Also, for those that don't have a numpad you can set each preset view "slot" to a different key on your keyboard. I personally just set each one to Shift+*Number*
Evan Weiler , I tried to save each view by holding control and one of numbers on pad, but that doesn't save anything to that number on the pad. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
Ty, thank you so much! Newly switched over from FSX to X-Plane 11 and trying to learn from the pros like yourself. Great video and now I have my views mapped for the default 737-800! Have been a follower for quite a while now and will continue to watch your videos!
Hey, one extra tip I just discovered: if you have TrackIR, you can use it to "lean" out of the cockpit and, while outside the cockpit, shut off head tracking. Then you can position the camera for Ty's patented wing views without having to hack the config file.
Hi, I'm a Sim pilot also, and I found out that you can open the cockpit door, and scroll or use the mouse and arrow keys to get back in the passenger area, and I was able to get by the wings and look out the window and see the Flaps in action!. Check it out, but it takes a while for the camera to get there. unless you do the speed hotkey trick, but I forgot which key it was. lol. Good luck. Terry
Hey Cat, I believe I'm able to do the exact same thing (without mod-ing a config file) by hitting Shift-6, setting up the view, then hitting the CTRL+NumPad button. I only learned this though by watching your video and experimenting. The video is much appreciated, thanks!
Thank you very much for showing an amazing great tutorial,if I'm not wrong I would say that's the best so far I've come across on YT nicely done easy to follow. Keep it up.....👍
I have seitek yolk and X plane which automatically set the hat on the LH of the yolk to pan around inside and out, along with full stop and comma to pan in and out
OK so on your Windows keyboard on the far right you should have a number keypad. Now on this keypad in the top left corner there is a key that says 'NUM LOCK'. Press this key and num lock will come on. press it againg and it will turn off.
Thanks for the good info you have done.I have a question tho ,when you are taxiing loutside view looking from the tail forward as the plane is taxing, BUT when you turn The camera does not follow the tail, how make it follow the tail when I do the turns left and right ? Like we did in FSX or P3dv4 or 5 ?
Catstrator....regarding the "x", "y" and "z" axis this might help. These are coordinates in three dimensions with "x" being horizontal, "y" being vertical and "z" being "up and down". Draw a straight line across a sheet of paper (laying on a table) from left to right. Next, draw another straight line down the sheet of paper from top to bottom with the two lines intersecting in the middle. The left to right line is the "x" axis with anything on the left side of the"y" axis line being ....-x....and anything on the right side of the of the "y" axis line being....+x or simply.....x. Same thing for the top to bottom line. Above the "x" axis line is "+y" or simply "y" and anything below the "x" axis line is....."-y". Where the two lines intersect is your "0,0" coordinate. Now imagine the paper laying on a table with a line going through the "0,0" coordinate from above the table to below. That's the "z" axis which is the height above or below the flat plane or table on which the paper is laying. Where all three lines intersect is called the "0,0,0" coordinate. Anything above the plane of the table is a "+z" or just "z" and anything below the plane of the table is called "-z". Now, any point in the entire system can be defined by location. All that's left to do is to decide on the units of measure.....i.e......inches, centimeters, feet, yards, miles, kilometers etc. Hope this helps. Great job on the video!!
Very good and got few good thoughts for me. I do have one question tho ..I need a view ""FIX to follow the Tail"" as to taxiing , as the plane is turning so is the View point staying with the Craft .What should I be doing to setup ?
Awesome, I have multiply monitors, with home cockpit, I always wanted set the middle monitor to view Hood with propeller only, and side monitors to wing view only. This video showed me how to hack the views in "X" and "Y" and "Z" access in word pad, thanks very much and regards.
Hello and thank you! Is there any way to map a view to a different monitor (without a plugin) so I could push the various cockpit control views to a fourth monitor?
Nice, helpful video thums up.,,but a, my file does not look lk. yours, does not have all those various cam coordinates but just a few lines. Is smtg. wrong in what I dloaded then..?
Great video, thanks. I loved the original views on 5 and 2. I only have one small problem. I setup two external views for Cessna but as I'm turning the plane the external views also rotate thus spoiling the angle of the original view I did setup. Is there a way to handle this?
Thank you so much its was very helpful and I just did not do the wing cams because I couldn't get the folder but its ok but thank you so much and do you still stream on fridays(P.S. I live in South Africa)
I followed and did everything but the views didn't work for me. I press the shift keys with the individual numbers but it didn't work. I also don't know how to pan inside the interior (passenger seating) of the airplane. Is there a plugin for that?
Great Video but i want go know how to set up overlay camera so that when i take off i can see the cockpit view as well as i can see wing view at the same time.
Thanks Clay! You will need to do this for each plane you load up as the configuration is stored on a per-plane basis in their respective aircraft folder.
great video! I received a free copy of x plane 11 from FlightSimCon and I'm going to try to switch to it from FSX. Does X plane have camera shake effects built in?
How do you set the view to view " Hood and Prop" only. I have moltipy monitors and homemade Cockpit, I like to set the middle view to "Hood and prop" only and use my own cockpit
You can either move the camera out there, or turn on the view mode that is forward facing with no elements. I don't know if there is a way to get hood and proper only, though.
Locate that binding in the menu and set it to the appropriate camera position. There's a link to my key bindings in the description of the video, one of them includes binding a camera position (I think position 4)
Thanks for everything Ty I was always wondering how you got all those nice views of the plane. Also is it when you set the view say ctrl+4 for pilot's view, do you just type the key command ctrl+4 or just 4? I'm wondering this because I have speed brakes set for 4
Hey catstrator I am wondering if I were to update my Zibo and I want to keep my same camera configuration could I extract this folder and copy it into my newer version? This folder being the prefs folder?
Hey Cat, I have a real dilemma, I want to get a fast small private jet / regional jet aircraft. I have looked at a few options, I am looking for an aircraft that is good on FPS super fun to fly, and has a good modelled exterior and interior. These are some of the airplanes I am considering, and I was wondering which one you like the best and recommend. Eclipse 550, Jrollan CRJ 200, Hawker 4000, or the E50p PHENOM, I have no idea which on to choose from and I just need some recommendation. -Thanks Nick.
The Eclipse is my personal recommendation. Have not flown the hawker or the Phenom. CRJ200 is a bit dated at this point and is in need of an update (but it is an incredibly fun one to fly). Note that the Eclipse isn't terribly fast; cruises about 100kts true slower than comparable jets.

