So magical staying there
How much does it cost staying in the houses? And where to buy ticket for to see the lights?
It cost us ¥16,000 per person to stay one night. It will vary a bit depending on the lodge you stay at.
To see the lights at the top of the hill or in general?
@@didibryan can you share how you got tickets for the desk/hill? thank you.
The tickets for the observation deck came with our overnight stay. We booked that through the reservation site on the main website when it opened up.
@@didibryan thank you!
Planning to go there by February 1st week. will be a snowfall during that month? I hope to get an answer from yoi.
Yes there will be snow during Feb, but this year has not been great in terms of the volume of snow overall in Japan.
Were you there in December? Do they have so much snow in Dec usually?
We went in late Jan last year. 2023 was a bit warmer than usual, but there was snow towards the end of December.
thanks for your reply @@didibryan ! Love your contents!
so the light event is only for one day? or is it still going.. im planing to go there end of January
It happens 6 times per year. For 2024, the dates are:
January 14, 2024 (Sunday)
January 21, 2024 (Sunday)
January 28, 2024 (Sunday)
February 4, 2024 (Sunday)
February 12, 2024 (Monday, national holiday)
February 18, 2024 (Sunday)
thank you so much thats really helpful any recommendation on how to plan this trip
because you guys started from the train station i might start from Tokyo and also planing to go to hakuba happo-one resort @@didibryan
If you take the shinkansen from Nagano station, it will also go to either Toyama or Kanazawa
@@didibryan thank you we will be there on the 28th
Hope you have a great time!
when is this taken?
Earlier this year during the last light up event!
Is it easy to from Osaka ?
Osaka is actually closer than Tokyo! The best is probably still to take the train to Kanazawa station and then from there drive or take a bus.
Going there on this 18 February, but still confused with the system 😹.
We bought a hotel in takayama. The question is, can we still see the light up event (at night)?.
Do you have a parking spot reserved or a bus tour reserved?
@@didibryan yes we have
Then you should be able to see the light up event, but you might not be able to go up to the observation deck unless you have a separate ticket for that as well.
@@didibryan thank you 🙏
@@dunialordorenHi. where do you get an early reservation ticket for the observation deck? thanks in advance.
It's beautiful, but it must be hard to live there.
It's isolated and looks pretty cold.
It's not actually as isolated as it looks as just outside the village is another small and larger town.
What are those bell-shaped things @1:45?
Those are actually rope from the shinto shrine called shimenawa.
@@didibryan I read that those ropes are used to separate divine space from the outside world, but could not find an explanation for the shape. Do you know?
Apologies we're not sure either 😅
@@didibryan I thought Bryan was a shinto priest and knew everything about shrines 😀
How to book
There
Typically need to book in advance via the shirakawago's official website: shirakawa-go.gr.jp/en/events/93/
From your video, the village light up view was not as colourful, striking and magical as those pictures on Google search. I'm also going to Shirakawa-go this Apr.
Yeah... Our camera is probably not the best in low light, but some of those photos could have been touched up. It still doesn't take away seeing it with your own eyes 😁
