I remember living near the beach in Humboldt County California back in the 70’s when I was a little kid and my mom would have her little stack of LP’s on the old console and this was one she listed to. I remember playing in the sand with toys right outside the living room window and hearing her singing along and doing weekend chores. I miss those carefree days. I love you MOM
I just saw Todd live for the first time this past weekend when he came to my hometown. It was an incredible show! He and his voice are both still in fantastic shape! I also must have been the youngest person there (I’m 21) and some of the people around me were just astounded that I knew who Todd Rundgren was. I just happen to have always preferred the music my parents grew up with more than the music of my generation! On another note, what I wouldn’t give to be able to time travel so I could witness some of the greatest acts of the 70s, including Todd, Bowie, Queen, etc…
It makes so happy to know that there are young people who appreciate the music from this era. Be sure to listen to the 60’s too. I highly recommend you listen to the Yardbirds and follow the careers of the different artists who were in that band. And, of course, the Beatles…it goes without saying! I’ve never seen them given credit but I loved Mountain in the early 70’s; they started heavy metal in my opinion!
Its nice to know there are some younger people who know what great music and singers /bands we had back in the sixties, seventies, eighties and maybe some of the nineties not sure what happened to the music after that lol.
I barely remember Todd Rodgren, as I was 6 years old when this song came out. Absolutely LOVED this song as a little one, and still do. I'm 55 now. That's why people are so shocked. My parents sure weren't listening to this, but my oldest sister and brother were.
Absolutely … I have an 18 yr old daughter. Started her off on mostly 70’s songs when she was born till age 10. Badfinger still one of her fav groups. Funny. When she was two, I’d put an Elton John CD on in the truck. She’d be in her car seat, begging to hear Bennie and the Jets. She’d put her two hands out, and begin the piano intro before the song even came on. Now she loves Josh! LOL, lead for Greta Van Fleet. Gotta love it.
I love him. love his voice, love his style , love his performances, love his songs. I even love what he wore. WHY NOT! Its for entertainment purposes. I don't think he goes grocery shopping dressed like that and SO WHAT if he did? This song and his voice are amazing. thasss alllll
Of course you love what he wore! The guy was so SEXY in those gender-bending days. I loved those ac/dc days, and it truly was, JUST SAY WHY NOT?! about everything and everyone.
Todd. Is extremely talented ! This is one of my favorites of all time! No matter how many times I listen to this tune there is no chance at all of getting tired of it! Actually I need to listen to it more each time because this is a GREAT TUNE (GOLD)!!!!

Wonderful song! Awesome performer. This song played at least twice every day for weeks in the Senior Cafeteria during my lunch break in the spring of 1974 on our Juke Box. Loved it. Still do.
You know why I’m here.. listening to this song takes me back to high school when life was simple and so much fun. This is one of those songs you never forget ✌️

Todd's work with Utopia is another facet of his work. In the late 1970s a radio overnight DJ on an obscure FM radio station in Pennsylvania would play his albums. That got me interested in Todd and his musical skills.Dont forget he produced and played guitar on the historic Meatloaf Bat Out Of Hell album in 1977.

I had a 45 of it on constant repeat on my record player. Hearing him sing it in this concert is the best ! His voice and inflections were so perfect... better than the original recording. Now I'm 67... but for just a little while I'm 17 again.
A song that all great songwriters wish was their own. His performance here is incredible, connecting with his fans that way to a song like this really took the moment to a surreal level. 73-74 Bowie too had just transitioned from Ziggy to Diamond Dogs. It was an unforgettable time for music and fashion.
@ Wow really. Geez im young 60s so you have a headstart on me. That would of been an incredible live experience. Surreal. Ive always felt the show i saw in 78, Bowie's Heroes/Isolar World tour as the greatest ever. The setlist from the Low and Heroes albums plus the best from the Station and Ziggy albums, made for a surreal show. The neon bar lighting stageshow took the music even further and he had his greatest ever band with Davis, Murray, Alomar and Belew. How about you, do you have a show that stands out and is Todd the artist who gave you that show? Could it be this one from 74, or another year and anyone else who really has given you that great live concert experience? I would be interested in your thoughts on that thanks.

Wait...people stop being fans of music they loved enough to see in concert??? I mean, sure...I saw Madonna when I was 15, and I don't listen to her music anymore, but out of the hundreds of concerts I've seen in my lifetime, she is the ONLY artist whose music I don't still listen to anymore.
