They remind me of what was fun in the 80's. Going to a party with VH playing in the background. This is a moment in time that will never be replaced, I don't think there's been a rock band nearly as good. Fair Warning was my first VH record and I must've played it 1000 times. Way under rated by the critics, I think the whole band sounded amazing! I'm getting the remastered on cd.
Look at that 1981 audience, dam I miss that time. Rolling Stones just put out "Tattoo You", I was 19!! Now I am 59 and love the music of my generation. I saw Blondie in "82",she was a smoke show!!! She is 76 now..geez! Still pretty. Like the Stones sang" Time waits for NO one"...so if your young be drug free and enjoy your life.... The older you get, the older YOU get. This generation missed the amazing 70's and INCREDIBLE 80's. 😃👍
1978, 1979, and 1980 were no doubt awesome Vah Halen tours. To me, the 1981 VH tour will always be their best. I thought they were at their peak. Simply an incredible band and collection of songs hitting on all cylinders at this point. Oh to go back for just one night to see this tour!
In 2012 I was in a VH tribute act as M. Anthony where the drummer had the "Fair Warning" drums with the black and white stripes with every rack tom and four bass drums present. When he played "Hot for Teacher" on it well...let's just say it was really loud. We did a killer version of this song too. Any VH tribute act that skips "Hear 'Bout it Later" is a fraud pure and simple.
That big Lighted "VH" was at the END of ths show, it was the light rig over the stage durring the concert, and was dropped, or fell down, and then lit up. it was bright and it was HOT. Great Memories of the greatest damn band on earth. The Mighty Van Halen.
Danniel Amyx i saw them in Montreal during this tour. The front of the light rig pivoted down all lit up, and you could feel a lot of heat once it hit you. Freakin good times!
@@TheProducers That had to have been great times. One of my biggest questions is how could Eddie have tolerated Dave as long as he did, the band always sounded so killer, Dave such a"whatever" . This era of Halen I was only around 11 maybe, so I didn't get see them till a bit later. Always wondered what it would be like when Van Halen " for lack of a better way to put it" pretty much owned rock. If I'd only come along a few years earlier. Thank God for Michael Anthony, without him it might have been a great guitar show and, maybe a karate clown dancing act on the side, maybe, I don't know what to make of Dave.✌️
I don't know how many 50+ are here but I can tell you this; as soon as that riff starts, I'm seeing a starry night through the T-bar of a Z28 above me and a bonfire nearby with people all around in the distance, cuz that's how we did! 40 years later and when this song starts, you're right back there man! Miss ya badly EVH! You're always with us♥️👊😎
Yes the beautiful summer heat, dust from dirt bikes, and the woods. Smell of beer, everywhere, and bbq. In my neighborhood dusk was beautiful. We all kids running around everyone’s house windows open, screened of course and you could hear their tv cranked but most of house was outside. These shows was like going to a backyard party, and the band was known by everyone. And we all synced getting drunk together. And the music and fun was always equal.
The double bass outro by Alex is insane. The drum is so rock n roll . There will never be another band like them ever. I'm so glad I got to see them play. This never gets old.
Man I remember being 8 years old tryna play this song perfectly on my guitar. While other kids my age were playing outside, I was inside playing this intro over and over again... I can’t listen to this anymore without tearing up! RIP to my idol 😔🙏

I saw VH on this tour in Houston. They put on a fantastic show and were pretty much at their peak. Fair Warning is my favorite VH album and Eddie's guitar work on this song is his best. In the later reunions of VH, Michael Anthony is sorely missed, because he was the reason for VH's unique quality on backing vocals.
I agree and this might be an unpopular opinion but I think everything Van Halen after their 1984 album and Roth’s departure is mediocre in comparison, sammy hagar couldn’t do it and neither could an old tired david lee roth.

It was. I gotta go this night in Oakland. If you have no experience in this arena. It was sound proofed, for no reverb, and bouncing audio. None. It was all just like you see it. Watch DLR. not perfectly done, but the screams are on target. Eddie. Just about as clean as the studio. The entire two hours were special too watch. I saw them 6 times after this indoor show. They never were this good. I was at the US Festival in San Bernardino 1983. Eddie was on all night. DLR was just a bit drunk I think.....!

he also handled most of the business end of the Band and after he left Hagar took over that spot
EVH's transitions from rhythm to lead and back are flawless. R.I.P. GOAT.
I'm getting the remastered on cd.
paych GeRonimo my fave too and I even learned how to play unchained, wish I still had the 8 track
+Tom Miller Tom, I think we share the same attitude. Saw the MIGHTY Van Halen several times. 2015 tour most recent.
Few albums do that to me but fair warning can!
Oh, those parties...Arden Ave, I think? God Bless VH & Pasadena. California!
AT the time there was none better than these men! Thanks for all the memories when America is awesome, we are all awesome together.
It was awesome then....I always say that in the 80's the bad days were still the best of days...
Greatest rock band of all time. Rest Eddy.
Although he is undeniably one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Eddie held his own with his back up vocals.
Eddie and Michael probably have some of the best backup vocals especially Michael in tracks like On Fire and Dirty Movies
The massively underrated backing vox
Yea. it was never the same after the drama and Mike leaving,,,,
This song is so quintessential Van Halen. I have to listen to it every day, in order to get it out of my head.
The best band of all time, hands down
56 tomorrow and been listening since 81 kids.👍
Saw them live in 1980 - Lethbridge, Alberta. I was 16. It looked very much like this
Happy Birthday!
54 for me on April 23
@@KOSMICKEN09 Happy Birthday!
R.I.P. EVH - you were Massive. The Ultimate Rock Star.
Blaring this for my kids while they're playing video games. Lit up. Christmas time. Mom, angry AF.. Good times!
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
That should be in the bible.
The best of the very best.....David Lee and the boys!!!!!!
Michael was the key to the harmony. Please come back. You are needed
The Mighty Van Halen
This band will never be forgotton
Alex's best kit. Love that snare. You can hear It echo thru the stadium.
BadRonald1 that snare was brutal and perfect.
That’s the “Brown Sound.”
In 82 I painted my drums the same way...

