Groot is a "male" Floral Collosus, he is the plant equivalent of a male, based on how he "fertilizes" female Floral Collosi. They go into his backstory and planet in the comics. At one point he carried within him a crazy "superseed" type deal that could help restart his whole race! Pretty nuts. But yeah, Groot is a guy. Or as close as plants come, and he self identifies as a guy/male when he talks to people like Rocket, Doctor Strange, Beast, Jean Grey and a few others who understand him. He calls Rocket and himself Brothers as well.. _brotherS_ plural. So yup. Hope that helps.
I thing you should do Ebony Maw after Infinity war comes out. He has lots of weird and unnatural facial features (and that is cool as heck), it would be interesting. Btw i love your work, you are very talented. Greetings from Czech republic.
