Very happy to see Metro Awakening at #1 because I was surprised to see so much negativity surrounding what I thought was easily one of the best VR games ever made. It's even my #5 GOTY pick overall and my #1 VR pick for this year (i havent played any of the other games on this list though as I play mainly on PSVR2 and only recently bought a Quest 3 tocplay Arkham Shadow and AC Nexus lol)
Nice list. Never heard about Maestro but I now need this! My number one this year is Lone Echo which I could never play properly before, but now with a quest 3 and virtual desktop, I finally understand what I have been missing all these years!
You are going to love Maestro, its so addicting. Lone Echo 1 and 2 were so good, such a shame we lost Ready at Dawn, they made the PSP God of War games too.
Thanks so much! I'm still trying to figure out the best day to post stuff hopefully now that I got a few videos under my belt I can get on a good schedule in 2025.
Such a good video, you generate incredible content Bonezz, I wish you a Happy New Year! Right now I'm playing Underdogs thanks to you, it is not my cup of tea but I can't help but appreciate everything that it brings to the table. Next stop: Batman and Half life Alyx!
those Battletech mech pods were a major influence on me as well, I'll have to give Iron Rebellion a shot, Arizona Sunshine remake was awesome too!...I totally fell in love with Buddy in the second game too.
Those pods were such a big deal for my friends and I growing up. Iron Rebellion definitely scratches that itch (but now I'm over here googling if the pods still exist somewhere).
@@bonezzVR oh man!, I would travel half way across Dublin(Ireland) to get to one of the pods, I was in them so much I wound up going out with one of the Battletech Staff after she kicked my ass ingame for the 500th time lol, I would LOVE to get back in...to the pod I mean! :p
i played ALYX when i got my quest 3 this summer and i almost regret it, because every indie company try hard game i tried since have fallen short. i really had my hopes up for metro awakening but here in sweden atleast you can refund a game if you played less than 2 hours and i did just that. did the same with blade and sorcery. for me it's a big disapointment to have seen what vr can be with halflife and then not being able to find it again. the one game other than ALYX i have put alot of hours in to is VAIL than also truly feel like a big dev game even tho it aint.
great video yet its a shame that synapse didn't make the cut, Im having a LOT of fun in it cant even lie due to all the shenanigans with the telekinesis and the fast paced sequences, its pretty challenging too cant lie
Didn't that come out in 2023? Unfortunately, I can't check out PSVR2 exclusives for the time being, maybe when I get more traction on the channel I can justify it. The headset and controllers have some really nice features.
That's tough. Overall I would pick Underdogs but if you want a more traditional mech experience I would go with Iron Rebellion. If you mean ever in history it might be MechWarrior 4 or Hawken for the brief time it was good.
Seems like almost every major VR release this year was hit or miss for people. I thought Metro was flawless but it got review bombed day 1 because a lot of people couldn't even get it to start. Luck of the draw I guess.
@bonezzVR you should do a video about VR classics from like 2017 to 2020. WILSON'S HEART needs to be on that list. It's like being inside a black and white Universal Monster film. The only critique of have is it only has teleport movement. That aside it became an instant VR classic when released exclusive on the Meta Rift store in 2017, I believe.
I might cover tech some day, I wish I had more experience with a wider range of headsets, but this is an expensive hobby haha. I reinvest everything I make from the channel back into content, that's the only reason I was able to grab a Quest 3. So if things pick up momentum and I can justify the cost then I will definitely start doing some content like that. Maybe a video on my hunt for a valid replacement to my Valve Index, I can't hold out for an Index 2 much longer lol.
@@bonezzVR Lol I feel ya, the price of hardware is a big hurdle for people, like me lol vr-less. One day I hope to get a Bigscreen Beyond headset, the big bricks don't appeal to me
News subscriber here! - Great video and I look forward to watching more in 2025. I have had PSVR1 since day 1 - and now have a PSVR2 -, and I am getting a Quest 3S next month just to play more games, and hopefully find some fun 180 videos on TH-cam, and see what mixed reality can bring to the table. - I know Quest 3 is a lot better than the 3S, but I can't really justify buying a Q3 when I already have PSVR2. - What do you guys think? Will 3S satisfy my "itch" to play non-PSVR2 games, and also watch TH-cam videos and mixed-reality? As long as the quality is better than PSVR1 I tihnk I will be happy with it.
Do you have a PC or are you looking to only play standalone? The 3s seems like a solid headset and plays all the newer quest games but if you have a PC you could just hook up the psvr2 headset to the PC.
@@bonezzVR Yep, I do have a PC, but it is not powerful enough to run most modern games. But will definitely try the PC/PSVR connection when I make an upgrade. - Standalone is what I can do right now, so I will add a 3s to my gear :) - Thanks for answering!
I ended up refunding Metro awakening because I had a lighting glitch that just wouldn't go away at all, it's a shame too because I was looking forward to playing it
Arizona Sunshine remake and original felt so archaic to me, and Metro was boring, repedative and a far cry from the namesake it slapped on itself, no weapon wear, the selection of weaponry was shallow plus no customization of said weapons, once one enemy spots you they ALL know EXACTLY where you are and the levels are just copy paste over and over it just gets old FAST imo, HL Alyx, Bonelab and into the radius 1 and 2 stomp Metro's overrated ass to the earth's CORE!!!...
i played this year Batman, Metro, Underdogs, Iron Rebellion, Blade and S, and imho still the best games in VR are pcvr game mods..Alien Isolation, Resident evil series, Doom 3, Cyberpunk, Outer wilds......each of these games mods is light years ahead of what was released on vr for 2024...And so I ask why games that are older than 10 years (doom, alien) and the mod was created by a fan looks better than everything that was released? And i know Vr headsets are limited with their hardware, but i thinnk developers should be pushed to making games in flat screen and vr screen too...It should be in options in every new AAA games...Thats the future for Vr imho...
I need to revisit that one next year. I didn't have a single technical problem with Metro, but I could barely get Alien to function properly. When I finally did get it working, I thought it felt atrocious to play. The magnetic hands and weighted arms drove me nuts on top of fog effects and reflections flickering constantly. I want to give it a couple patches before really giving an opinion of it. The "part 1" situation also feels intentionally misleading even if they didn't intend it to.
@ realism is what makes games fun. That’s why Half Life Alyx is still the best VR game ever made. Realistic physics and graphics. It’s way better than scripted animations.
@ vertigo made after the fall. Awesome game. Metro was pretty boring. I felt like I was standing around too much (which I was literally since I always play vr standing lol)
I do agree that metro stumbles with its pacing. A lot of unskippable story sequences can be a drag when you just want to experience the gameplay loop. I loved the game though.
@JPDD2 I thought After the Fall was one of the worst VR games I've ever played tbh. Metro Awakening was easily thr best one I've ever played (after Beat Saber of course) and is probably my #5 pick for GOTY this year (overall, not just for VR). Out of interest, have you ever played a Metro game before? I love the other 3 games and honestly Awakening had WAAAY less dialogue and cutscenes than them did. I wish there were more segments of speaking to characters in Awakening actually
@ atf was basically vr lfd idk how you don’t like it but ok. Beat saber is just ddr for a new generation so I don’t really care. Yes I have beaten all metro games on ranger. Metro vr is boring. I don’t care about dialogue in a vr game. I can talk to real people for that.
Share your lists and favorite games from 2024! See you all next year!

