  • I have always been disappointed when I come back to Melbourne from Japan. You just can't replicate the food here in Melbourne, but 279 Cafe comes strikingly close!
    This is by far the most AUTHENTIC JAPANESE restaurant I have come across in Melbourne. Make sure you stop by here if you're in Melbourne, just a short walk from Queen Vic Market. Order the Crab Miso to bring you back to Tokyo while you're here down under!

    "Most Japanese places in Melbourne are crap." You gotta try a few more bro! - Fummi fummi, Toris, Le Bajo, Calia etc.

      Caila was not Japanese and is closed. Very little authentic Japanese places in Melbourne. Most are fused…

      @@Playtime-lu8wj no Calia served Japanese food but was owned by a Malaysian guy that failed to pay his employees properly

      @@Playtime-lu8wj Closed! Bummer. Yeah it wasn't Japanese but it served a lot of Japanese food. Tbh quality was dropping off last few times I went.
