Im leaving my comment at 9:34 when you asked "When does the universe begin in this story?" My idea is that the universe begins when Chukwu has the desire to create it. This starts the spectruming process that leads to the building of Obi Chukwu, the filling of Obi Chukwu, and the opening of Obi Chukwu by Nne Chukwu. This unleashes the potential of creation and the 'ripples' of this explosion set in motion all the processes that lead to the creation we see today and will be seen in the future.
The metaphor of the spiral has become central in my spirit as of late. You have been used to shed more light on the knowledge being woven into (or maybe rising up from) my agwu. The water ripple is an apt metaphor. The beginning is the spark of thought/ intention. The spark goes through a process to make the stone hit the water. This is representative of the explosion from which radiates the ripples of concentric circles, each moving farther from the source. Consider that we are on a globe. Each point on the sphere has a complement on the opposite side of the spherical globe. A point that is a reflection through the center of the sphere. The rippling perpetuated with sufficient force concludes at the reflection point. The force of that conclusion causes the ripple to emanate from the reflection point around the globe back to the point of origin. Thus creating an unending interplay between the 2 points. These 2 points are Chukwu and eke. This is represented in the very form of DNA as a double helix spiral. I have discovered a double helix (my term) relatioship in jazz, which ends at the beginning. Both the chi and eke are intertwined. If you start at one, you will always return to the other, seemlessly. They are inseparable. We see a spiral as a spinning from a single point circling ever outward. Consider that we are seeing a 2-dimensional projection (or manifestation) of a 6-dimensional phenomenon where the beginning and the end are like the point and its complement on the globe. This spiral actually vascillates between the point of origin and its complement. That is to say, all is cyclic. Thus we have a unending cycle of life. Thank you brother Derek for the lesson.
Definitely! I actually marvel at how the ancient Igbo Cosmology so accurately explains multiple physical phenomena that were much more recently (relatively) proven by science/physics, etc., e.g. the fact that the universe continues to grow/expand infinitely, the eternal waves/water ripples (Olisa ebili uwa), the connection you just made with the DNA double helix, etc.
Thank you so much for sharing this captivating information! I'd absolutely love a video on the four ages of humanity as mentioned at 20:38 great work as always!
The creators of the universe are not bound by time so they have no beginning and end, they are creation itself. All things created within the universe have a beginning and end and are bound by time. The material that the universe creates from is not bound by time it is only transformed and not destroyed nor created. Eke is manifest in all things and in turn all things are in Ala from the 4 market days to the 28 days of the month to the 13 months of the year (1+3 leads you back to 4). Ala leads us all in right actions and brings us closer to our Chi. "If an artist decides to draw a model, what is the 'Eke' of his/her decision?" Eke of the decision is the following: Eke will ask in which month will you draw the picture, what day of the month, what time of day, what material(s) will you use as a canvas, what tools will you fashion for the job, how much of air will you take in as life energy, will your work cause harm or enrich my material world, have you acknowledged me and the material universe that I provided for you to work your image into form? In all creation / transformation a person does, a doorway must be open to their personal Chi and also to the Eke inside us and around us. The spider web represents the creative power within the universe that is also represented within man on a microcosmic level. So thus the power spiral of the spider web begins--> desire leads to motivation to manifest the thing(s) desire. Energy that you will get from Eke / Ala is harnessed from around you and is combined with the energy you already have inside you for the process of transformation + your ability to focus your mind and heart (like a vessels that carries your energy) in that direction of the model to be transformed + how quickly you can bring the desired thing into form (reality in the Eke realm of human existence). The strength of the spider web that you weave will depend on the above mentioned ingredients blended together successfully and in what portions. Yes other forms of guidance can also be a valuable help along the way.
the Eke of the decision is the sequence of actions that create the painting, or the process of painting, which could be time, since time is movement! The Eke of a decision = TIME or the process of manifestation. So the moment Chi INTENDED to create, is the beginning of the universe, since it started to act and action implies time and time implies existence if some sort!
Interesting, the national deity in Japan is Amaterasu nomikami the sun goddess. It is said that in ancient times in Japan that the island was ruled by a woman named Himiko she was said to be a witch. Rulers in the surrounding countries would send her offerings out of fear. Japan was then called the island of the Wa people, which meant the little people or dwarfs.
Peace Brother Derek. Thanks for your wonderful work. This is suggestive of fractal division. Thank you for sending me back to this again. I needed to come back to this. I will listen a couple more times. I definitely am interested in Eke the next level. Thanks. Peace and Love
Great vid. I look forward to your divine animals vid. I would love to know more about the 4 stages of human development according to Igbo/Ibo cosmology.
I've actually heard about amosu from my mother and she described it as a witch or someone who flies in the night to suck blood, something like a vampire. I live in the Caribbean and there's a creature like that as well although it is not called a witch in any case. In Trinidad and Tobago there is a lot of talk of something called a soucounyan(not sure if I'm spelling it correctly) and basically it's an old woman who flies in the night in the form of a ball of fire and sucks the blood of babies and young children to replenish its life. They usually say throw rice or salt in front the house and it will be forced to count the grains until the sun comes up and it's forced to retreat. I just thought the similarities were interesting although I know it's obviously not what amosu really is from what was said in the video.
answer to 9:30 - I think the universe has always been, it's just that this state of the universe which began 13.8 billion years ago was triggered by Komosu's death. as you had said before this point, there's no creation in igbo cosmology, just changing from one state to another
Some physicists have the theory that the universe keeps collapsing and expanding , and what we know of the Big Bang and the present universe is just a period of expansion. Not really answering the question, just came to mind.
serious question. will it be possible to activate my dna to teleport in this life-time. i speak to chinaekae about it but i'd like more confirmation. i think your right about their was separation prior to bc why would he tell her never to enter what he was going in and out of. she just had to sit and be curious
I'm wondering if the Igbo despite the prominence given to males in that society were not originally a matrilineal society. Because from what I've read fatherhood or paternity is not based on merely having a penis and ejaculating into a woman. No, you have to pay bride price. So a woman could marry another woman. Then one of the women would go and get pregnant( hopefully) and count the child as a continuation of one of their women's lineage. Motherhood is automatic you don't have to establish maternity in most cases. Fatherhood seems more ceremonial than biological
My thought is that the Universe already existed as the space in which this event occurred. Not the explosion its self but where the explosion happened where all this occurred.
The current science is that all existence was so compacted that there was no space for any "thing" to exist and so tight that there was no "where" for any thing to "happen". The "Big Bang". Created Space and Time. It counter to our limited human minds did not happen in space/time
@@mlungisiwright Right, but in alignment to "we do no have an up without an observation of down", that compacted infinitely small moment before the big bang had a location inside a void, fluid, something. My strange, wierdo brain that enjoys Quantum Mechanics like the rest of them, but still tries to reconcile "what / where was before the Big Bang" as a chewy thought experiment since science can only take us so far at this moment.
The Multiverse is the idea that our Universe, and all that's contained within it, is just one small part of a larger structure. This larger entity encapsulates our observable Universe as a small part of a larger Universe that extends beyond the limits of our observations. That entire structure - the unobservable Universe - may itself be part of a larger spacetime that includes many other, disconnected Universes, which may or may not be similar to the Universe we inhabit.

create (v.) "to bring into being," early 15c., from Latin creatus, past participle of creare "to make, bring forth, produce, procreate, beget, cause," related to Ceres and to crescere "arise, be born, increase, grow," from PIE root *ker- (2) "to grow."
