      @ it’s still true. Need a QB which I think we have a lot better QB recruiting than Kelly but they need to use them and stop with the portal. Marcus has done great with Defense recruiting …
      Marcus can win the big games! But needs to conquer the small school ND Curse
      Kelly can’t win the big game still!!! And isn’t a players coach

    This is the most excited I have been about the ND football team , I remember when Jerome Bettis was a fullback even Allen Pinkett I can't wait to see how the player's respond and how far they are willing to go for coach Freeman? I really believe that coach Kelly did Notre Dame a huge favor because Freeman Is going to destroy the legacy that Kelly never could never create. Wait until Lsu gets a load of how he uses the QB position? Lol. And it was never a good gameplan so to speak well not good enough to even come close to winning a championship anyway so in my opinion it was nothing but a waste of time. Also I would love to see how the player's from LSU respond to getting a coach who basically abandoned these kids who he acted like he cared about ? I can tell you right now I wouldn't play for him , and I think Kelly is going to come and find out that move the way he went about his departure is going to come back and bite him on the ass. Because in my opinion honesty and respect goes a lot further than Kelly even realized when he decided to become a 2 faced coach and abandon his player's before even knowing if this team makes the playoffs??? Any player that play's hard for Kelly in my opinion after what he pulled with these young people doesn't understand humanity and the overall scheme of things. Let's go Irish.

      When that avoidable tragedy happened when Declan Sullivan was killed, every at Notre Dame said they didn’t know the scissor lift limits in windy conditions, but I read one quote that I can’t find now, where Kelly personally yelled at Declan to get up there after Declan expressed his concerns. Either way, looking back , I can see Kelly had shown narcissistic, and sociopathic tendencies, and the way he was able to do what he just did, confirms it. The Irish will be much better without him. I'm trying to think of any possible scenario where a whyte assistant coach w the exact same age and exact same resume as Freeman is even CONSIDERED, for one minute, for the head coaching job. And I can't. I was online and following the situation and I saw what happened. Current and former players, on the one hand (and 100% blk ones) pushed for their co-ethnic to get this prestigious job 100% for rayce reasons. On the other side you had virtue signalling fans pushing the same thing, either for virtue signalling reasons or bc they saw 'the players' and 'alumni' pushing it, didn't understand the motivations behind that, and just thought it was genuine enthusiasm.
    This is an absolutely disastrous decision by Swarbrick. This man was Luke Fickell's d-coordinator one year ago. Now you choose him over Fickell? He was barely qualified enough to be ND's d-coordinator. Fickell is going to go somewhere, or stay at Cincinnati, and win big and keep winning big. And Freeman is going to what? What does he do, exactly, that he's now the head coach? It wasn't a dominant defensive unit, and definitely not in the games against better offenses. Cincinnati didn't miss a beat without him. He had no recruiting rep at Cincinnati, and thus far has helped w maybe one class worth of good recruiting here. That's someone you keep on staff if possible (as Kelly tried to do), it's not someone you name coach at 35. Bob Diaco was a masterful recruiter, an all time recruiter - he would never in a million years have been considered for a promotion from Charlie's coordinator to head coach.
    This is virtue signalling gone horribly wrong. And when it flames out dramatically, as it's going to sooner rather than later, all those 'current and former players' are going to suddenly be pretty quiet. Or if anything they'll complain that he's not getting a fair shake from fans and media. And we know why they'll say that is. That's the other fun part of this. We all remember the Willingham situation. He was (100% correctly) fired, and what did the media say? So now ND is in a position where they will be reluctant to fire this guy when he inevitably is a disaster.
    W Fickell on the market and eager this is just an all time botch by Swarbrick and the administration and Jack should finally be fired for this. He is Stan Bowman.
    btw, all any opposing coach has to do in a recruiting battle w Freeman for a white recruit is show them and their family a picture of Freeman and HIS family. No white dude from a good enough family to play at ND is seeing that and wanting to be around that.

    Hope Freeman turns out well. It's an amazing opportunity, but some of the rationalizing on this podcast and others is nonsensical. The guy has been there only a year but he "gets" Notre Dame? Lou Holtz is stunned that a guy who was there 12 years would leave Notre Dame for $100 million. Goolsby and Hyde down play what Kelly did for the program. He is totally responsible for the turn around and bringing the program back to prominence. Tim Hyde needs to put the Kool-aid down. In the real world great ability in pro sports and business, gets paid for it...and people move on. Ladky accuses Kelly of not being a "closer" in recruiting, But Freeman is? He's only been there a season but he has mystical properties than the guy who found really good players year after year to make ND compete against stronger programs. I realize that these three guys are butt hurt but they are blind to reality. As for the coaches, some will stay because they will be paid more to do so and continuity is necessary for Freeman. Others will go if they are paid more to do so and get promoted. It's a no-brainer hire for Swarbrick . The players want him and those close to the program won't take a critical look and ask why he doesn't even go through a process looking at other coaching talent so he can say that he hired the best guy. If Freeman pans out, Swarbrick is lauded and Freeman gets a longer honeymoon. Also, it's recruiting season and they can't miss time. This reminds me of the Packers hiring Mike Sherman as tight ends coach in 1997...and then Ron Wolf elevates him a year later after Ray Rhodes doesn't pan out. Good luck Marcus

