    Incredible rifle! Clearly a lot of thought/testing went into the development of this rifle. So much to love, especially that you have made everything in-house and solved many issues around supply chain. Like many it’s a struggle to only have one rifle, I love the ability to have two different caliber to shoot out of this platform.

    Looks like it would also be an excellent option for those who might be able to swing one "halo" rifle in their lifetime, and they can simply get additional barrels to fit their needs. I'm likely that guy, and here's hoping I can somehow save up for this in the next couple of years.

      The versatility of this system will be amazing. We've always wanted to be able to make our rifles more accessible to everyone. While the price tag isn't a lot less, it becomes a LOT more justifiable with the versatility added in.

    I like the stock ergonomics, 3 position safety, and that it's not an remmy 700 clone. I wouldn't buy at that price but it's still interesting. The materials remind me a little bit of the Browning BLR with the barrel extension and alloyreceiver but this Nexus has superior camming bolt action and leverage. It's refreshing to see something offered that isn't such a "me too" product because we live in a world that copies the Remington 700, Savage designs, and 60* 3 lug bolts.

    Well, well, well! An almost custom precision rifle on the offer...for the long range hunter! But beyond the means of an average once or twice a year 100 - 200 yards shooter.
    Slowly, but surely, good quality firearms are being built for the 5 percent affluent population and we the average American hunters only will see them on the net or gun shows and admire!

And also the rifle being chamberd in only in 6.5 & 300 PRC is kind of a slap to the face because any PRC ammo is practically unobtainable at this point in time. So basically you have to be rich as hell or refinance your home just to buy this rifle.

    Love the 3 position safety and the feed from the top mag for a hunting rifle. Stock design is exceptional! However, I noticed you have to take the action out of the stock to do a barrel change. Why not have small holes within the stock so you can effect a barrel change without removing the stock. Is there anything in the design that stops that?

    What indexes the barrel to ensure proper headspacing before tightening? This is an amazing rifle.

    • @Gunwerks
      @Gunwerks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The barrel extension locks up with the bolt head internally, so the receiver really just holds the system together rather than controlling bolt lockup like in a traditional bolt action. Headspace is controlled by the barrel extention and clocking is handled by a clocking pin built into the system that indexes the barrel on the receiver. Two T25 screws tighten the barrel into the receiver and action screw runs through both to hold the entire system together.

  • @vettepilot427
    @vettepilot427 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm glad to see someone prominent in the industry move away from the Remington 700 standard. It's been a good run, but there's a lot left on the table with that design, especially when you can control both the stock/chassis as well as the action and bottom metal interface. It worked out pretty well for Accuracy International. Just curious, which area on the receiver acts as the recoil surface? I assume the area behind the 2 barrel locking screws?

    • @Gunwerks
      @Gunwerks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words. And yes, you are correct, the squared off face behind the locking screws functions as the recoil lug.

    • @williamallan4735
      @williamallan4735 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agree with you completely, but you are under the assumption that this rifle system is meant for the average American. It is not. They are very open about the fact that they sell a premium product. The guy making 50k and only shooting 100 yards out of a deer stand can go get a Ruger American for 500 bucks and never know the difference. You want something long range capable, go get a savage or Bergara for 700-900 and it’ll mostly do the job. But neither of those products fulfill what this system does.

    Great idea and love the concept. I’m currently in the process of building a 300 PRC and 6.5 PRC switch barrel rifle so this is literally perfect. All I have so far is the 6.5 PRC barrel, Bartlein Carbon. Is it possible for me to buy your system in 300 PRC and then have my Bartlein barrel integrated with your barrel sleeve to fit this? Can local gunsmith do this, can I send it to you to do this? Or do I have to only buy the additional barrels from you?

      65 is not a standard Rem bolt lift. There are significant trade-offs when talking bolt lifts. Significant engineering went into optimizing where we landed with the NEXUS and NXT action. Words on paper are one thing, but handling and cycling the bolt on this rifle are another. You won't be disappointed.

