These videos have been really validating and given me confidence in trusting my keywords. As a result, they have helped me combine the cards-which has been a big challenge. I found Key+Clover means "flash of insight" or "glimpsing the answer in your minds eye," to me. I had a quick intuitive flash the other day at work that led me to see something that my conscious mind had not seen (weird experience as it came out of the blue). I immediately saw Key (answer, holding the key) and Clover (brief, lucky window of opportunity). So, now this combo also represents 'epiphany' for me as well.
I'm so glad that you're becoming confident and trusting your keywords, Carla! It helps when you find validation in your daily experiences; I know that really helped (and still helps) me. I also like that your keywords are relative to you and your life. Fantastic! :-)
Thanks once again. In a reading I remarked that sometimes, the 'House' card stands also for 'department', 'agence', 'branch office' of a bigger company such as a multination or large corporation usually represented by the Tower card. And for 'Tree' I've been also connecting with 'past life' situations depending on the cards.
I’m so glad I found your series! Thanks for doing this. Also, I really appreciate your mentioning the playing card inserts. I’m hoping you talk about them more throughout the series! 💕🙏🏼💐
Thank you so much! I have learnt from your Kipper series videos, this lenormand series helps me review and expand idea about each cards. I will follow you to learn palying cards! Blessing for you everyday~
Thank you, James, for explaining the cards so well. You show "how and why" as well as "what." This will be much easier to remember and apply than just a list of meanings to be memorized without any reason. Also, that Lilac Dondorf is exquisite! I've got to get one.
You are the GOAT you are so humble. But you are great. One of my TH-cam mentors I will say. Thanks for the video mentoring. I have learned so much from you. Omg I realize this is my back up account I’m on 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Im watching right now! I just had a breakthrough. One of the reasons I have struggled with combining card meanings to tell a story is because I have been thinking of the meanings in a flat, 2D way and trying to make these keywords fit my question. Like creating a character for a story or a character who tells a story, it is necessary to make them as fleshed out as possible so that we know what the character/card is doing or telling us in the story/ reading, in the context of the question. Now I get it and I have an 💡 of an exercise that im going to implement in order to get to know them in a more intuitive/ personal way. I'm a bit cerebral and structured which has been an impediment in learning Lenormand *Clouds is being explained right now lol
Thanks for watching the video, Carla! I'm super excited to hear about the breakthrough, and I like that you had it while watching the part about Clouds (perhaps the light side of Clouds?) :-) I like the sound of your exercise, and I know you'll benefit from it, because the idea came from your own inner wisdom. Would love hearing what you discover at some point!
I have stumbled upon your channel and i love this video. I am looking forward to watching the whole set! Yesterday i drew 3 cards for today and i think you might have appeared. Mice+man+moon. I have a mild cold which is keeping me at home hence mice. But your video this morning has sparked my work on lenormand learning! 🤗👍
James. THKU for sharing your process. as a teacher myself, i would like to share a few observasions. each symbol is related to the playing card numerology n color. their meanings gives a positive/negative connotation. i feel the symbol cannot be separated from playing card meaning as Madam La Normand combined these symbols to relate to context of questions eg: RIDER is 9 hearts which gives its over all positive contexts of love benefit and fulfillment. always good news never a message of forboding CLOVER i am an herbalist. unfortunately many people think many medicinal herbs are ''weeds'' and considered useless such as wild dandilions clover n dock. since the playing card on clover is 6 diamonds the clover is represented as a beneficial context.[ all these herbs are the most effective kidney cleanser and blood purifier used in the spring n summer time.] so for me clover always is positive in its meaning. SHIP symbol combined with 9 spades tells me moving away from danger, moving into new positive time or power being brought to the next card in line. for me when i see a court card, i notice the suit for its lightness/red or heavyness/black. K n Q may also be related to a loved one passed over bringing messages of blessings or warnings. HOUSE has 10 hearts so i always give it a positive meaning of security n protection. definately not a ''haunted house'' or a place of misfortune. i hope you are not offended as i believe knowledge is power n every master is a student. THKU so much for all your personal touches as we know it OUR personal interpretation of reality n energy that makes the messages clear for others. i am an initiated Priestess of Ifa fulfilling a destiny of teaching, enlightenment n justice. Yara Ashefumi
Hi, Yara! So great to hear from you; you were literally on my mind recently! :-) Thank you for sharing your observations (I especially like the Clover/6 of Diamonds connection with you're being an herbalist!) and how you incorporate the playing cards more deeply into your interpretations. I think that's marvelous! One of the things that drew me to Lenormand was that it had playing card inserts, as I began my journey as a card reader with playing cards. And I'm not offended in the least. I've always said, from the first Lenormand video I posted, that I'm not the expert, or the be all-end all when it comes to Lenormand; I'm just sharing my own experiences and what's been helpful to me (my own interpretation of reality, as you say). Thankfully, my ego's not involved, because I know there are far more experienced Lenormand readers with great depths of knowledge, while I'm still scratching the surface. And that's okay. Thanks so much for watching the video, and for sharing your thoughts. You've given me something to think about with the playing cards inserts! :-)
James you are such a kind compassionate soul and a rarity on you tube n the world in general. peace on your journey. lets keep learning n sharing. good luck clovers for your channel.
Thank you, Yara, for such kind words. I appreciate them. And I know that what we see in another is within us as well, so the same holds true for you. And I'm receiving those clovers! :-)
That's very generous of you dear James to share your knowledge. Your videos are always a refresher course for me, and I often take away new ideas from them. Please send me your email address, so I can share with you my Lenormand meanings to further expand your "library."
