This video is amazing-to the point, helpful and very clear. Thanks for making this! Quick question- I have been impressed with the processing of the rodecaster duo and i'm curious the advantages or disadvantages of bypassing the processing to send the unprocessed audio to riverside for recording? Thanks!
Thank you! And it depends on your editing preferences. I tend to edit the audio after recording by adding EQ / compressor, but if you want to apply those effects while you record, the duo does a great job of that! You just can’t “remove” those effects and processing after recording
Love the Rodecaster plus Riverside! I‘ve been using it for over a year now. One problem though: my remote recording partner says he can hardly hear anything when I play clips via soundboard. The volume on the mixer is cranked up… any idea?
We're glad you love it! So you may need to go into the Rode Connect software on your computer > Device Configuration > Routing > Choose USB 1 (assuming that's the port connecting to your computer), and try to adjust the media board volume there. It looks like the waveform icon.
FINALLY Thank you! I have been hunting for mixminus for months and never thought to look in the desktop software. I have been having serious audio drift issues, hoping this solves it
I bought the Røde Streamer X … the biggest mistake. No problem with audio, but there are nothing but problems with the video part and the Unify software (Mac). Happy new year :)
@@Riversidefmwhen you use QT to record on a M1 Mac Mini, streamer X changes fps and you cannot record in 4K. UniFy is just bad software, constantly resetting itself, shutting down. Love the breakdown. I'm having trouble hearing the audio from channel 1 and the guest on Riverside in the same set of headphones. Any tips on connecting both audio channels through the RodeCaster Duo?
Hey there! Are you plugging your headphones directly into the Rodecaster Duo? And if so, when you go into the Rode Connect app, can you see the levels set for headphone 1? Make sure the first mic input and usb are turned up in the faders.

Great video for beginners like myself. I’m filming a virtual episode, but I cannot hear my guest. When I export the video on Riverside, her audio is there with mine. What settings do I need to adjust to let me hear the guests audio?
Are you choosing the Rodecaster Dup as the speaker in Riverside? If so, you’ll need to plug in wired headphone to the headphone 1 port, and then use the Rode software like I showed here to raise the volume on the USB channel in the Headphone 1 mix.
Hi, I have the Rodecaster Duo and am connected to the Riverside FM interface. I am being shown this message 'We can't access your video'. What should I do? It was working originally. However, there was feedback for my remote guest. So we followed the instructions you gave connecting the Rodecaster duo, but now there is no feed going to the Riverside fm interface/website.

Your videos are super helpful thank you - I am new to podcasting and currently do them via Riverside just using computer mics/ear buds/headphones etc. I plan to expand this - for now it will be me solo with remote guests but in time I plan to do most in person, two people. For now, while im solo I was thining about getting the Rodecaster Duo with pod mic and running a setup like this video - use Riverside to dial in the guest and record etc. What is the best way to use my canon mirrorless camera for the video - can I plug this into the Rodecaster? When I eventually have in-person episodes can riverside still be used to handle the recording/editing etc? Many thanks.

This is a great video! I do have a question: when using the Rodecaster Duo, where would I be able to access the audio files after I record an episode? Would they be available on riverside’s platform, or would I have to access the micro SD card?
thanks! If you're recording with Riverside, the files you access will be in the Riverside dashboard! If you're recording without Riverside, you'll need to insert a microSD card, hit record on the board, and then access those files from the SD card on your computer.
It can be used for music too, yes. Most pieces of software should recognize it as a USB interface, but I'm not specifically familiar with FL studio, sorry about that!
Hi there, I followed the complete step-by-step guide from the video, but in Riverside I can only choose the RodeCaster Duo Chat as my microphone. In the speaker dropdown I can select 'Rodecaster Duo main'. What am I doing wrong? I can select Rodecaster Duo Main in Windows as my recording and playback devices....
You may need to go to the Midi Settings Utility on your Mac and enable the Main input. Search spotlight for "Audio Midi Setup" and then click your device in the left sidebar.
Ok. I've followed the instructions in the video. I'm missing something I think. I hooked up the mic's and they showed up and worked. When I go into studio, they aren't being picked up. When I talk into them, the volume isn't moving in Riverside and I don't hear anything in the headphones.
Are you selecting the “Main” option or “chat” option for the Rodecaster? And are you plugged into that respective USB port on the back? If so, go to the Rode connect app, device settings and routing, and see if both channels are turned up!
Hello and thank you for this video. I have a question. How can you control the volume of the monitors out ? can you do that with the big knob? Is that possible?
One thing that is strange. When I mute the mic (red button) under channel one - i cant hear my voice which is good BUT when i play the file back it has recorded my voice so i can hear my talking / coughing etc. Why is this? Why is my mic / voice still being picked up somewhere when recording despite me muting that channel?? Help please! Thanks
Are you talking about the recording in Riverside? If so, the mute button on the Rodecaster panel does not affect the USB input audio. For that, use the mute control in the Riverside studio itself!

If you change the audio routing settings so soundboard is played OUT via the USB connection, they will be recorded in your Riverside track as well. But it will be alongside your voice, not a separate track, just keep that in mind.
