In this video, we share why you must visit this ancient village in Japan! We're talking about Shirakawa-go, a fairy-tale village of traditional thatched-roof houses in the Gifu Prefecture in Japan. The way that the villagers here in this Japanese countryside lives together and helps each other is a heart-warming reminder of how important it is to have a community. We also visit a neighbouring city called Takayama which has a bustling morning market and has one of the most well-preserved old towns in Japan.

When it comes to visiting Japan, many people only go to places like Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. But the real charm of Japan lies in the countryside. The wonderful charm of rural Japan, as eloquently described by the famous British traveler Isabella Lucy Bird in her book "Unbeaten Tracks in Japan" 140 years ago, is still intact today.

And thats Good !!!! Let em go all to the same Places , then we have peace from alll the sitty Tourists.
You wanna be soreoundet by Tourists on a beautiful place ???? Anyway the best Spots of Japan are Hidden and without Tourists and i hope it stays like this forever ! I made 14 Japangripps in 30 Years and trust me: the top 30 you find online are unimportand or with the Tourists they got anyway destroyd ! Last time i was on a place full of tourists, on a specific point all turned around and then you walk 30 min alone true Houses - at the end came a Mountain and 12 Temples - one was more beautiful then the other - ZERO Tourists and few over the hole city - japanese Gardes with only Japanes People - and why ? Because all the Mainstream Idiots only follow Blocks of noobs who have no idea or knowledge :)
They think if they was one time there - they got knowledge - lol !
As long as all the Idiots only listen to Socialmedia Informations its easy for the real willing People to get a Peacefull godlike Japatripp : just cheack it out what they like and then you go to all the other Places. Speake to Japanease People or better lern the Language !!

How cute.....You two were fascinated in the sewerage water at Shirakawa-go. How clean it is.😅 This is because Japan are very serious in looking after environment of how to dispose their rubbish and waste including sewerage systems where every household must treats the sewerage waste through sophisticated system before letting it out. In many towns they even have koi fish swimming in the gutters and rain water drains around towns likes in Gifu prefecture.❤❤❤ i love it.

Do you have a recommendation of the best route? Also we wanted to try our hand at vlogging as well, do you have a recommendation on the equipment we need to start off as beginners? iphone and a gimble (which video editing do you use?), thanks for your advice! You guys look so relaxed, love watching. ◡̈

    • @FloraandNote
      @FloraandNote  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That sounds like a lovely sister trip! I think Nagoya - Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa is a good route to take. You can stop in Shirakawago for 2-3 hours (you can store your bag at the bus station) and continue your journey too so you don't need to go back to Takayama before going to Kanazawa. It really depends on where you are going next ...we were going to Osaka next so we decided not to go to Kanazawa and return to Nagoya. As for vlogging, if you have a decent iPhone then go for it! The quality is good and it's convenient. If you are more serious about vlogging then maybe check out the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. We use Premiere Pro for editing but it's expensive .. you can try iMovie or CapCut.

@cosmicnhilist it’s probably more quiet in the morning than afternoon. It also depends on how you’re going .. make sure to check the bus schedule. If you’re driving then you can try to avoid the bus arrival times too.

Yes, it might be. I think 3-4 days will be perfect and you can even go to the hot spring area near Takayama.

we drove here from nagoya and back. I never saw even one cow out in a field. I think they're all barn raised. Perhaps that fat marbeling is from no exercise. Not a bad life for a cow, drinking beer and enjoying their own barns

The Chinese character for “Yui” is 結. So, you can understand what it means since you’re a Chinese Canadian, I think.
    I love this video.

@@FloraandNote In Shirakawago Village homepage they wrote their motto is 結・合力 (Yui / Kouryaku). As you know 結 is to connect each other and 合力 is to combine forces.
I feel a bit strange that the pronunciation of 合力 is Kouryaku in the homepage because the general pronunciation of 合力 is Gouriki in Japanese. So, 合力 in Shirakawago might include another nuance.
Note: Kouryaku is generally 攻略 in Japanese, which means Attack or Capture in English.

Was there twice but never in Winter. I just was ariving Japan and will Visit it againe in 6 Days :) I will make a Night Visit - this is very hard because only a smal number of Busses are alowed to go in and you need to reservate it on a Japanese Page and its sold out in 10 min lol !! (99% japanese People only ).
They need to Protect the People from the Masstourists and with posts like yours it will not become better. I was in Japan long time before all the Touristmadness was starting in this country ( 1995 was my first Tripp to Japan ) and i saw all the stuff People call the top ten without Tourists and with all that People its no more top ten !!
Its not funny to walk in a Japanese Garden and you hear from all sides English. French, German or eaven load chinese Language - this destroys any feeling of the great japanese Culture.
Be the first in front the Garden when they open ( while all the noobs eat there Breakfeast in there Hotels ! ) Thats the only way to visite overrun Tourist-Spots !
I travel mostly only to places without Tourists becaue Japan got so many great Hidden Places and they are mostly more becautiful then the stuff the Mainstreamtourists call top !
And i hope they stay hidden !!
Eaven in Kyoto you will find many such places but without japanese language its not easy and thats good !
I work myself in the Touristic in a City same famouse then Kyoto for its History and i know how importand it is for People of such Citys to have hidden Places. Its not funny drive to work in a full traine and no way to sitdown because all places are full of Tourists who do not care about anything then themself.
And espessial in Japan the People are so different - no selfish People and always they take care bout others - exectly the different then the most. Nothing i hate more after a Japantripp, then drive with a Buss or Train in my Country - it shows me up how selfish and ignorant people are in the most Countrys !!!!
In Japan its not alowed to use Mobilephones on Trains or Busses and there are no Shilds for it because anyone knows and noone will break that rule - only Tourists do because they show no intresst - and eaven with Shilds they would do it because of no respect - like they do also in there countrys! All i want to say is : respect other cultures if you travel there - inform yoursef how to do and dont get your informations from stupid Blocks or useless Top-Ten lists by Persons who was themself only one time in there Life in that Countrys - they know nothing !
And if you make such posts, inform the Visitors also bout things they better not do if they travel there !
No bad meaning at all but someone had to say it and i wish you all much fun on your Tripps !
