  • Join us on this theological journey as we dive deep into John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion (1.5.6) to explore the profound connection between God's eternal power and His creation. In this video, we unpack Calvin’s rich doctrines, focusing on divine sovereignty, God's self-existence, and His eternal goodness.
Discover why Calvin argues that God's power is inseparable from His eternity, and how this leads to a greater understanding of God's unchanging nature, His role as Creator and Sustainer, and the implications of His tender mercies on all creation. We’ll delve into the importance of Calvin's classical theism and its grounding in Scripture, including Psalm 145:9, and examine why recognizing God’s goodness leads us to love and worship Him.
Perfect for theology enthusiasts, Calvinists, Reformed Christians, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of God's nature and providence. Whether you're new to Calvin’s Institutes or a seasoned reader, this detailed analysis will provide valuable insights for your spiritual growth and doctrinal understanding.

Calvinism was invented after 1500 years of Christianity, despite 1500 years of Christian elders' expositing the Scriptures, by a man who thought that he was not only more correct than all who came before him but also found no precedent for his teaching anywhere. So he wrote 'Institutes' as if we needed clarification.

@@lacree1022 you have never read the Institutes or Calvin's commentaries, if you had, you would know he is constantly quoting and referencing the church fathers.

@thecagestagecrusader book 2 ch 2 is especially dark, misanthropic and depressing. Maybe God chose to hate me? Maybe God wants to hate you? Calvin could never know.
      PS even Satan quoted God.

It is very unwise to turn to man-made theology rather than God's revelation in Scripture and the person of Jesus Christ Himself.

@@ThinkingBiblically , if you’re sitting there saying, “We don’t need teachers,” you might want to check your Bible-or better yet, check your pride. The fact that God has given the Church teachers is proof that the Spirit’s plan isn’t to have a bunch of lone rangers running around interpreting Scripture however they please. No, He’s built His Church on sound teaching-from Christ to the apostles, from the apostles to the pastors and elders, and from them to the people of God. Teachers are the very means by which the Spirit preserves His truth in the Church. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. Ephesians 4:11-12 makes it crystal clear: “He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Equipping the saints. That’s the job of a teacher, by the express appointment of the Holy Spirit. The idea that we don’t need teachers would make the Holy Spirit a liar, since He’s the One who has given these men to His Church in the first place!
