I honestly don’t care what happens to them. If my children want to sell them or give them away. Id prefer for them to go to a car meet & give them away to kids.
What a beautiful & informative post... something that nobody wants to think about but eventually, it will happen to every collector, including myself. Take care brother and thank you very much for such a brutally honest video.
Appreciate the words
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for the thoughtful video.
We got caught up and sometimes forget this life is temporary.
My Mrs said that I need to list what I have that is of value among my die-cast and other toys collection.
Having so many small items of value is tricky and the last thing I want is for someone to take the lot for pittance.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I’m trying to thin the herd now. Told my wife the other day I don’t want to leave her with all the toys. Her mom was an avid collector of all manner of things. She passed 2 years ago and we still going through “the Collection”!
this is been on my mind a lot lately also, ive recently been diagnosed with brain cancer at 29. im also a local to the area, i personally new chris walker he lived down the street from me. that shocked me, and also sc diecast daughter has recently been diagnosed with cancer which must be hard for them to keep the hobby going. i want to hold onto my collection for my daughter for the future but right now i believe we could all benefit from my collection atm.
😢 I am sorry to hear. Don’t give up hope and thoughts/prayers to you. I didn’t know that about SC Diecast, prayers to them as well 🙏
The day i die give all my cars to random kids idgaf i payed for them i dont even plan on getting money back plus i intend to open everything but yea a few smiles from kids gon be enough ill be out like a light
I've thought about what will happen to my collection, asked family members, can't find anybody who wants them! 🤷♂️
Yea not anything to stress about, I’m sure you’ll come up with something
I’ll probably instruct my loved ones to bury me with my collection 😂
Sorry to hear about your friend man, if i were to pass, id like my family to just donate everything. Haul it to a childrens hospital or post a "come by for free cars"... i purge and donate or sell off too. Its healthy to do
That’s a great plan! Appreciate the words 🤜🤛
what i do is that usually, on Christmas, i donate some of my HW cars to the kids in needs, in this sense i dont lose anything, since i just donate them to the kids that may be will enjoy more than me
I'm sorry to hear that we lost another family collector in this hobby my condolences goes out to his family but with all do respect how did he died? He sound so young
I told my wife to sell my hot wheels at market value so she can get the most out of them all, and she responded “no I’m opening them all up and hanging them on the wall in the garage as memory” some of us are blessed with great family
Everything material in our life is to make it bare able nothing is coming with us when we pass so enjoy what makes you happy with no regrets and find solace that your life's possessions will help other people either financially or bring them joy!
good video man. I told my lady not to sell for a while, I know it's gonna happen but I said just enjoy them for a while.its all gonna be hers as she was there for 90% of the collection process. glad we are having this convo, me and my lady had this convo. I told her dont sell it off the rip. enjoy the cars and memories. it's always good to talk to your love ones about your collection. it's a sad convo but you Gotta have it. my lady knows to not sell it right when I pass but to enjoy it or give it to our son/daughter, or give it to a collector who's really gonna love the cars and not sell them. good video once again man. glad we are talking about it,
Ive always said that i am simply the current caretaker of my vintage collection. When its my time, i hope ill be able to pick and choose what people receive the most prized pieces of my collection based on who will appreciate them most. I want them to live on after me as i see them as a little slice of history.
3 years ago when I first started collecting I started it with the intentions of leaving it all to my kids to sell and do whatever they want with. I wasn't in it for the love but just as something I could leave behind. But now I'm fully addicted to the hobby lol. I'm going to enjoy it while I have it and not worry about anything after I'm gone. Diecast isn't the only thing I collect or have collected throughout my life so they're going to have all kinds of stuff to go through and sell or keep whatever. I'll definitely have a Will but I'm leaving behind tons of stuff. .
Sorry about your loss. I’ve recently pondered this question. I need to scale down my 30 years of collecting because I am getting older. I have diecast, legos, transformers and Funko pops, everything sealed. I’m not on only social media besides here on TH-cam. But it might be something I need to do to connect with other groups to begin selling part of my collection.
