IMPO ground tents are superior in many ways when contrasted against RTT’s or wedge style campers. I’ve owned many variants. Ground tents are lighter, more cost effective, more versatile, separate from the vehicle, don’t burden your vehicle when not in use, etc. Great subject.

I've used mainly the Keron 4 on my overlanding trips. It was extremely reliable even at wind velocities of up to 120 km/h. Very quick to set up and very robust. I've used it now for over 10 years on countless trips around the world without any problems. Highly recommended.

Understanding this test was for compact tents you can fit in a small suv, we've been using an OZtent RV3 for about eight years now and still love it. We switched away from RTT years ago because of the hassle with our dogs and we hated the way our 110 performed off road with the extra weight up top. Honestly the OZtent has proven quicker and easier to setup and take down even considering taking it on and off the roof rack. For us and our family unit, the downsides of having a ground tent are very minor compared to its real work service and practicality.

Great episode! Would you do an episode on the best softroaders like Subaru Outback, Toyota RAV4, etc?

Toyota guy here, a Subaru will out-wheel a Rav 4 any day. Subaru has the best AWD system of any softroader.

For those who think ground tents aren't durable, they obviously never heard of the Hilleberg brand. I've seen toyotas break down before these things do.

Agree. They last multiple seasons in Antarctica

This is really helpful information. I just wonder why you're using headphones when you're not taking calls or interviewing guests who are at a remote location. I mean, you're both in the same room. Can't you hear each other? Or are you using the headphones as a prop?

It allows us to hear the recording quality and isolates us from other noises in the office.
