      She didn't break anything. Slavers Bay returned to it's old ways. The slave holding free cities remained the slave holding free cities. Westeros got a God king who spies on everyone that no one choose. The lords kept all there power and influence. Political arranged marriages continued to be a thing. Serfs remained serfs. Just because one city was sacked and destroyed doesn't mean the whole system collapses. It would have if she were allowed to break the wheel at the cost of those who refused to let go of unjust power, but like the high sparrow, nobody willing would subject themselves to that kind of justice. The small folk who she was really fighting for remained small because the person flighting for them was not strong or smart enough to help them.

      @@andrewlevin6331 I got it but I just think her story is so sad in the book and show. She ultimately broke under the weight of her own ideals and people around were all to happy too let it happen because they didn't like implications of her beliefs. Had she had better advisors like Olenna or Randal Tarly if he wasn't so bigoted she could be a great ruler. To many people were happy to see her fail though because of what her success would mean for them personally.

      Not for long. Without Danaerys, her armies and her dragons, Westeros (exhausted after years of war) would pose little challenge to the Army of the Dead after they breach the Wall. And yes, we can safely assume that the Night King had a way to breach the Wall from the start, or he wouldn't have marched south. Tyrion didn't know any of this, of course.

      Weeeeeel NO! Ffs people should read the fucking book and realise how this show failed pretty much the entire story long before seasons 7 and 8
      Dany is not just about the Iron Throne, she is trying to find a home, and people of Slaver's Bay are foreign to her, she is raised as a Westerosi noble, she wants to find her house with the red door and she is driven by mystic forces ever on, to reach west
      Only that she is instructed that she needs to go East to reach west and to go south she needs to go ride North and to see the light she needs to walk inside the shadow

    1) The great script writing for this episode .. the atmosphere they created by this outrageously brilliant script.
    2) The unreachable class of directing and the cinematography is absolutely outstanding and probably one of the best things I have ever witnessed in the whole Cinema/TV thing.
    3) The stunningly immense acting from Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Kit Harington and of course Iain Glen who is the most underrated actor of the lot and IMO at least deserves an Emmy or a Golden Globe so does the other Actors I had mentioned.

If she breaks the wheel, she's the only player and all the other houses are gone or clearly under her power. She always said she wants to be the one with absolue power, people just heared what they want. I just can't believe how some people are such big fans of kings and monarchy when been born into free societies, like they only play along with the game of thrones and can't think big.

      ***** You got me a bit wrong there (unless I am getting you wrong now). I did not mean we went through the same by letting one person change our destinies. There is the will, perhaps unspoken of due to the fear of those in power, and usually some people take a leading role to make that will come true. Once people see that they are not alone and there are others who back them up, they too start showing their will and it turns into a mass resistance.
      Martin Luther King, Jr said "I have a dream" and that dream came true. You might say now "of course all people, regardless of their colours, are equal. But if you said this at his time many people would also say this was a fantasy. Like him or not, he inspired masses. The famous French Revolution was a huge step against monarchy, even though certain outcomes might be debated nobody can deny the contributions it made to modern Europe. And Jean-Jacques Rousseau is probably the name that many remember to be the most influential on the revolution.
      I think you take the matter literal. Dany is a queen so you compare her to other kings in history, but I see her as an influential leader to start a civil uprising against inequalities. Things can go in a different direction of course, but this is what I am hoping to see since nobody else in GoT gave more shits to commoners than she did.

    • @FoxxxyLadyy
      @FoxxxyLadyy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well ok, Robb and Stannis are good men and they certainly care for their people in their way. Robb was my favourite until he died. He wasn't a power lusty person and I had my other reasons to like him too :) I did not want to undermine them. However I think you would agree that their stories don't make an arc with their care for common people.
      If Dany, after getting her army in Astapor, left Essos then I wouldn't say what I said. But remember she said she had 200 000 reasons to take Yunkai, referring to the number of slaves in the city. She did not know she would get a bonus with the Second Sons, her motivation was to help the slaves. With the same reasons she went to and stayed in Meereen. I was pissed off to see she would stay there and not go play the game of thrones in Westeros, but I came to realize that her decision was a hard one and even a brave one in my eyes.
      Other characters might feel a lot of things, but we are limited to what we read/watch and can only base our opinions on what we hear about them.
      Other than that I am glad we now understand each other better.