      Lou Holtz had a clause in his contract when he was coaching at Minnesota that if ND ever offered him a HC job he could leave. That's someone who gets ND. You don't need years and years on campus to get it. Marcus Freeman may not work out, but he understands the kind of program Notre Dame has the potential to be

    • @TimHydecoach
      @TimHydecoach 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1st of thank you for watching and joining the discussion Tom. None of us are butt hurt. We are excited about the future and what lies ahead for Marcus Freeman and the staff. Brian Kelly bailed on his own legacy and he made that choice. I have said on many videos that Kelly has done a great job. Go back and watch the "Final Thoughts" we do every Friday during the season. I have said many times that Kelly has done a great job. ND was a mess when he took over in Dec 2009. He went to the national championship game in his 3rd season. Has been to 2 final fours in the last 3 years, which is amazing to think about after the 4-8 meltdown in 2016. I have said the Brian Kelly 2.0 has been great and he has been a great coach for how he change and made ND a fantastic program. But lets get real for a moment and look at Kelly looking to leave after his 3rd season, to the Eagles. He was calling NFL and college teams the last month of the 2016 season. After the final 4 game vs. Clemson he was interviewing with the Bears in Jan 2019. It is now being reported he made contact with USC just a few weeks ago and even contacted Florida about the opening. So to say Kelly is all in at ND is false.
      Go look at his recruiting and they were solid classes but you can ask anyone who writes about ND recruiting over the years and they all will tell you Brian Kelly was not a grinder. Ask Blue and Gold's own Mike Singer if recruits talk more about these assistants or Brian Kelly as a recruiter? As for Marcus Freeman as a recruiter he goes and gets a top 125 defensive end one the highest ranked ends ND has ever signed in Tyson Ford this class. Ford commits too Freeman without ever getting a call from Brian Kelly. Go read the reports on that episode this past spring. Go look at the defensive players Freeman has landed in this class and the next recruiting cycle. Kelly has not signed this many quality defenders in a class. Look at the linebacker haul Freeman is bringing in. Brian Kelly has not been pounding the pavement for those guys.
      As for Kelly he was great for ND for this period, but wasn't Kelly hired because of his offense coaching? Where is the QB development and why hasn't QB recruiting been great under Brian Kelly? Ask yourself why did he leave? It is simple to figure out he did not want to work harder to get over the hump. He saw he could not win it all at Notre Dame which is saying something about him as a closer in his own legacy at Notre Dame. He did not finish the job and for that he left in a bad way and leaving a bad taste to those who follow ND.
      I am no Packer fan but Mike Sherman winning percentage is 2nd only to Lombardi. I think ND Nation will take a 2nd in winning percentage for Freeman in his tenure.
      Thank you for the discussion and we love to talk about ND, and I look forward to going over the hire more with you. Have a great day, Tim

      Tim, you are arguing with a Kelly defender. Everything you said has been reiterated by Bryan Driskell for the past years. There are people who get it and others who just choose not take analyst’s word, like you guys don’t have people within the program who feed you information.

    • @TimHydecoach
      @TimHydecoach 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StoicBehavioR I have no problem with people who defend Kelly. I will defend him in that he coached this program to a point where they are on the cusp of a 3rd final 4 bid in 4 years. I am no Kelly hater at all. He put in 12 years and now there is a new chapter about to be written on Notre Dame football. There will be a book written about the end of the 2016 season to when Kelly left Merriweather's house in Seattle and took the LSU job.
      Also I have never met Driskell nor follow his train of thinking. Thanks for the comment and the discussion. Always fun talking about Notre Dame football.

      We're glad Kelly is gone. That's all that matters. He could easily go 3-9 at LSU, even ULM with Terry Bowden could give the Tigers problems. Only Vandy and S. Carolina are currently behind LSU as far as advancement of SEC programs. Skip Holtz is a better in-state coach than Kelly, the smaller schools like the Ragin' Cajuns will drain talent away. LSU has made a costly error.
