@@thecagestagecrusader Jesus CLEARLY says that we ARE TO BEWARE OF THE DOCTRINES OF MEN. Calvin HAD NO Divine sanction to teach, and no Authority to do so except that which he assumed onto himself. He gave us bumper sticker catch phrases that are designed to divide people Calvin MURDERED unwed mothers and at one point even told people there were only certain names they could give thier children. Calvin is NO Orthodox Christian. And he cannot claim the Authority of Orthodox Christianity.

The fact that God has given the Church teachers is proof that the Spirit’s plan isn’t to have a bunch of lone rangers running around interpreting Scripture however they please. No, He’s built His Church on sound teaching-from Christ to the apostles, from the apostles to the pastors and elders, and from them to the people of God. Teachers are the very means by which the Spirit preserves His truth in the Church. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. Ephesians 4:11-12 makes it crystal clear: “He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Equipping the saints. That’s the job of a teacher, by the express appointment of the Holy Spirit. The idea that we don’t need teachers would make the Holy Spirit a liar, since He’s the One who has given these men to His Church in the first place!

Scripture teaches the human will is in bondage to our sinful nature and cannot choose to do anything inconsistent with our nature. Once the rebirth caused by God the Holy Spirit takes place our nature is changed and we begin the sanctification process and start to conform ourselves to our new nature, that of Christlikeness. Before the rebirth, we do not want that sanctification Christ gives to us. I will be covering this topic in detail in later chapters, keep watching.
