Great review Luna, you've convinced me and this is my first XP11 payware purchase (downloading as I type this). I'd love more videos of this aircraft, I can't wait to try it with my Rift. Regards, Cheers
3 years on, would you still recommend this aircraft? Or is there anything better for a Piper Arrow / Archer / Warrior available for X Plane 11? Loved your recent Beluga video!
Thank you for the video. I would like to have seen a couple of shots of your cruse RPM, fuel flow, and etc. on the gauges located on the lower portion of the instrument panel.
Thanks Wayne. When you say you don’t have any issue with clarity in the cockpit. What level of detail can you read? I can read the instruments, just can’t read the text on the buttons or even some of the text on the panels. Even tried leaning into the panel. Mind you, as this is Beta, I’ve reduced the settings in XPlane as suggested. Are your settings turned down or you operating at high settings. I noticed the external aircraft doesn’t look as my production version, which provides better eye candy.
Lovely video. That scenery is awesome, and the plane looks like a real treat. I don't have X-Plane 11 yet, though I still have my old copy of the original. I'll be picking it up the first of the month.
Hi Wayne, both planes the turbo and non turbo behave the same regarding the Saitek Panel gear leaver. I have raised this with Just Flight. Started flying the plane in VR last night. I felt it was harder to read a lot of the text. Seemed not as clear as flying the default C172. Performance wise, no problems. Once mouse use is provided it will be much easier to interact with buttons etc. I’d be interested if anyone else is having the problem I do with the Saitek Panel and if not, what software they use. I use Xsaitekpanels plugin.
I've flown to peterborough connington airport in real life, flown from andrewsfielf to there twice, for solo cross country and qualifyier, there is a 182 there i think, a couple of robinsons, a gazelle that stops there every so often and a business jet, a couple of twin props too, a nice airport to be at and the bar is awesome for getting a bacon sandwich :)
Hello Captain I came up thru the GA side of things and went Corporate, and having flown a massive amount of types from Cub to Citation X and Challengers. These smaller birds are quite good fun to fly if properly modeled. You have good content and nice quality video. Having been in Mo's first 30 it is rewarding to see the group grow and prosper. I enjoyed your bug spot approach and touch down. As you know we plan and God laughs and rewards us sometimes, but landing was a cut pass as my Signal Landing Officer would say. Thanks! My content is growing at youtube/jagjet.
Are there any predefined tasks or pick up and fly basically , i want to have some propose to it , i know its a sim, but in sim racing the goal is to be faster then others , in plane sim it would be , starting small learning abdn becoming a pilot of some big company , or its there nothing of that sort .
Hi Wayne, I purchased the Arrow III today and the only issue I have in my initial flights is that my Saitek Switch Panel doesn't seem to control the gear. Default XPlane aircraft with retractable gear work well but not this one. Any thoughts? Do you use the Saitek Switch Panel?
I have the Turbo version and since the latest update, I have to admit that they really improved the flight model which looks much more realistic now. I m still not convinced about the flare behavior. I know the real Arrow sinks easily but if you look at LewDix Aviation video, flying the arrow and doing power off landing, he can flare it gently even without power. In the sim, there is an issue in my opinion with the drag of the prop beeing too high when running at high RPM. Decreasing the RPM slightly allows to get a more realistic behavior back but one should not reduce prop pitch in real life during the approach. But above all it is a very great plane. I ve modified the speed at which the spark plug fools cause the rate by default is definitely too fast. Same for the warning pop up message in case of spark plug fooling or vapor lock. I deactivate the pop up feature so that it gives a real sense doing a runnup before take off to detect any issue with the mags. Cons: I would love if they d had created separate sound channels. For instance, the rolling sound is way too loud. Turning down the interior sound solves it but it also turns down the ATIS and Morse code ident volume to a level that can barely be heard. So that s annoying. The click sound of the mags key like all JF planes is just awfull and too loud. PS: I don t mind about hearing extra noise around you. Keep doing your great vids.
Good morning, Luna. Thanks to your explanation, now I know that aircraft plugins go into the aircraft folder, and scenery plugins go into the global scenery folder. I also understood that I need the FlyWithLua plugin to run other plugins. Now, if you do not mind, I would like to ask another question... in which folder shall I download the FlyWithLua plugin? Thank you very much and have a nice day. Larissa.
Plugins, like FlyWithLua, go into the following folder: Resources/Plugins NOT into any other folder! Add-on scenery goes into the Custom Scenery folder NOT the Global Scenery folder. Add-on aircraft go into the Aircraft folder.
Absolutely love your videos. I was an avid fox user way back when and am now an xplane newby. Videos like yours have rekindled my interest with a new passion thanks. Do you have a shaker system for your sim?
Luna's World I work at the 15th Operational Weather Squadron at Scott AFB. We do the forecasts for a very large area. Thule just happens to be one of bases within our AOR
Hi Wayne, I got this aircraft from the XPlane store as the bundle with the T-Tail version and, although it is a nice aircraft to fly, I have found one VERY annoying quirk! If the touchdown is fairly hard there is a very loud klaxon that sounds continuously with no way to silence it other than reset the flight back to the beginning.
It's a beautiful bird def my fav in XP right now also, killing me not able to fly it yet in native VR I really want to continue on my WT in the piper but don't want to go back to Flyinside lol.
+Luna's World Meant to mention to ya man,I know between YT and RL ur time is prob limited but another YTuber by the name of Bambino Games has set up a Facebook group called VR Aviators if u fancy checking it out sometime, and just in the past couple of days he has also set up a FSE group same name.Only mention it as u are getting into ur VR flying so u might find the group helpful if u encounter any issues.
Hello, Luna. An excellent review video. I am new to this but I have actually taken a few hours in an real Piper Arrow 28. I do not know how to install sceneries or plugins or addons to improve my X-Plane Cessna flights. So I wonder if you or a skilled friend of yours could charge some fees to help me improve my experience. I am in a third-world country and I don't know anybody here who could help me. Hope to hear from you. Larissa
Oh thanks for watching, its super easy to install plugins - usually just drag and drop into the folders - many youtube videos out there. Don't pay anyone to give you advice...its all there. If I can help with anything specific, just ask. Thanks for watching.
It really depends what the plugins are. Scenery plugins go into the 'Custom Scenery' folder, aircraft go into the 'aircraft' folder and you'll probably need to get 'flywithlua' to install anything else. A lot of plugins us the lua engine.
Wayne, I've received feedback from Just Flight. There is a fix for the gear lever on the Saitek Panel. See Forum post: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/134559-saitek-gear-not-working/ I've checked out both aircraft and the fix works well. Regards, Paul
I must say, another bug bare is the sound on landing. Very hard to get a "sweet" kiss on the runway. Sounds like a bag of bricks being dropped from a great height.
Very realistic looking aircraft, except for the ridiculously fake looking strobes!!! Why would they put gigantic strobe halos on an otherwise great looking aircraft? Especially in the daylight. It's very cartoonish looking. But the rest of the aircraft looks very nice, except for the black/white Artificial Horizon. This is NOT an easy aircraft to land. I wonder what your CFI would say about landing this aircraft in the sim compared to real life. You really, really have to be on your game to get a smooth landing with this aircraft. Especially if you're coming from a Cesna.

