@THEREELTEST If you had to choose between the Aurora Air, Soloking Acura (upgraded with bearings) and the DW Ultra, wich one would you pick up ? Or perhaps you have better options ? I'm looking for my first BFS combo 😁
Im curios as well. Actualy ive got the accura. Great reel. I would say its as good as my shimano aldebaran, but i think the accura looks like a aliexpress reel...not a nice optic and looks very cheap.
Just got this reel today. The braking system numbers now go the other way. Left to right. 0123. On the three side and arrow shows brake plus and on the zero side and arrow shows brake minus. Thanks for the video that shows me how all this stuff works!
The majority of fishing tackle including rods and reels on earth come from a handful of factories in Weihai china. Not surprising that the quality would continue to improve on odm brands as they learn and improve their production from making reels to spec from the nicer company's reels.
I really like my Histar. IT casts a 2.5 grm lure about 56 turns . Not sure how far that is , but looks like a far distance . I tried a heavier lure around 5 grams and it wasn't a good for some reason . i was using 8lb Braid and a cheap baitcaster that casts between 1 gram and 5 gram . Great video by the way
I bought this reel when it first came out because I was curious about the brake system on it. Mine has the same issue with the handle tolerances and the drag isn't the smoothest. What I can say about it is on the #1 brake setting and about 3 on the dial it will launch 1.5 gram lures and I am sure will handle much lighter stuff as well. I'll be looking forward to seeing how it casts in your test video as well.
I have heard from a few people that all them seem to have this slop in the handle and its unfortunate because this reel really handles light lures great. I have only fished with mine a few times but enjoyed the trips. I gave a pretty bad first impression review on the silver feather reel but I think after cleaning the bearings on it and putting different oil in it that it is a little better option, its brakes are just very strong. I have casted both reels and the Thornsline Sembo 117 without using my thumb with lures down to 1 gram, I hope they fix the issues on the Thornsline and release it again, its a fun a little reel also. @@THEREELTEST
I doubt that the brake system can be called dynamic since in its entirety is located on the static part of the reel and it will activate and stay active as soon as you close the cover and stay active regardless of the speed of the spool. Correct me if I am wrong please.
I have one and mine is good. Not much tolerances. Not as smooth as the aurora bfs but cast way better. The aurora air cast as good as the aldebaran bfs or even better in my opinion. It cast really far with kastmaster. I haven’t throw trout magnet yet but I’m sure it’s capable of it. I threw 1/32 oz jighead with a 2 inch crappie jig. It cast just way too good that’s all I gotta say.
Yeah mine handle rocking too. Apparently the shaft bearing hole on the side case is way bigger. What I did was super glue the hole wall very thin layer by layer till the bearing fit snug. I also swop out the nylon washer right under the main gear to a 1mm carbon washer. Knobs bushings swop to bearings. Brake side cover under the bearing I reshim till the spool is centered. Lots of work on it
I really like the small profile and lightness. Parts are not expensive. Most China reel I have needs some work on it. Only reel I did not need to modify is haibo arise air.
The brake dial going up in number while going down in brake force is confusing as hell til you realize they use it to indicate casting distance, the higher the number the further the cast. There's quite a few Chinese reels like that, and some "insta" brands like Six Gill
I have the (2) New Daiwa Tatula BF70 & Daiwa PX BF70. Both are made for USA market models. I also have Kastking Zephyr & Kestrel Elite, so no more having to order overseas for quality BFS reels... Reviews are underway... 💯
I just picked up a histar assassins 4 piece travel rod and it's really nice! Got a cu double after watching a bunch of your videos and some from other channels and paired it with a seasir mansory carbon bfs reel but am yet to test it. All up $200nzd on some good discounts
@THEREELTEST I have looked at those a couple times and they seem good, I would've gone for a 2 piece assassins rod but they're havnt been on a good enough discount yet. Christened the 4p assassin with a nice size kahawai over the weekend and it was surprisingly good. 7' mh/f model 😁
I've got my Aurora Air just few minutes ago. Very first impression: Light and cheap, quality weighs more. Am I right? Maybe not since I have not had this reel on the water yet. We'll see. I've got to give this reel a chance to proof me wrong. As greasy as it is, it will barely work bfs-wise. I need to clean the bearings first and grease them up way less.
@@THEREELTEST I also was wondering if Solos Acura was identical with Kingdoms Micro Monster and few others in the 135gr area as it looks like from outside.
@THEREELTEST great to hear, bfs is great fun, but the casting of modern spinning and modern lines is insanity. Tossing a .4 gram fly, .7 gram wet 70 feet+ is insane! Expecially in open water where it is unnecessary for accuracy.
The Thornsline Sembo was pulled due to QC issues and they'll bring an overhaul back afaik. Plus there's another reel in this sub 120g group. Taigek sells an all white reel that is sub 120g.
The Aurora Air unfortunately has a number of issues on many/most reels: 1. The main shaft isn't properly shimmed, so the handle has in and out play. 2. The drag star spring is weak, so that tends to flop around a bit. Doesn't affect the setting, just irritating. 3. The main shaft hole in the handle is oversized, so the handle doesn't sit flush against it. 4. Some reels have shimming issues on the worm shaft, which affects line lay. That's the observations out of about 20-30 reels in a Facebook group I'm in. One guy even fixed all issues his had and it improved a lot, but you need time, patience, tools and skill for all that. So unless you're a tinkerer with a well stocked toolkit, you won't get all those done.
@@jeremyjardin2882 I'm pretty sure it's BFS FINESSE FISHING. I just joined this year and compared to other BFS groups, they seemed to be the most active and helpful group.
Hope to see you do a light lure test and bearings upgrade options for this reel.

Curious of this as well. Personally I have the newer model Acura Pro and RoRo bearings. Really throws great

I have a Histar travel rod is a very nice. The rod is beautiful.
I have the Solomon 3 and its nice for the price

thanks for letting me know about the handle slop, saves me from potentially buying another one. I hope they are aware of this

How much time and total cost do you have total on it? Worth it over just getting a Shimano slx 70?

Are you going to do the trout magnet 1 gm feoikd test also
New bfs reel 104g, histar GIU year of dragon limited edition hope you review this one. And they have a GIU 99g!
No issues with the arm rocking on my Aurora Air.
Cool video, how many bearings this lure

Ive seen it, looks interesting but not at the price lol
In your opinion, which I value, at 109.00 plus tax after coupons and coins do you feel it is more of a bargain? Thanks much.@@THEREELTEST

lightweight can feel cheep if the build quality and tolerances are poor

Sembo no longer available because of spool tension knobs threads
Will you ever do spinning reels, or perhaps they are not youe forte
A spinning reel will be in a future video very soon lol

My Aurora Air has the same wiggly handel.
looks like thats the consensus so far lol
BTW, I got it for only US$28.60.
Arm rock is one way bearing loose in casting
