    A dope card taped to the inside of a scope cap or on the butt stock and a reticle with MOA or MIL sub tensions while holding instead of dialing would reduce the time between the two greatly. If you're sitting you can range likely spots to know ahead of time the rough range reducing this time even more.

      called a "range card" or "dope"...we are dopes if we don't plan ahead as you suggest

    Great video. Both shooters were excellent. I am excited about your new Revic scope.

    BDC works ok 500-600yds because you can get away with it at moderate ranges. The reality is once you verify your rifle setup and shoot it in the field on a flat range you then build a data range card and go into field position practice. Key is to practice, verify, and know your setup. You dont need to buy into special rifles, optics, systems, and the newest paraphernalia. The real secret is using what you own and getting it afield.

      that is 100% correct. also have to keep in mind if you are not reloading and just using factory ammo , buying the same lot number is huge. not sure if they are trying to re invent the wheel but isnt this the same thing as a leupold cds . these work great if you stay in one environment. when you change that its a different ball game

      Catch up. Smart rangefinders have been correcting for conditions for over a decade. Dope only works if used to validate a profile for use in modern solvers.

      True, but it would be real nice to eliminate the range finder to binocular process with one piece of quality equipment that is tuned to your rifle. Hunting is tough enough and adding a little extra confidence and less weight as well is a bonus. My two cents. By the way both men are quality shooters.

    I was thinking about nikon bdc...with circle..your talking about yard numbers on turrets..how much is the scope

    I had an experience just like Aaron described when I got my best bull yet. Hunting with buddies, and sitting on a group of bulls late season. 3 of us had tags and another spotter with no tag. A different group of hunters showed up and buggered the elk. My buddy is calling out the ranges as the elk are running away and I’m dialing yards in real time. The instant the the group stopped I’m back in my scope looking for the biggest bull in the group. 687yards one shot tagged out. My two buddies without yardage turrets are looking at each other because they never even got a smell. There may have been a 5-10 second window and there was no time to run the data.

    Speed drop is useful.. using Kestrel.
    Its superior to either you demonstrated

    • @Awesymoto
      @Awesymoto 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Speed drop has its downfalls too. Run the numbers on a 0.1 mil error *hunting* and a flat shooting long action cartridge like 300 PRC. the start of the useful range is far out, and you end up having to remember multiple SDF numbers for yardage “brackets”

    Simply call out the dial up rather than the range. The advantage is a wash.

    Rangefinder with true horizontal distance and BDC.
    Random question, what brand electronic ear protection are you guys using?

    So how much of a difference does it make when you have a BDC turret set up for a low elevation and you hike up a mountain and you have a target present itself. Does the elevation and angle mess up what you dial on the BDC. When the G7 will calculate it all for ya in one extra second????

    • @RookCustoms
      @RookCustoms 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it will change your BDC dial.

    Will the bdc work with a major elevation change and or weather change

    • @chrisgunsandguitars1403
      @chrisgunsandguitars1403 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not as accurately because the horizontal distance is shorter than the line of sight range taken at a steep angle with a very basic rangefinder. In other words you will shoot high. However, if your range finder gives you the true horizontal distance…..than you can dial to it with a BDC reticle.

    Try skipping the range and going to moa then state the range and see who is faster. I'll bet if you stated the moa first that shooter would be faster for sure. The delay is caused by the order of data provided.

    • @aarondavidson2156
      @aarondavidson2156 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Range is the first data a ranging device connects and displays.

    • @user-hp7gy5ng7n
      @user-hp7gy5ng7n 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But with the BR4 it gives you the moa basically same time as the distance. It is a wash using the BR4.

    Aaron...Christi & I were lucky enough to be friends with TD Smith and work with him when he was developing his TDS Tri-Factor ( simple Christmas tree reticle ) out to 600 yards...for quick PROACTIVE shots in hunting situations without complex wind & inclination variables, that system delivers pragmatic resolutions much faster than REACTIVE "dial to" Kestrel Computations BUT, for complex and true long-range your technology solves the matrix best [ whichever iteration you currently are marketing ]...attaboy! TD, also a USAF pilot as I, morphed the TDS reticle by extrapolating what he learned in aerial gunnery flying and shooting the F4's gun sight.Your inexpensive BDC ring concept is either ingenious or genius.

      I think the Werkman is about all you’re gonna get out of Gunwerks. $4995 w scope. About the same price as a custom gun from your local builder.

    If youre hunting longer distances, you better know cliks before you shoot, write it down.
    IMHO this just seems to be solution for those who doesnt know their gun and ammo.