Cool!!!! 👍
I dont have the words to express the feeling I have at Ed's passing...Hope someday we all get to hear him again....somewhere over the rainbow
Christopher Lee. yeah. just aint right I tell ya.
It hit hard. Neil Peart in January and EVH in October. 2020 sucked even without Covid!
yea even 4 years later I'm sitting here trying to figure out WTF happened...How did we have it so good, and now....
I was at this concert. I especially remembered this song. This venue had great accoustics, not a big place.
Eddie is the undisputed king. He revolutionized guitar play. Often imitated, never duplicated.
We will never see their likes again. The ultimate band.
Always wondered what it would be like when
Van Halen " for lack of a better way to put it" pretty much owned rock. If I'd only come along a few years earlier. Thank God for Michael Anthony, without him it might have been a great guitar show and, maybe a karate clown dancing act on the side, maybe, I don't know what to make of Dave.✌️
@@mitch5699 only Dave’s voice went with his era and that’s that love him or hate him u have to admit it
@@user-kp1ry3so2s yeah I gotta admit ..
Lights by Pste Angelis who would later become David Lee Roths partner doing videos for Eat em and Smile.
Hagar couldn't carry Dave's jock...THIS is the Mighty Van Halen folks.
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
Lee Roth is natural born showman and awesome singer. Hagar is only singer.
Dave actually sings his ass off here, one of the best VH songs ever, definitely my favorite album. RIP Ed..
4 guys enter the arena. 35000 people enter the arena. The 4 guys kill... Everyone. Best Band Ever.
Lmao and true
Beasts at this point !!!!!!
I saw them on this tour and went backstage to hang out with the band. Fun times!
So ridiculously good.
I saw them five times during the DLR era. What a great time to be alive.
I love this, Dave sings it straight for once (more or less) and the scream at 4:06 is killer, backing vocals right on...
Best song they ever wrote off their best album by far.
R.I.P. my guitar hero. You’ll never be forgotten. Seeing this show ( The night before this one) was the greatest concert of my life!
One of my all time favorite VH songs!!! 👍💪👌👏
Lets ALL Pray for Eddie as he is not doing Well due to his on going battle with Cancer in the Throat !
GOD BLESS U Eddie, we are all praying for your healthy return.
We want the Greatest Guitar Master to return and play a Show soon
Cipa Cipa he’s gotten too old and not physically equipped anymore for that
He passed away today :(
October 6th, 2020.
He is rocking the heavens
I saw VH on this tour in Houston. They put on a fantastic show and were pretty much at their peak. Fair Warning is my favorite VH album and Eddie's guitar work on this song is his best. In the later reunions of VH, Michael Anthony is sorely missed, because he was the reason for VH's unique quality on backing vocals.
I agree and this might be an unpopular opinion but I think everything Van Halen after their 1984 album and Roth’s departure is mediocre in comparison, sammy hagar couldn’t do it and neither could an old tired david lee roth.
35 yrs they have been my favorite band, I moved here from Iran in 1983, I was poked in the eye by American hard rock music and Van Halen became my idols! Long live the mighty Van Halen
god i miss this band
Growingup In This era was great! So many good bands to go see in concert!
Eddie Van Halen is and always will be the greatest guitarist of all time just totally out of this world nobody will ever be like him he is the man the greatest he brought something different to our world and it just mystified hypnotized everybody and everybody wanted to be Eddie but to this day nobody can do what he did
ONE OF THE GREATEST
even better than the studio version, damn...
ohhh i'm fairly sure there's a bit of 'studio' involved in this version too ;)
This live version captures Van Halen at their best
This has be doctored after the fact.
@@DavianSinner what’s doctored about it?
Van Halen at their PEAK @ BEST !!! Loved this album best of all !!! They were absolutely the biggest band in the world here PERIOD !!!! Glad we got these videos to remember The Mighty Van Halen!!!!
my bro and i would scream at each other if any of these VH 1981 tunes would come on. I would sprint halfway through the house to watch this on MTV in the 80s.
Michael Anthony has always been VanHalens secret Weapon!
This is when Van Halen shined!!!!!
As Ed once said..'Alex is the rock and I'm the roll' ......so darn true. They lock in a groove & never stop.
Eddies clean tone is so spiritual
1981 was an amazing year for rock music.... as the mighty Van Halen shows us all here! Rest In Peace brother Edward! 🤘
I was a bit too young - can you imagine going and seeing VH, Blizzard of Ozz, Rush, Stones....my God.
One of my top three Van Halen songs ever.
One of the coolest rock songs ever written , period.
That guitar tone is UNREAL!!Otherworldly
The dance hop at :34 seconds is the stuff of legends. That is how you start a show.
Was actually their 3rd song of the set
@@VintageOnline100 either way… awesome.

Hey Geno, how many times do you find yourself going back and watching these videos? I was also there in Oakland. I was a little older at 18. I’m 56 now and every now and then I have to watch these. Nothing has or will ever match this for me. So glad we were there 🤟
