Caleb, thank you, thank you, thank you. I needed this video decades ago. Great detailed education on how to clean a Remington 870. Again, thank you for ALL you share with your followers.

Funny...My son, grandson, and I just took out the shotguns yesterday to bust some clays. One of those was my treasured 870 Wingmaster manufactured in March of 1979. I have lovingly cared for that gun for all these years and it is still in dang near NIB condition. It came with a 28 in full choke. No choke tubes then. We all remarked after shooting that gun yesterday how it made missing a target almost hard to do. I have replaced the follower with an aluminum one and also replaced the extractor as a preemptive measure against failure. With all the recent turmoil and changes in the Remington world, my "real" 870 Wingmaster has become priceless in my collection. Thank you for the ...soothing video.

Thank you for this video. The 870 was my 1st given to me by my grandpa.

The sound of racking a Remington 870 is just iconic. Its the defualt sound everybody thinks of when they think about racking a pump shotgun. Some shotguns sound similar but just not quite the same. I don't know, I guess maybe it's the types of metal used to make the shotgun that gives its distinct sound.

So I usually prefer mossbergs, but I got a tac14 and shockwave at almost the same time, for science. There are some things that I'm now seeing that I think I like better on the remington when it comes to disassembly. Those interruptor arms that don't fall out are one of them 😆

This was one of the best videos yet. Super helpful. I cut myself so many times doing this so I don’t feel so alone now.

Excellent video. My only comment is my procedure for cleaning any firearm is after field stripping/disassembly is to run a fairly wet patch (w/ Hoppe’s) through the barrel. That way it can get to work while I further work on the rest of the gun.

Thanks, years ago a game warden was messing with me as I was leaving a snipe pond, made me take my gun out of my truck, inspected it ,leaned it against my truck, walked me around to the driver's side and told me good day. Flustered I backed up and ran over my gun, he thought it was hilarious. I've been afraid to take it apart, now maybe I'll try.

I had my hammer get stuck one time on an 870 that was very rarely shot - it caused a dead trigger and I wasn't sure what happened but after taking the trigger group out I found it was stuck down after being cocked due to rust/dry metal so I try to lube that area up quite a bit especially on shotguns that may not get used all that often.

I can appreciate folks going above and beyond to take care of their firearms but in reality a lot of this extra work is not needed. I’ve been using ballistol on all my firearms going on 6 years now and not one of them has rust, always performed flawlessly and always stood clean even with they was stored for long periods of time. I’m sure it’s also not required but as for my going the extra mile mark, I always give them a quick clean after every use rather than letting the gun power and carbon rest on the gun for days, weeks or even months. A simple spray and wipe down on the frame and inside the barrel will do just fine But if a full teardown and deep cleaning is your thing, then have at it as long as you enjoy doing the maintenance!

My Grandpas old 870 wingmaster had a stamped sheet metal one. I don't think it's necessary, but it makes disassembly a little easier.

Wow, Brownells stocks air duster in reach of employees for ease of accessment?
I worked at an auto shop that kept brake cleaner cans in the parts dept and we had to specifically ask for each can.