Loved the videos you put out this year. Really high quality content, keep up the great work!
I just had to look up what a super was. You humble me and it all goes back into the channel. Lots more on the way!
Man, you genuinely already have easily one of the best VR channels.
I wish haha. I really appreciate it and hopefully I can earn that compliment this year now that Im finding my footing.

this video is really well done i know
none of these games but i was engaged
That's awesome to hear! Definitely recommend all of them if you're into VR.

I appreciate the name of "Iron Rebellion"being a very cheeky spin on "Steel Batallion"
That controller still lives in my head rent free.
@bonezzVR Same, I'm really happy someone finally tried remaking it in VR with this.
Nice list, there’s a few games on your list I haven’t heard of that I’m gonna have to check out
Oh which ones 👀
Top game for me was Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
Heard that new VR mod for it is pretty slick. Im going to have to check it out.
I was upset that Phasmophobia didn't make the list until I remembered that it's already been out on PCVR for a while now.
If you had to get one cockpit mech game, which would it be?
That's tough. Overall I would pick Underdogs but if you want a more traditional mech experience I would go with Iron Rebellion. If you mean ever in history it might be MechWarrior 4 or Hawken for the brief time it was good.

Oh I plan on it
From all of that list I've enjoyed only Underdogs despite I hate rougelike's. Excellent combat and atmosphere.
I usually hate roguelikes too but man something about Undersogs kept me hooked. It's one of the few that I've actually finished.
It'd be neat to get your opinion on VR gear, if you've tried different brands that is