I do exactly that, I press "ctrl" button and a number on the numberpad, and then I go back to default view and then I press my wanted view but it doesn't do anything. did u set a setting before making this video?
Hey guys I tried with few planes (with the standard 172 as well) and the arrow keys are not moving the camera at all. What am I missing? (XPlane 11.25)
In p3D V4, when you put the camera in tracking mode and the plane makes a turn, what moves is the plane not the horizon, in X Plane 11, when the plane makes a turn, what really moves is the horizon , not the plane, is it correct? Greetings.
Hey great video but I didn’t understand about the changing the the cameras on the folder of the game pe x something there is not number nine at my folder thanks

I just ordered XPlane 11 off Amazon last week and am anxiously awaiting the arrival! Love your videos and has helped me learn a lot! Thank you!
At this point I'm guessing you have it! Thanks for tuning in :)

Hah, not quite.

This didn’t help at all I had Num lock and I hit control 4 on the keypad and it still didn’t work
You can open the cabin door and move throughout the cabin in the 737, as well as open all of the external doors and emergency exits.
You can now, that was not in place as of this video
Thanks so much.I am new to x-plane and I have been flying flight sim x for years and trying something different.Great tutorial

Instead of the glitch to ger through the door you can always open the door since the door does open and close on the base model 737-800 in xplane 11
At the time of recording this was not the case.
Outstanding! just what i was looking for to configure my X-Plane 11, Thank You. You The Best
O thank this was very helpful. Have fun at sim con 😎
Glad to hear, Ken! Thanks for watching.
More of this. I loved Matt Davies' tutorial videos when he was making them, and there is definitely a void there now that he isn't doing them.
Definitely something I want to do more of. Thanks for watching, Andy.

