You must be getting other work offers because this is the best advertising anyone could want. You can tell this is many years of experience we are watching. Great show!
Have been watching from the start and it is so nice to see a man that knows what he is doing. Is it going to be a show car NO but it will be one of the best looking Mustangs around and I would be proud to own this car. You are a true artist my friend.
First off sorry about the paint issues but I love watching your videos, brings back good memories of when I restored a 1955 beetle. I did it in a garage just like you are doing and it came out damn nice and I didn’t have to use a fancy spray booth 👍
Top class video i understand your frustration hours of extra work in paint spraying due to lack of coverage and more expenses you are a great teacher Beautiful colour you have taken no shortcuts thanks for sharing
I could had sprayed the car with a white sealer and it would had helped but if these companies would stop "watering" down there mixes they would go a lot further. It should be a nice car soon
Looking good, Russ! I agree with your going over the car and fixing what may not matter to others. YOU will know the pinholes are there and with the quality of your work that matters.
Another excellent video Russ, paint I feel your pain a few years ago when we painted the truck two gallons of paint same color one different one much but enough to make a difference good thing you can only see one side at a time lol car looks great, that red interior and red stripes will make that car pop. Well God bless and peace out
It happens ideally I like everything to be from the same batch but that doesn't always happen. I think the red will lighten the color up some with the contrast
This car will show room quality, better than driver quality. I hope there is a plan for the mechanical part of the car. I like the hood ,the cowl on the hood is low he won’t have to look around it for a blind spot. Nice Car Russ
It looks superb! What a long wait but a satisfying result. That hood scoop does look like it was always there. This video series has been hugely helpful to me as a first time car restorer. I just layed down some epoxy primer on a few parts of my '28 Pontiac and it took a lot longer than expected because of all the prep work I am now aware of thanks to your videos. Regarding the mustang, I'm guessing you didn't paint the strip before the clear coat because you would have had to let the paint dry fully before taping it up and that would result in the clear coat not bonding to the white paint as well as it should, unless you sanded the white first. Anyways, great job, as usual. Daisy done her quality control real good!
Awesome! Good luck on your '28 , and yes I only put one tack and one coat of clear so I could lay the stripes and then reclear with 3-4 coats so it will have no lines
While I'm personally not a fan of white cars, I think you've done a great job and the Mustang already looks very nice. Like others said, it's been a struggle but the results speak for themselves. 👍
Excellent video. My 1972 Lincoln Mark IV is the same color. Great choice with the red interior. My Lincoln has the red interior with a black vinyl top. Car is looking awesome great job. I wish I had your patience. The paint coverage added a lot of extra time and labor to the job but you made it work and the result is better than any factory paint.
Thanks, it was definitely about 10x longer then it should have been! There wasn't many directions he could had went with his red and white interior this combo should be 10x better then before. Be your Lincoln is a looker Love those
Real sorry the paint turned out to be crap but the job still turned out well Russ. Just recoat what you have to and be done with it. She's a million times what she was a few months ago. Bravo!
I just click "like" when the video starts rolling. Gonna do it anyway, so why wait? The matte black on the aprons, etc is spot-on. Wimbledon White's beautiful. This car looks so good. Your comments about coverage with that paint - PBG just used that same paint on a car and had the same problems with coverage, he didn't love it either. That was a metallic turquoise. Heavy on the metallic but thin on the color solids.
@HotRodGuyGarage It's a daily driver now gonna go thru engine and trans this winter, she's got miles on her and a leak out of the oil pan, gotta pull it to fix it so it's getting rings and bearings as well as a trans kit.
Wow sure was great seeing color going on the car. Been a long trip to get here but I sure don't need to tell you that. Looking good; looking forward to seeing this thing put together again! Thx!!
Sounds like you had barely enough of the paint to finish the car. Fortunately you did. Yeah, now you can leave a review about the manufacturer to say the coverage was not the best, since other reviewers about this issue didn't. But it turned out alright and the car looks good. I'll be looking out for your next video. 😎🙂👍
It's been quite a battle to get this far, you must feel very satisfied to get excellent results after all of the challenges! I've always tended toward the more higher end paint and I'm glad I did after seeing the coverage issues you faced
WooHoo! I can tell the concern in your voice how nerve wracking this is after all the body work and prep. I think my hand would be shaking holding the paint gun.
Awesome work Russ. ❤.. question for myself as someone who doesn't know it all, is there a reason a person wouldn't put the red stripes on first after the base before clearing the whole car? Just curious for myself. Keep up the amazing content 👍🏼
I painted a 65 Galaxie white years ago and i swore i would never paint a car white again and i havent...would it help to tint the primer with the base color
You must be getting other work offers because this is the best advertising anyone could want. You can tell this is many years of experience we are watching. Great show!
Thanks Paul
Magnificent job Russ ! ❤
Thank you
Everything about this car has been a struggle, the paint is no exception. Awesome job as always, enjoyed the video!
Absolutely, hopefully that mountain peak is in sight
Stripes under the clear? That's a great idea. Car looks great, so exciting.
Absolutely no lines make for a better look
Fresh paint and a happy cat 😎
Absolutely!
Nice job man! She's lookin good and straight! 👍
It's pretty decent nothing some wet sand blocking and buffing won't take care of
Have been watching from the start and it is so nice to see a man that knows what he is doing. Is it going to be a show car NO but it will be one of the best looking Mustangs around and I would be proud to own this car. You are a true artist my friend.
Thanks for coming along on the journey we are almost at the top of the mountain. It should be a nice car he can be proud of
First off sorry about the paint issues but I love watching your videos, brings back good memories of when I restored a 1955 beetle. I did it in a garage just like you are doing and it came out damn nice and I didn’t have to use a fancy spray booth 👍
It happens, it seems like good quality just doesn't have enough solids for the pigments
Thank You! I've been hating tack cloths because I never knew the right way to use them.
They can be a horrible thing
Looking good my friend
Thank you! Cheers!