    Interesting, how is that with shot to shot accuracy >10 shots. Other manufacturers (Sauer or Merkel) also use a aluminum receiver with a barrel steel clamp. Problem is, that the aluminum has a greater thermal expansion coefficient as the steel thick leads to greater group size as the system heats up.
    Have you thanked measure to prevent this or is it considered a hunting gun only limited to

    • @Gunwerks
      @Gunwerks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the thermal expansion is limited to the barrel and barrel extension unless running extended shot strings, which this rifle isn't really intended for. It is definitely designed as a hunting and precision long range rifle. We've been very impressed with the performance of this system. Our precision standard is among the best in the industry, though we don't play the "accuracy guarantee" gimmick game. Our guarantee is satisfaction. If you're buying this rifle for its intended use, you'll be very happy with it. If you need 30 round rapid fire bursts, you'll probably be happier with a gas gun regardless.

      @@infantilepillock1687 How true, but there are key stand outs that make it interesting to me. Base rifle price in Canada will be on par with an R8 Professional, so no leather, but without the need for a proprietary scope mount(600cdn) and a special barrel (1900cdn) I would think/hope Gunwerks barrel extension would allow near any barrel to be installed/chambered by a smith. This opens up a ton of options, at least here in Canada with switching for alot less money. Reason I switched to an R8 is all my rifles wore the same stock, trigger and scope but chambered differently, even upto my muzzies. This setup could be my dream, one scope, one trigger, one stock ,a really good dope book as I have with any rifle and then I'd truly have my one rifle. Beware the man with only one rifle, because he probably knows how to use it, the quote never said how many different barrels he had 😀

Their system seems to be derived from the Sauer 202 (which itself is based on the Sauer 200 from 1984). It works just fine, however it never holds zero in a true sense. It just doesn't work when the scope isn't mounted directly on top of the barrel.

    I don’t even know where to start? Their version of affordability, or the obvious limitations of an aluminum action? This video is a year old, there’s a reason the calibers available are limited to what they are. I’ve owned a Gunwerks rifle. It was expensive. Then I gathered components, took them to Insite Arms, amazing gun smith, well worth the twelve hour drive. With the two rifles side by side, I couldn’t sell the gun works for more that 30% of what it was listed for, with an integrity.
    Maybe you’ll have, or have had, a different experience?
    I know I never have to buy another rifle. I own an unmatched machine.
    And we all know that a lower end 1000.00 and under rifle, can achieve results, in the right hands. Not an argument worth having.
    Ps; I don’t work for Insite, just a customer.

    Hate Aluminum Receivers with barrel extensions that the bolt locks into on a bolt gun. If that is what I wanted I could have been buying that in the early 1990's in European designs! Locking into the barrel is more of the same. Are you going to sell your cheap aluminum receiver for under $500 which is what it should sell for being made from aluminum? Are you going to sell replacement barrels under $300? I think you wont! Not interested! A steel action like a Savage 110 is as cheap as I am going to go aluminum is like plastic not worth anything in my book! I sure there is no shortage of people with more money than brains that will gladly toss money at you but not this American! Hell will freeze over and Hillary Clinton will go to prison before I give you a dime for that design!

      When did you last see a carbon barrel sell for less than $800? Aluminum is like plastic in your book? I'm glad that nobody will be reading your book anytime soon. Your metallurgical acumen would turn the entire aerospace industry on its head!

    What an absolutely gorgeous rifle. In all honesty, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the name... buuut I guess it's pretty clear that when it comes to names/handles, my judgment is questionable at best. =) haha Congrats on all of your success as a company. I would love to send y'all a resume if I lived in The U.S.. It really seems like a great company/culture/atmosphere from all the videos I've seen. Cheers man, thanks for all the great content.

      We'll...um... take your naming convention into consideration for the next model? 🤣