Thanks, Beth, for watching the video; I'm always appreciative that such an experienced reader like yourself takes time to give my videos a look, and that you're getting some new ideas from them. :-) And I appreciate that you'd like to share your knowledge with me. Will be sending you my address! P.S. And you're just are generous, if not more so: You share so much in your videos and they are such a treat to watch! :-)
This was wonderful! I love the Lenormand and feel I'm ready to perform a spread and read except that once I start blending and comparing my translation to that of two guide books, I'm way off. How do you manage to stop fearing the negative cards. For example, as soon as the Fox appears, I immediately think that someone is sneaking things around me, personally, and yet, when I drew the other two cards and checked my guide books, it was nothing like what I had thought. I keep a journal, so the spread was as follows: Fox 14, Star 16, and Fish 34. I didn't think for one moment that card 14 and 16 would lead to serenity, promotion, or recognition. Please help me understand this process. Thank you so much for these learning videos. They are fabulous!
Thanks, Lourdes, for checking out the video; I appreciate it, and glad to hear you found it enjoyable! I understand about fearing that negative cards will come up in your readings (I'm currently working with Sibilla personally, and I'm experiencing the same thing with that system). I'll share with you what's helped me personally: I allowed myself to come up with some positive keywords for those "negative" cards. So, Fox for instance, in the challenging sense, can represent something wrong, a mistake, being conned, scammed, taken advantage of, etc. But, in the positive sense, Fox can represent being clever (as opposed to sly and cunning); being independent and a survivor (Foxes strive to survive); being strategic; and can indicate skill. That helped me see Fox in a different light. I would urge you to do the same. Sit with the cards you see as negative. See if you can find other, not-so negative associations for those cards. Then when they come up in a reading, you won't be so fearful. And now that I mentioned reading, what question (if any) did you pose to the deck when you pulled those cards? The cards are always read in context to the question. Without knowing your question, I would only be offering the most general of interpretations. I can offer this: You could read the cards with Stars as the central issue, and Fox + Fish would be a mirroring pair telling you more about Stars. For instance, Stars could represent a wish you'd like to have fulfilled, or a goal you'd like to achieve. Fox + Fish would then be advice on how to fulfill that wish or achieve that goal. You could also read the line in pairs: Fox + Stars, Stars + Fish, Fox + Fish. See what you come up with, and then string those together for your final interpretation. If I were reading this for myself, I would see it as "a strategy (Fox) to achieve the goal (Stars) of becoming financially abundant (Fish)." And then going further, Fox is a self-employment card (I'm self-employed); my skill (Fox) is in divination (Stars) as a coaching process (Stars); and that's how I make my money (Fish, which is also an entrepreneur card). See what I did there? Those meanings are relative to me, based on the life I live. Do that with the cards for yourself. What would each of those cards mean for you in the life you live every day? Those you won't find in a book. I hope I was able to help with my response.
Omg!! You helped me a great deal! I'm going to try all of the methods. The question I posed for the cards was: "What message is there for me today?" I'm in the process of launching a small home-based business. I love that you took the time to respond with great detail and simple understanding. Do you do coaching? You're one teacher I would love to learn from! Namaste.
I'm glad my response was helpful, Lourdes! Since you shared that you're in the process of launching your business, Fox can be your card for self-employment, so when it comes up, it may be wanting to talk to you about your biz. I'm so glad to hear that you're going to give those tips a try. I'd love to hear how they work for you. As for the coaching, you're the second person who's asked me that, so I'm going to have to give it some serious thought and consideration (and thank you for the super kind words)...
You're very welcome! Please do consider the couching aspect of the Lenormand. I would love to have my interpretations confirmed so that I can continue learning and get to the point of confidence. I'm sure many others will join in, once they're aware of the service and quality of instructions they will receive. Again, thank you.

Cards haves.i know that is playing cards.but i dont know the meaning.Thank you again
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Ana! I hope you also enjoy the videos that follow this one in the series. The playing card inserts in the Lenormand are interesting because they don't correspond to the suits as they would in traditional cartomancy (playing cards). I've noticed that, in Lenormand, most of the "negative" cards have a card from the suit of Clubs with it, whereas the most challenging suit to read in a deck of playing cards is typically Spades. So what I do is look at the face cards and sometimes read them as other people. It depends on the question, of course. P.S. Nice to know that we're not that far apart from each other! :-)
Not specifically, no. I have been doing a series on my personal study and practice of cartomancy with playing cards, though. If you're interested in checking it out, you'll find the playlist (so far) here: th-cam.com/video/VVwBukF7VyA/w-d-xo.html
Great video for me as a beginner of Lanormand. I see there is a playing card association for each card. Does that mean playing cards could be used if you don't have a Lanormand deck?
That's a great question! Absolutely! You can take a deck of cards, remove the Jokers, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s, and you'll have a Lenormand deck. That's what I did with a deck of cards, and I wrote the Lenormand names on them too. It makes for a great starter deck until the one you ordered arrives. ;-)
There are nuances to those cards you’ve pointed out. Rider is travel that is on land or short commute; Ship is long distance or foreign travel. The same with Rider and Letter: Rider delivers the message, while Letter is the message itself. While the topic might appear the same, each is a more specific aspect of that topic.
Why wouldn't you just use 29 as the partner (of the man), no matter what the sex of the person. That way you do not 'take out' a card from the deck (like the rider).
It’s a matter of personal preference. I could very well use Lady as the partner card for a gay man (or Gentleman for a lesbian), but that might not sit well with a client, as it’s important (to me) that he or she somehow see themselves reflected in the cards.
These videos have been really validating and given me confidence in trusting my keywords. As a result, they have helped me combine the cards-which has been a big challenge. I found Key+Clover means "flash of insight" or "glimpsing the answer in your minds eye," to me. Rider means travel, Ship means travel.
Rider means messages, Letter means messages.
