"The Reckoning" was such a good episode for Odo/Kira after they got together. Such awesome shippy moments ... the head nuzzle, their lunch date, and then the scene where she tells him that she's glad he supports her faith, even if he doesn't understand it.
I'm only responding as thanks for viewing. ODO was raised and lab trained by a Bajorans all talking BAJORAN to him around him, he probably also picked up Cardassian as he didn't have a translator nor any really while growing forming into an 'adult'. Once he started working for Cardassia as security & then for Bajor the multi alien station he might have gotten one. The Female Changling just seems to know so Changlings could have innate ability to interpret other aliens, Laas just appeared knowing what peope where saying. Finally just assume guess it's scifi fantasy. The books have new aliens speaking to other new aliens and nothing about native developed tech in translators is brought up, so it's a in-universe assumed non issue unless concocted for a dramatic story.

I was peeved when Kira hit Odo. Seemed very out of character for her -- especially with Odo being a dear old friend and love interest at that point.
