Grandma's Cat Head Biscuits - 100 year old recipe

  • 8"-10" biscuit/cornbread pan
    large mixing bowl
    stong stirring spoon
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 Tablespoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 Tablespoon Baking powder
    approximately 1 cup buttermilk (may take more or less)
    Canola Oil (can substitute bacon grease or lard)
    1. Stir all dry ingredients together well in a mixing bowl.
    2. add buttermilk as needed (see video).
    3. knead dough adding flour as needed (see video)
    4. Put biscuits into a greased pan dipping each individually into the oil and then flipping over.
    5. Cook in a preheated 400-degree F oven / check after 25 minutes. Cook until browned to your taste.
    NOTE: MIX ALL DRY INGREDIENTS WELL BEFORE ADDING BUTTERMILK.
    *The Key to this is in the kneading of the dough. the more you knead, the more fluffy the biscuits. Have to have a feel for how much buttermilk to add and how much flour to sprinkle when creating the dough.
    You can change the dry ingredient amounts to get different consistencies to change your results.