I'm sure the owner is like us always looking forward to the next video. Car looks really nice.
Absolutely he is excited I believe

Looking fantastic.

Definitely going to go through the motor and make sure it's up to snuff
Excellent work Russ. Looks really nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks amazing!
Thanks
Awesome Russ human being, awesome kitty cat Daisy, and awesome loving workmanship on that 65 Mustang. Love it all !

Sure looking straight and slick and very great
It's definitely way better then it deserved to be 😆 that said should make a nice car for him
Brings back me if my 66 I had back in 1982 I had painted Wimbelton, White with blue stripes look great
Awesome 😎 I'm going to be doing this one with red stripes to put a little different spin on things
While I'm personally not a fan of white cars, I think you've done a great job and the Mustang already looks very nice.
Like others said, it's been a struggle but the results speak for themselves. 👍
Right on! It's starting to come around
Fun stuff every step of the way.
Absolutely it wouldn't be the same car if it went easy
Looking real good 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks again for sharing this video with us. It’s going to look great the stripes will set it off nicely.
Thanks for watching, The stripes should tie everything together

Color looks good with the white paint
Thanks Moses
@@HotRodGuyGarage welcome >t looking like it rolled out of the factory but better.
Real sorry the paint turned out to be crap but the job still turned out well Russ. Just recoat what you have to and be done with it. She's a million times what she was a few months ago. Bravo!
It happens I'm starting to see these companies "water" down there products but the prices are not following the quality
Generally not a fan of white, but looking good! Hood scoop looks great.
Hopefully the stripes will bring it up another level
The bonnet scoop looks amazing. It all looks brilliant now.
I can feel your frustration, but the end result looks great! I'm really enjoying this build!
That light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. It won't be long now. Awesome work you have doing.
Beautiful.

Thanks Russ,
I've learned so many little tricks from watching this series. Car looks fantastic from the way it looked from it's fiirst day. Great job.
Great to hear!, and thanks for the visit there is way more to come
Smooth.Wish I had the budget for paint on my 65 Dart hardtop GT.Gotta get the mechanicals buttoned up first.
Just keep plugging along it takes time and at least you will be able to drive it!
@HotRodGuyGarage It's a daily driver now gonna go thru engine and trans this winter, she's got miles on her and a leak out of the oil pan, gotta pull it to fix it so it's getting rings and bearings as well as a trans kit.
Awesome 😎
Wow!!! Great job, looks fantastic! I would not have a problem with you doing one of my cars sometime, can't wait to see it completed!!
Wow sure was great seeing color going on the car. Been a long trip to get here but I sure don't need to tell you that. Looking good; looking forward to seeing this thing put together again! Thx!!

Absolutely zero left but everything is covered now to put it together and lay some stripes
The Climax.
So close
The old saying, ya get what ya pay for
Bad thing is nothing is cheap anymore
Probably all balance white hard to paint on a good day looks great
It's been quite a battle to get this far, you must feel very satisfied to get excellent results after all of the challenges! I've always tended toward the more higher end paint and I'm glad I did after seeing the coverage issues you faced
wont be long now
Just a little while long and it will be in its final form
Bet you are glad to be getting to the finish line on this car.
wow its a totally different car now, some assembly required.
WooHoo! I can tell the concern in your voice how nerve wracking this is after all the body work and prep. I think my hand would be shaking holding the paint gun.
Are you planning on putting a transportation brace on the 65 mustang? I have been hearing good things about them.
I will be adding some braces later on
I made it. Better late than never.
Just wondering what paint would you recommend. Thanks
This car should be Raven Black because it's blocked out so straight. White is for cars that aren't because it's visually very forgiving.
Awesome work Russ. ❤.. question for myself as someone who doesn't know it all, is there a reason a person wouldn't put the red stripes on first after the base before clearing the whole car? Just curious for myself. Keep up the amazing content 👍🏼
Prevents delamination issues , when base coat fully cures (say more then 8 hours) the clear will not bond to it as well and could cause issues
@@HotRodGuyGarage I understand now, thanks for explaining.
Did you consider installing front torque boxes?
Yes, but I will be installing subframe connectors also
I painted a 65 Galaxie white years ago and i swore i would never paint a car white again and i havent...would it help to tint the primer with the base color
A white sealer would have helped but a good mix should cover in 1-3 coats
