In dcs you get 96 flares but individual buttons for chaff and flare, so you dont waste flare trying to chaff a radar
Problem with war thunder is that Russian planes get 96 flares/chaff... F 15 gets 240, f14b 720, and the jas39 gets also 720....you can't shoot them in dogfights with ir middles cuz they just pop flares all the time
@@vidbobanec8384 My guy, much like in DCS and War Thunder, IR missiles are most effective when the recipient has no idea they are on their way.
@@linusorm Even then, if you launch an r73 around 1.5km behind someone, there is nothing they can do about it.

how did u get the hud to lock onto it but not see it on radar?
Was I in TWS mode? I think TWS shows the plane on the HUD without a hard lock.

i love the war thunder sim videos as i started playing war thunder not too long ago and recently started trying to get into sim battles and really enjoy it compared to rb a lot of the time. as a console player id also love to see you try to play on a controller and see how convoluted of an experience it is.
Sim is nice on a somewhat empty lobby and with friends. No more of that air rb clusterfuck of dogfighting and missiles that more resembles arcade than anything else

In terms of plane set yes, in terms of everything else .. definitely not. You should give DCS a shot and compare the multiplayer gameplay, its very different. Thank god ..

5:15 I don't think SARH missiles can be fired with TWS, at least not with these planes with older processors
The issue with newer missiles is that they're really hard to flare and not everyone knows what to do to flare them, also the lack of electronic countermeasures doesn't help the survivability
The Su-27 can fire SARH missiles in TWS and IRST but still requires Radar hard lock
Ex fire a 27ER in IRST it will fly straight till you switch to radar than datalink to the target

Basically the R27 will fly stupid (not target anything) until the radar locks target and send information the the missile via DATALINK

4:48 - idk how it works in DCS but you cant launch SARH missiles in TWS mode, you need a hardlock
In DCS, the Su-27 can hold a soft lock in TWS mode where the radar cursor will remain centered on the selected target. When you fire an ER it'll automatically switch to Single Target Track (a hardlock, to use your verbage).

Russia is still using the Su-25 and 27 in the Ukraine and only bring out the SU-35 for special missions.
You should be able to key bind a control for the damping switch on or off with a single button press in the controls menu

Dude how do you lock R-73's when you are turning? You don't even face them yet you can lock them. I'm in your discord channel as well.
I use the HMD to look at the plane and get a lock.
WAIIIIT ! In sim you must play with Damping mod on ? I always assumed manual control let you do whatever you wanted with the plane and was the must go setting to use ! o.o
Hi, you don't have to fly in damping mode but with planes that are Fly By Wire you are effectively turning the computer off that keeps the plane in the sky.

With my settings i basically can toggle it cause the button i use tap it twice and go straight to manual and have my finger preped on the button

Great content mate.. If you have time and you want to share your key bind, I got the same hotas and I find difficult to Bind radar settings, I haven't find any content with keybind on top tier War Thunder

The Su-27 is just perfect aircraft for SIM.
I think the smt will be better than su27 until a newer su27 comes. Smt got better radar , and supreme RWR which are essential for hunting and surviving in sim. Also, number of countermeasures isn’t really much bigger on su27 than on smt. Sure you may have more missiles, but when you’re out of flares it’s better to RTB even when you still got AAM.
With that said, I think in sim, planes that carry AIM9M will continue to dominate due to the invisibility of this missile

Do you fly with damping on most of the time?
I don't usually use it unless the plane is Fly by wire.
Do you have to control radar elevation in wt? in dcs you are constantly adjusting the elevation when finding targets at different altitudes.
You have two options. Default is no control, radar looks in direction of the nose and only moves left/right. But you can toggle manual elevation control in settings.

yeah user friendliness has never been war thunders strong suit, and it really show on the su 27.
i wonder if i could set up a direct control bind and catch people off guard pulling the full flanker aoa in a rb match?
also while dcs is good for accuracy usually, i have to grant war thunder has better countermeasure modeling, as far as i can research the su 27 is meant to have 96 total.
also on your complaint about the cod lobby feeling, i think it would be alleviated by some air defenses existing on maps. right now flying around in the ideal range of stingers and aaa in enemy territory is not a risk, its the smart option. this means there is no front line, and people have no issues being behind you or your spawn. if people had to be careful in enemy territory, it would be more head to head combat, and people could do real bvr.
another thing that could accomplish this is if there was a gci system, where ground based radars would mark enemies rough locations on the map( a grid square would be plenty accurate enough). then people hunt down the enemies nearest the airfield and work their way out, again creating a front line. ideally the gci would be a radio call option asking for nearest target until datalink is implemented.

It does, but it only keeps your wings level. For example use it together with CCRP bombing. Its not an altitude/attitude hold autopilot.

I agree with everything you mentioned, didn't fully spade the su-27 yet but other than the insane AOA in manual override mode I am finding the electronics (radar and rwr) are really holding the aircraft back.

You want a TrackIR + Pro clip. Lets you look around by just turning your head a little bit
Pro clip is not a must have tho. I’m rocking hat clip , no issues whatsoever
Yeah I use TrackIR but you can get cheaper alternative head trackers or build your own. Have a search on youtube for alternative/DIY headtrackers.