      Emiliano Rodriguez I wish, but I liked other Tyrion pairings better with people that could match him with witty repartee or substance, Bronn, Varys, Baelish, Shae, Tywin, Jaime, Jeffrey, Jorah, Cersei. Poor Daenerys has a one track mind with precious little knowledge or life experience. Tabula rasa. Since you are a fan of the books does it mention anywhere that she can read and write? I measure her by successful rulers of real world history. She does not reflect their traits. Unruly dragons and a spiffy throne room don't impress me.

      Valkyrie Sardo she knows how to read and write well, but she knows nothing of dragon tales or histories of the seven kingdoms so u cant really expect her to know how to train dragons! they are dragons for goodness sake not dogs. how would u know what to do with 3 dragons when u have no knowledge or books on them since they have been extinct for many years and all those around u are just as shocked by them as u are?? oh and btw shes 12-14 years old in the actual books. she has done incredible things for her age and shows a great visionary mind, and her mistakes can easily be attributed to her age and lack of experience. Viserys taught her to read and write, but nothing else of the histories since he barely knew them himself. Dany at this point resembles Elizabeth I the most. Elizabeth was also taken advantage off at the beginning and her initial years were extremely unstable. She sent an army of children and young inexperienced men on a war that failed miserably and she became the laughingstock of the whole of Europe. she had great visionary mind but those around her were traditionalists and refused to listen to her. she too had many assassination attempts made on her and was almost forced into marriages she didnt want by other European monarchs and her own government. if it wasnt for Walsingham (her primary adviser who ironically was much like Tyrion) she wouldn't have survived the throne for a year.

    I think what Tyrion says here is the most logical thing Dany has heard in ages. I think her conquest of Westeros would be doomed to failure, mainly because 1) I don't think such an intricate and amazing story will end with the most obvious victor coming out on top (it's just too simple) 2) She doesn't understand how the politics works, Tyrion can help her but right now she's a little out of depth. 3) So she's going to break the wheel. What does that mean? Is she going to try and take down all the big main families? Lannister, Tyrell, Martell, Aryn, Stark, Lannister, Greyjoy, Baratheon. Why? She needs the support of someone in Westeros with an army, she needs support of lords and ladies who the commoners respect. PLUS, isn't she part of the wheel? I mean, she's proclaiming to be the queen, she's like top of the wheel! Seems a bit hypocritical. I honestly think she may have more to gain by never going to Westeros (we shall see).
    Also, on a side note, I couldn't help but feel really sad for Tommen this episode, I mean we didn't see him but he's had the two women he loves ripped away from him and imprisoned. It was bad enough with just Margaery locked away, now his mum? Poor him :( Luckily, Kevan is on the job.

    • @basboosa2812
      @basboosa2812 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LaughterInportable no..she included all houses vying for power including her own house. what shes saying is that she will destroy the social and ruling system that has been governing Westeros for thousands of years.. that system has caused nothing but chaos and let the big rich houses step all over the common people while they waged petty wars. the fact that she included herself in this speech indicate that shes planning to either remove the monarchy as a whole or create a more liberal sort of government where the common people, who are also the majority, have equal rights and say in the governance. Shes not going to be killing the rich but i suspect that she is planning to decrease the power they have over ruling the realm by giving a voice to the commoners as well.

    One thing Tyrion got wrong was that having the Tyrells wasn't enough. The Reach army is 3 times the size of the North, Vale, Riverlands, and twice the size of the Westerlands army. The issue Tyrion might've been referring to is that because the entire Reach is so populated the lesser lords are extremely powerful even in their own right. Not only that but they have more noble blood than the Tyrells and don't listen to them sometimes.

    Dany should've listened to Tyrion in this scene or at least considered his advice to stay in Meeran. She had more support and respect and beloved in Merren than Westeros who had nothing but bad memories and dislike of her infamous family. She could've at least built a dynasty in Merren that would have eventually have her descendants have the power and wealth to take their ancestral throne back at the right time.

    Dany: I'll give Stannis Storms End.
    Stannis: I want it in writing.

    I'll never get tired of saying this: Tyrion is the best fictional politician in cinema history

    Too bad that she never realized, not did Tyrian apparently, that the problem with breaking a wheel.... and the spokes thereof.... is that there will always eventually be another wheel, so long as you wait long enough for it to happen.

    Strangely enough, I feel like just a tiny alteration to that last line would have made it come off a lot stronger.
    "I'm not going to stop the wheel. I'm going to break it." Would have sounded a lot better imo.

    They are surprisingly good together. Had to roll my eyes when Dany done the whole 'break the wheel' speech though. 😌