Hey Wayne, have you checked it out in VR yet? It probably has an excellent cockpit for VF flying.

Yep, I have the same issue too with the gear lever....I'll raise it too! I don't have blurriness in VR though...

Enjoyed your review. What do you consider as the minimum PC specs to enjoy XPlane 11?

Which ICAO airport are you flying from here Luna? Thanks
Please do another flight in this

wildgoobsid5 thanks so much! Yes, I have a Jetseat and also a body shaker
IS there any game where you earn credits flying and then you buy new plane osr upgrades ? Would really like that, please answer
There is an add on for XP called FSEconomy
Hey Wayne, with the 2D windows to access various functionality of the plane, will these work in VR, I.e., XPlane VR Native mode?
Hi Paul, no, the menu will appear on the monitor.
I actually do the weather forecasts for Thule.
And it's said Tooleee
Hahaha thanks!
And wow, that is cool. So you work at the MET?
Luna's World I work at the 15th Operational Weather Squadron at Scott AFB. We do the forecasts for a very large area. Thule just happens to be one of bases within our AOR
TheDNick very cool! Literally :)

David Carroll Thanks for that David, there is nothing in the manual with reference to the klaxon or how to silence it! Thanks again.

Its amazing in VR
yep really cool stuff

I say old chap...splendid aircraft but for some reason I'm annoyed at the worn black finish on the yoke ...can we repaint it somehow☺?
I think you can change the livery and one has a normal yoke...
Thurlee?

GIVE ME THE KEY PLZ!! I'VE DOWNLOADED FROM THE PIRATE BAY.

HSI!!!! To be credible as IFR aircraft. HSI!!!
This plane doesn't fly that good. VFlyteAirs is a lot more realistic
sabakagrande I’ve flown the Pa-28 turbo arrow 3 in real life and I just have to say that the flight dynamics of both of them aren’t really realistic
