Yes it is, investing platforms ask for KYC to help protect you from fraudsters. Without the ID and selfie, anyone who hacks the platform can steal from your account plus there are some who may use fraudulent details to register so they may be untraceable should they commit fraud.
When it comes to investing, no one can tell you for sure, but for I can tell you that I profited. from day 1 because I did a bit of research to see which stocks were trending and bought that in real time. I don't think it's a long term strategy but it surely helps with a lot of risk. I would suggest investing in solid companies that have been around for long and are stable like, Microsoft, ABSA, Apple etc. Short term, look at trending stocks like NVIDEA.
