    May I also underline that Dogal is the string supplier for Dingwall u.u the brand turn to Dogal to create their sets for fanned frets basses

    I play a 34 inch, 32 inch and 30 inch headless in the future . All 5 string. I also have a 28 3/4 micro 4 string. They all sound great. I play the 32 the most as both the body and neck are shaped to my body and it’s 7lbs. The headless 30 should come in under that.

    I always recommend not getting into heavy strings as they have ruined a steinberger spirit bass. I had two and now only one but the stock string size is usually the best for the strength of the neck and the size of the slots in the nut.

    If the strings have such a good tension for such a short bass, imagine how easy would be to do it for a 30' short scale bass. I wanted to buy a short scale one however I i can't get used to the flabby tension of the strings. I see a bright future :)
    Any thoughts my fellow bass players ?

      I agree! Most short scales *can* sound better, however. I have Labella flats on my mustang and it feels great!

    Thoughts on Tiny Boy vs Mayones Cali If I wanted a travel bass? How about a “vs” video?

    • @basstheworldofficial
      @basstheworldofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the Cali costs 3 times as much as is tuned an octave higher

      I have the Cali bass it’s and it’s unbelievably beautiful made but I would hesitate to call it a bass. I wanted it for a travel base however it’s more of a novelty item and does not feel like a bass at all. Good for fancy little melodic solos

    You forget the metal wound "spagetti" strings for ubass. Those feel still rather normal, but are anything but normal in the side.

    back where i was born we say ,, I'm not so rich to buy cheap things" so pay some higher price for quality welcome here :) .. love the sound and bases. I use Galli strings also made in Italy not the cheapest either for my 34 inch basses ,and i would never look back to more mainstream brands.no matter how cheap or fancy they look :)

    Are the strings steel core or nylon core like many other micro basses?

    • @basstheworldofficial
      @basstheworldofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      steel (or whatever they use, definitely not nylon)

    • @RockerProf
      @RockerProf ปีที่แล้ว

      If they were not steel, or some other metal, through and through, they would not work with a passive pickup. They are currently the only flatwound strings that would work on my new, Kala solid-body California U bass. Kala says they will soon have their own flats for their 23.5 scale, passive pickup bass. These Kalas will most likely work for the similar Tiny Boy.

    These strings way above my budgets.
    Can a regular type bass strings be used on TinyBoy? Could one just cut it to the required length and string it just like a standard length bass?

    • @basstheworldofficial
      @basstheworldofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nope, the thick parts of the strings won't fit with the tuners

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think discussion over string price doesn't make a sense. I guess those guys invested many time and efforts to develop strings for tiny boy basses. And our role as consumers is to be fullfiled. BTW, I play double bass and regular scale bass guitar but I would never thing it is even possible to sound like bass on violin scale instrument. All that body and neck material discussions beyond are put upside down now. And old truth reveals, you want to sound great? Buy new strings. Well it reminds me, that it's time to replace my double bass strings again...damn it.

      I used 4 lower strings from a set of Slinky’s on a Ukulele as a travel bass. It sounded way better than the stretchy rubber strings. In fact, the strings cost more than the Ukulele.

    • @ken46120
      @ken46120 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to add that the Slinky’s were from a 6 string guitar set.

    If the scale is shorter, but the gauge is the same, and you claim the tension is the same, then they simply have to be denser, right? Heavier metal than normal. Otherwise how can you hit the same notes as a normal bass? You only have tension, mass, and scale length to worth with. And scale is shorter, so either tension has to go down, or mass has to go up for the same notes.

    • @basstheworldofficial
      @basstheworldofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's the brilliance of the strings, they don't follow this logic. String manufacturing is obviously more complex as we mortals can wrap our heads around

      People stopped buying stuff that they ‘needed’ years ago. At least in the western world. It’s all about toys for (normal size) boys.
