting and Ending setting. This will give your line a little more "thick'n'thin" without having to double line strokes.

absolute pro tutorial ! very nice , thank you very much ! subscribed !
i also use the "object" tool alot to scale and skew vector lines
if you want to work with disney style outlines (multiple outline colors)
, you can specify one layer for each object on your character (hair,
skin, shirt , trousers) and use the color-overlay in the layer options
to automatically have each outline always have the correct color and
just draw with black on each layer.

I'm not entirely sure, but i believe Sriprachum went to Layer- vector layer- Changed the expression color to Grey-Ok. After the layer is done, go to layer property (under navigation) and change the layer color (it's the one that looks like a blue box is on top of a white one). Then go to your color wheel and pick a color (let's say blue) and then go back to "layer color" and click it. It will automatically change your line color to whatever color you just chose. Basically, their normal vector layers and there isn't anything special about them. I hope this helps (although I could be wrong about your question).

every animation cel can host a folder with multiple layers ,
go to animation folder in layer window -> create new layerfolder -> run his action (5 layers will be created inside that folder ) -> on the timeline choose that folder as cel 1 -> all 5 layers should now show up in the "animation cels" window -> now if you create another cell on the time line it will automagically duplicate the folder and its 5 sublayers to the next cel(without painted content)
you can build your own structure if you only need 2 layers (vector + color) and even use correction layers and masks and whatnot .. it will always duplicate those settings to the next cell

    • @geared_rider
      @geared_rider 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

How about I shorten this process for you by a little. While filling the colors, first you fill the main body and don't fill the shadows. Now hide the lines you use for shadow layer. Now the rest of the space remains where you can fill the shadow colors. You don't have to color the shadow lines again and again. Just discard it as guidelines after you done coloring the main body. Then color the shadows. This should shorten your cleanup time by a big amount if you do this all the time.
      I hope it helps you.

But problem is that way would cause a bit of a problem for consistency in animation so I want to practice doing it a way that's consistent and I was wondering why they didn't just make the layer disappear and do the colouring.

    • @LTRX_

      24 is the general
Characters: 8-12. 8 is used often to save time, also on minor movements. 12 is used on more complex movements but not used that often. Example for 12 fps: hair/cape being blown by air in slomo.

Great tutorial. Question: I attempt to use the 0.4 brush size that you're using but that causes the auto action to fail. In order for things to work I have to use 3.0 size. Any idea of what's wrong here?

Dude, if you mind if I can ask... HOW did you make the lines look lighter? You use Retas Studio right? WTF is it's difference in coloring with Paintman? from Clip Studio Paint.

I know I'm like a year late, but I have one question.
The Auto Action> convetLineColor wouldn't work if were to merge a copy later into the Normal line layer right?
Because I Copy>Pasted>Fliped (an Eye)> Combine Selected Layer... > converLineColor, and I get a whole bunch of layers without a Gray Expression color layer ready to color fill it.
Is there a way to fix this or go around it?
MAYBE You've gotten the same problem when duplicating and merging layers...?
Thanks in advance. Have a good day.

Thank you so much for replying back ( didn't think you would). It worked! I had stayed three nights trying to go around it lol.
Really appreciate it, really do! God bless.
I was just wondering. Do you import the CS file separately into Adobe After Effects, or do you entirely finish an animation on CS?
Of course, you don't have to answer this, you've already done more than enough.

Heyo, I was wondering how you make your outlines (example the first eye)so ... soft at the ending?.
I mean when I use a curve to make outlines on my sketch they are not like yours, they're like a normal line without a soft ending.
Also, Idk If you might know that x) but I wanna color my drawings with my GT but always when I try to brush it or use any water color stuff and add it on the base color it get deleted somehow, do you know how to fix it?

Thank you for the tutorial! Although I'm having a problem right now, when I used the convertLinecolor auto-action for the first cel, it worked perfectly. But when I used that on the second cel it didn't work anymore, the three color layers didn't hide themselves and whenever I wanted to use paint bucket, the color just spilled all out.

    • @keodeo879

Oh wait sorry for asking a bit too much but in your new version, If I want it to work I will have to play the ConvertLineColor then play the reConvertLinecolor. If I just click the Convertlinecolor or the other alone, it won't work. So am I supposed to click both of them each time I want to convert or there is a problem here?

sorry i have another question whats the size of the brush you are using with the curve and pen to make the line art in the video it says 0.4 but in my version doesn't say anything like that 0.4 is too thin, I tried with size 3 but when all the layers merge to paint there a lot of missing pixels and this cause the bucket to splash the color everywhere

Hi Dear, you are amazing, I´d like do the art like you do, I saw in some comments of your other videos that you have not enough time to make tutorial videos, so I wonder where you have learned all this knowledge or were someone like me could learn, may be you know some online master class or something like so, I´ve looking for years but all of them do things like American or occidental style, is not what i like, I love your Japanese style and the way you work, so please if you know some place where I can learn that it would be useful for me.