Appreciate the words, yes there are tons of good facebook groups to connect and buy/sell/trade with
man, sorry to hear about your friend. I have a will set up for all my collectibles.
That’s awesome
It takes a ridiculously long time to sell a ton of cars...especially if they are carded. They need to arrive safe if sold on the Internet to ensure arriving in the condition they were sent out. That means having strong boxes and soft pkg material.
Sorry for your loss and best wishes. Those cars are sweet!
I sorta get the idea for what I would do with my stuff. I might donate them when I am older.
Even if there is a " plan" after we depart someone (family/ friend) has to take time to complete it. Ebay, toy shows, garage sales all require them to use their time. Its a sad situation to consider.😢
Instead of wasting money on toys go on camping trips , vacation and whatever else that you get to spend time with family , but also keep in mind you may live a long time so youll be able to enjoy your collection for years. Some ppl are just unfortunate to live to their 80s and beyond.
Yes. Be responsible regarding this reality my fellow collectors.
& May you all live a life full of Peace, Love & Joy. May you all be Strong, Healthy & Successful. To have a life well lived that says thank you. 🙌💯
Sorry for your loss bro. It’s the truth, hard to realize all the fun of the hunt can be very scary for our love ones.
I purge my collection once a year. Try my damndest not to have more than I can display. To a degree at least. I keep a little excess trade bait or whatever but to have a storage unit full of dozens and dozens of totes is asinine imo. Your collection should get nicer and nicer through the years not bigger and bigger. Thankfully as far as my collection goes I was blessed with a Son who collects and a Daughter who dabbles. Anything he or his Sister doesn’t want he’ll at least know whats valuable, with an idea of what that value is. Know what to sell individually and what to off load in bulk.
I hope my kid keeps collecting would probably leave it to him that’s why now that his little I have teach him to collect and to cherish it and from there he decides what to do with it because that’s way I enjoy it now but I will trim it to only keeping the most expensive and the ones I really like
Good thoughts and plan. Thanks for sharing
Sorry for your loss, good friends are hard to come by. I'm 68, I have about 1200 cars, most loose. I also have some HW Memorabilia along with other things I collect. I've often wondered how all these things would be 'dispersed'.
My wife's Snoopy collection is 10 times all my collections combined, so there's that too.
My thoughts are to contact people that buy whole collections or be willing to set up a booth at a toy fair or flea market. All we can hope for is some Good Luck and have a good strategy in the end.
Very cool castings diecash cars
It gets donated to kids to finally get played with or straight to the trash... or.... a cheap yard sale! 😅😅
Ha please don’t let them go to the trash
Sympathies for your loss, my brother in diecast. Look to a local auction house to bear the selling burden if you're the family disposing of a large collection. They'll take their cut, the process is pretty simple, much more than setting up an eBay from scratch or other online platform. If you as a collector can set up arrangements with a trusted friend to deal with liquidating a collection fairly for your survivor's benefit, that's another option. Nobody _wants_ to think too hard about this topic, but a little forethought and planning pays off for those still on the earth dealing with what could be a confusing and intimidating process
Appreciate the thoughts brother
So true, I have over 4000 cars, most carded, and about 1000 displayed in my man cave on the walls. I love my room, I am in it every day. My kids say I am crazy
This is a deep topic, it goes way deeper then Hotwheels.
Ive thought about this with all my stuff, im a collector of more then diecast, and some of its actual scale vehicles 😅.
I actually told my ladie recently, if im ever in the hospital on my death bed to bring down all the diecast so we can open all of them.
On another note, i have a weird way of parting with meaningful items.
It may sound strange to some people, but i burn it.
If its its something i really care about and just dont think someone else would cherish it, i burn it.
Its a weird spiritual thing for me, i feel its actually very respectful to send it off with some old positive thoughts and a flame.
