In 2005 I was very much attracted by newly launched Peugeot 407 but in the end I bought a Honda Accord 2.4 of similar price. I was lucky to make that decision.
This car is not for those who just want to move from point A and Point B with hassle free. It is complex car with many character. Best as 2nd car. If you are busy person, don't touch peugeot. As past owner of two models, i can guaranteed that my bmw is worse than peugoet except bmw is easy to find spare parts.

Peugeot car is built to learn knowledge, BMW is built to race. Own a Peugeot and after 8years I almost know how the car design with those parts as each break down will teach u some knowledge. Peugeot is a good teacher
Wouldn't that make Peugeot basically, a severely depreciating (rare spare parts while gets broken easily), pointless (can't go A to B hassle free) collectible (a car)?
I caught a glimpse of the new 408 near Sambal Hijau over last Friday and was for a long moment captivated by what I saw. As it drove past me I did wonder if it was a Proton as the badge between the two brands is almost indistinguishable. But after squinting a little more this car looked really good. The stance is nice, it is wide had such a nice profile to it that I can see this being a popular choice for the price bracket. Next, convinced it was the new 408 I quickly Googled it and briefly lusted over it. It is much better in person than pictures would justify. Nice one Peugeot, and yet again good review Hafriz!
I walk past a peugeot showroom everyday and the looks really intrigue me. So thank you for telling me the shortfalls of this car, i was almost blinded by a shiny new thing
Nice review on the 408, thanks for highlighting the poor build quality/fit and finish of the car..... This is typical teething problems of new models being assembled in Malaysia.... Moving forward would appreciate if you could highlight dismal build quality of CKD mercedes as well, as they are far worse that locally built proton and perodua.... thanks
For an idea, the design language combined of Lexus’s Suv (Front) and Lamborghini Urus (Rear), which has launched since 2018. Do you think these cars still looks attractive or outdated till this days?
Thank you! Personally I find the car just as stunning in the flesh. It's just different, which definitely stands out next to today's largely generic designs.
@@dexnpyactually there's not much of a difference between the two, as the GT's sunroof is a small one for the front only, not a large panoramic one. But the GT does "feel" tighter because of its black headliner.
I tried this car in a different country. The only thing stopped me from buying this was the sitting position… with my usual sitting position, I couldn’t see the instrument cluster properly. Adjusted my position so that I could see them but the steering keeps hitting my legs when I want to turn. I’m 178cm for your info… This is one car which is an absolute must to test drive to see if it’s suitable for you or not.

You should say Amen to that or else yiu be a mechanic for life as long as you have the Peugeot
Thanks for pointing out the tyre replacement costs, Hafriz. Wouldn’t have thought of it.
Yep, good looks come at a cost!
Same tyre spec can get around rm700 - 800, it depends which brand do you want

RM1500 per tyre is mental! Thanks for highlighting that.
Wait until you get a 911. RM2k each
problem with spare part, its difficult to get and aftersales is torturing, so expensive!

My friend has a Peugeot I think 2008. Very expensive maintenance. And sensor keep having issue

It a great design only question is how the look will feel in 3-4 years time (ie aged well)?

Through experience, I would never consider ever owning a Pug ever again. With its high maintenance cost and very bad after-sales service.

A lion and a tiger difference.
Hafriz, is headroom okay in the back of a 408 suv?
14:35
Just about adequate, but far from generous.
If you want headroom, get the Premium or Allure spec that doesn't have the sunroof. The GT spec headroom is terrible front and rear.

The car comes with 2 carpet, the coil mats is just an additional mats in which they should avoid!