Looks that way.
Xplane 12 is going to be great balls of fire, after seeing this old video lol~!
Thx so much! I was dying to be able to get that wing view on the 738!

Very good and got few good thoughts for me. I do have one question tho ..I need a view ""FIX to follow the Tail"" as to taxiing , as the plane is turning so is the View point staying with the Craft .What should I be doing to setup ?

8:32 did you know what where is a door handle? which opens the door, its very smart
this version of x plane didn’t have door handles
well working ones anyway
It doesn't work for me. I hit CTRL (numpad number), for different views, but when i click that numpad number again, nothing happens... Please help.
Calzzyy Ok, so yeah, in my case my numpad was just disabled because of numlock. Make sure your numpad is enabled guys.
You have to use ctrl+numpad to set the view; then use the numpad number on its own to switch to that view
Weird thing for me is, I can set numpad-1 to a view. But that's it. I can't set any other views to any other numbers. Any help would be appreciated.
u sometimes try shift numpad number or make sure its left ctrl
make sure numlock is on
Hey man how did you go back so far everytime I try to zoom out the seat is in the way

You can't do that in x-plane using a single instance of the sim, sadly.

UltimateSimulation Not really, but there is a setting on one of the tabs,
Hikoshi thanks, I installed x plane, and I see the option, it's called Cinima Voltaire or something
Check out an addon called "HeadShake"

How do you get a scenery pluggin?
You can buy them or get them for free. Check out x-plane.org.
After setting the num key for the camera view how do you then assign a yoke button to show the number key same view? Thanks.
Locate that binding in the menu and set it to the appropriate camera position. There's a link to my key bindings in the description of the video, one of them includes binding a camera position (I think position 4)

you press control + number to set them and just the number to use them. I recommend to use the numpad for this if you have one.
Thank you!!! Ist helps a lot 😀 i was afraid of using xcamera. But this is much simpler 😉
X-Camera would be easier, but the point was to show it using the stock camera system.
catstrator it could be.. but now I have my settings because of your video 😀 thx again for it 😉
Hey catstrator I am wondering if I were to update my Zibo and I want to keep my same camera configuration could I extract this folder and copy it into my newer version? This folder being the prefs folder?
yeah, copy the prefs file in the root folder and it'll keey everything.
I love it! Just a quick question, are those default xplane trees in the scenery? Because they look really good!
Not default no
Nope. Lufkar Spadaro payware from X-Plane.org

How do I make the default 737 sound like a 737 and not like a computer generated 1995 sound effect?
Check out the Zibo mod at x-plane.org's forums.
I miss some of te text dok on the pref tex, I dont finde where I can save outside wing cam, do you now how I can get that back?

9:00 is there any way to do that in Flight Simulator 2020?
No idea, haven't tried yet
catstrator Ok! If you find one please let me know because I really want the passenger view in flight sim 2020 haha
At the 737 part are those default planes parked at the gates or is it a mod and what mod if it is one?
MisterX KBOS. You can get it for free from x-plane.org.
catstrator Thanks man, keep up the great vids and livestreams!
And shift+w is good for shoot down a plane by fighter
What did you do to run the people? And what is the name of the airport?
I don't know what you mean. The airport is KBOS by MisterX
What airport/runway is this called it looks cool i want to use it?
This was KBOS
Boston Logan (KBOS). Scenery is free on x-plane.org
how did you turn your head view?
So how do u scroll? I’m knew to xplane 11 and when I move my mouse to scroll, it won’t work so what button do I push? Thx
Each plane has to implement scroll wheel support

to get wing view i open this but i dont have enough texts in limux mint