This all said i plan to try and sell alot of my general stuff at some point in life (im not very old what so ever).
Ive also told my family and it'll be written in my will to keep what they want, sell what they want, and burn the rest with some positive thoughts for me.
I can respect that. Inspiring 👍
Please don't burn things. Cancer-causing poisons get released into the air. There are other problems too, depending on what you burn. Please donate your things to a good cause or a thrift store. :)
I think it would be selfish to hope that what is important to us will be important to our kids. I give my kids the freedom to toss my Hot Wheels in the trash if they don't feel like dealing with the total pain in the a*% of getting rid of them according to their value.
Honestly when I die I might make my little brother keep my collection I don't care what happens
Already have stuff listed and what to do with it. I have cars from when I was a 5 and 6 yrs old. Those cars are 50+ yrs old. Good video. Unfortunately it’s reality. Thank you.
Man with a plan, appreciate it ✊
@@DieCashCars Thanks. But I know my kids don’t want it. So have to do something with it. I really enjoy your videos. Very informative!
I’d wanna bury the hot wheels with me if that’s allowed
I’ve thought about this ever since my hobby got out of control. I’ve read many comments from old collectors who basically admit, they lost a fortune by trying to unload their collection. It’s very time consuming to sell off a collection one piece at a time. Honestly, working overtime at your regular job is far more profitable than the time and effort in hunting, gas money and headaches dealing with strangers.
My kids should Sell them & use it for them selfs or my wife.
My son will have my collection. He can do as he wishes with them. If he wants to open them all then he can. Theyre just toys
im a collector of a quite few things. im still living at home (late 20s) and have some health complications.... this thought really messes me up lol. cant imagine my fam trying to deal with the heap of "garbage" that will be inevitably await them. :/
If u customized and you die it would be worth tons because there won’t be another guy with ur unique style of customization
I plan on selling my collection slowly when I retire and reinvesting into making my basement a legit third floor
i have a guy that knows my collection and is instructed to give my wife fair market value when she is ready to part with my things. my really rare stuff is marked so it will be easy for her not to get taken to the cleaners. i see them as one of my nest eggs to help her financially after i'm gone.
something ive always thought of myself tbh
Sorry to hear about your OG🙏🏽
🙏
Those stay on earth when we die not sure it would matter what happens it's not like the person who gets them will become a millionaire, the people buying them with get a good price because they won't sell anywhere at what we think they gonna get when we alive they probably get half if they lucky
Yea i think of this alot like 2000 cars for family to go thru 😢would be sad
Buying two coffins and a 12 foot hole, mines coming with me l😂
🤣 great idea
I think my wife will probley sale them
RIP brother!!!!
Thx 🙏
This is why i dont have a valuable collection. Mines are mostly fantasies and regular mainlines. I save my money that i would spent on premiums setting up college funds. I just watch the videos on premiums but never had a great interest in them.
I hope to have enough money that my family won’t have to sell it off but ain’t nobody want all these cars lol
It's true you can't take your collection with you. Honestly, it's up to my family. I'm not married or have Kids, I'm only 21. But ultimately believing in God and being saved is more important than Hot Wheels. Saving your soul is the way to heaven. By Accepting jesus as your lord and Savior. God bless 🙏🙏
Amen! Yeah. So true!
Well.. technically we could take all or alot of our collection's with us😅
Here me out.. if you get someone to open them all and after we're placed in our coffins, they could bury us in our Hotwheels inside the coffin😄
This is ofcourse if we get a coffin, because technically this can be done. They've litterly buried people in cars and on motorcycles so its definitely"legal".
I'm ofcourse halfway joking here😄
However I agree with the original poster. Amen
Amen 🙏 Thank you Jesus! John 3:16❤
Amen brother
Bro there was literally zero liberty walk in this video, chill out on the hashtags
Don't care!
Open them up you can't take them with you these toy cars toy cars are worthless
