I LOVE the Aurora air! Haven't had any issues yet. All the early quality control handle slop ect. must have been adressed. I use it exclusively for 1gram and less lures! I have a few of those reels, and only 1 of the 3 feels geary, the other two are smooth as silk. Upgrade the bearings and its night and day!!! Longevity has been good for mine, caught a couple hundred panfish on one and about 90 bass on the other, so its been great! Glad to see your review. I use .2 goh for the 1gram and .4-.6 for the bass.
How can it have longevity when it has only been out for 6 months or so? I have a sample size of one so I may have got a bad one. I really did like it before it fell apart. I really like the doviello HICC50 and the Kindom Micro Monster. Some people dislike them or got bad ones. I'm glad you found a reel you love. Tight lines Bro. :)
@yankeelipperfishing - true on the longevity, but I have been using both of them exclusively to test them heavily. I was worried about the thumb bar breaking, but I was surprised it hadn't. I figure hundreds of casts a week over the 6 months I've had them could equate to a couple of seasons of use by the weekend angler. I've had a couple of lower cost baitcasters fail 2 months in, but I'm afraid these may not hold up over a couple of years of exclusive heavy use. When catching fish, I usually tend to let the rod do the work and reel in slack or line without a ton of tension, being a bfs reel but the gears have been ok thus far.
@yankeelipperfishing - I really like the Doviello, it is a far superior reel in that price range! I have noticed the Aurora Air is all over the place in price lately. Not sure what that's all about. Tight lines!
Yeah, thank god I bought mine from Amazon so I got full refund. I have Haibo Arise Air that is a little more money but seems to be made well. good fishing.
