    Thanks so much my 3" screws in top hinge did the trick. An old carpenter once told me you can also loosen the lower hinge on the jamb side & insert small strip of a business card shimming it away from jamb moving the top toward the jamb. Thanks again.

    Man didn't think of a longer screw. I used a 2 1/2 inch screw and was able to fix an interior door that was driving me nuts. Can't believe your installer used those wimpy screws on such a heavy door.

    Thanks!! Thought I'd have up shave down the door to create new holes.
    The loose side is on the door side, not the walk side. Do i use the long screw on the door side?

    If I’m not wrong, I think your hinge pin should be coming from the top down not from the bottom up. Even though the pin is held by friction and pressure, there may be a slim chance it could slide down and out the hinge? Idk. Just doesn’t look right to me. Thanks for the tips!

    • @DIYDanCars
      @DIYDanCars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks and no problem! I think the hinge pin locations vary by manufacture as the door came preassembled that way. I have seen hinge pins installed both ways.

      @@DIYDanCars the hinge pin is always supposed to be inserted from the top. Possibly someone put the hinge on the door incorrectly at the factory but the pin is always put in from the top for exactly the reason suggested by 50MT

    Tried this on an interior door and the hinge is too stubborn to move using this method no matter how much force I put in the hammer, and I don't want to break anything or cause the wood to split with too much pressure. Any other ideas? did the screw trick first and that didn't work either.

    • @ericks4280
      @ericks4280 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can drill a pilot hole if you want, but a drill will screw in a 3" screw into wood easily most the time
