it's not a great engine, Peugeot was sued recently for it as it's quite unreliable. It might work fine for you, until it won't. The timing belt is soaked in oil for some unknown reason and this is why these engines fail.
@@Daumex Most engine's fail also do to poor maintenance, Stellantis is normally giving a 10 Year warranty on this problem if you do your maintenance every year at a official dealer. if you skip a year or don't go to a official dealer, then u lose your warranty. I drove a 308 puretech for 4 years and a Peugeot partner puretech for 2 and never had a problem. but indeed this is a know issue, but wich engine doesn't have problems these days... Now they need to check the belt every year with maintenance. And if it needs replacement, its under warranty. But it seems to happen alot more on the older model engines until 2017.
Honestly I wouldn’t even call it nitpicking. We are all adults so we understand trade offs. For instance, fixing the wobbly middle row adds weight to the seat mounts. Adding more weight here and there means needing a bigger engine. Needless to say the list can go on and on, and at the end of the day this car wouldn’t even be made.
Does the wear on this type of engine depend on the type of driving? Would it matter if you mainly drive in the city, on a flat road, on a highway or on a mountain road with elevation?
Nah, i diagree with the leg room issue, im 1.72m tall and a set the front seat in my comfortable position and did the same for the middle seats and i could fit in the rearmost seats.
If you want a real 7 seater go for, Renault Espace or, Ford Galaxy or, Seat Alhambra. But the 5008 might be okay for you, if you need 7-seater in some cases. I own a 5008 - 2018 with 1.6 diesel engine. What about the quality, I think the quality of Seat or Skoda is much better. The 1.2 turbo engine is okay for daily use. The space you have is equal to bigger looking Skoda Kodiaq. Your problem is, you don't like Peugeot at first sight...
