This proved to be a special project as we had actually installed an off-grid system here in 2010. 13 years later, we re-visited the home as the wet cell batteries had finally begun to collapse under the load and the homeowners were ready to integrate newer technologies 👏
A 13-year lifespan for a system installed in 2010 is a fantastic result, and both we and our customers were incredibly pleased with how the system had operated for over a decade.
But, this was where the fun began. To future-proof their home for more decades to come, they requested "the bigger, the better". We replaced the existing system with a 17.2kW Trina Solar array, 40kWh of PowerPlus lithium energy storage, an AC-coupled inverter system utilising a Selectronic 7.5kW inverter and charger and two Fronius inverters to total 13.2kW of inverter capacity 🔋
And, to top it all off given the excess AC energy, we installed a Tesla Wall Connector so the homeowner can charge an EV on the island 🤯
With this mammoth amount of off-grid power, this home could run autonomously and regularly for five days during severe weather conditions before the backup generator is required.

Awesome system guy’s, I love it. I reckon the worst part of that job was leaving. I’m curious of what type of EV/Buggy they are considering, with a bit of planning foresight it could potentially power the whole place for a few more days without the need for the genny when the weather is really bad.
