THIS episode represented everything I love about this show. It had a serious tone (not to confuse with dark like S3), it was emotional, it looked great and the writing was SMART. And FINALLY, Barry could only rely on himself like he does in the comics. And the fact that it wasn't connected to the Thinker at all, shows how much the main plot sucks in comparison.
Well this catastrophe happen on a City wide level, as the Thinker is working on a kill off Team Flash/Bus Metas level. If u eradicate the Flash who will stop the city wide attacks so they are both good plots in their own way. It also means the world won't stop turning because you stop Devoe and that's all Flash has been thinking about lately
He didn't rely on himself though, he relied on Cisco, Jesse, Harry, Jay and finally Iris was the one who came up with the solution in the end, which was fucking retarded and just highlights how stupid the CW's writing is.
Enter Flashtime is one of my top two favourite episodes in the entire show; psychological, intense, taut, extremely well-written, visually stunning, Jesse Quick and Jay Garrick returned and Grant Gustin once again have the performance of his life. This was serious Season 1 & 2 levels of high-quality. If only the whole of Season 4 had been this epic.
One of the best episodes of the series. I loved that intense scene with Barry and Iris in the end. Grant absolutely killed it. Loved that Iris was the underdog sho saved everyone. Such a beautifully directed episode and the visuals were just stunning.
This was easily the best episode of this season to me and is also one of the best episodes of the entire show imo. The fact that after 3 seasons, they still manage to come up with ways to challenge Barry like they did in this episode is great. These are the type of ways I want a Speedster to be challenged, not something which he can clearly do but for some reason doesn’t do it until the end of the episode because it severed the plot, No! But clever ways like this. The drama was great, this was one of Grant Gustin’s best acted episodes, he sold me on being helpless to find a solution. Great to see Jake and Jessie again, I absolutely loved that moment with her and Harry at the end, Harry continues to be one of my favorite characters on Flash! it’s funny that an episode this great wasn’t even focused on the Devoe conflicted lol.

SW223000 Yeah I agree, and especially with a budget that isn’t large and this season especially he has to take on new meats each week so not every one of them will be consistent as far as his speed. But sometimes they make him get hurt from incredibly stupid things and at those specific instances, that I can’t turn a blind eye. But it is what it is, Flash is just too powerful a character and that’s why he hadn’t got a video game yet, that’s why he hadn’t got a movie yet, because his power is too hard to get right.
the problem i have with this episode is that it makes flash very powerful and much faster than he used to be, having a nuclear reaction be still for 40 mins would be way faster than he ever used to be, and makes it so that he should easily have been able to defeat DeVoe much earlier by just catching him off guard with speed.
yeah, obviously they can't just let Barry win right away otherwise the show would be shit. But when the character has power you have to let him use it sometime, maybe on lesser villains. My favorite flash moment wasn't even in flash, it was legends when RF killed ray by taking out his heart. I just wished they'd have more moments of Barry being a badass/ using his speed intelligently.
I only totally just got that she meant Caitlin lol She said Caity and I heard it like "Katie" and was like "who the hell is Katie?" Has she ever been called 'Caity' before as a nickname? I don't remember ever hearing it.
That coffee scene at Jitters jump scared the heck out of me. I haven't been jump scared like that since the Doctor Who episode Blink involving the Weeping Angels.

Loved the teamwork in this episode spearheaded by Barry’s strength and speed. Every single person contributed a fragment to the plan. Iris pulled it together and Barry was a freaking badass and was able to pull it off.
That expression of mysterious girl probably because caitlin a.k.a killer frost went full villain in the future. She is not get used to good caitlin. I'm still think that she is Nora or Dawn Allen.
I'm pretty sure that the voice of Jesse's mom was provided by the same person (Bre Blair) who was Earth 1 Wells' girlfriend Tess in Season 1 of the Flash. They even repeated a line of dialogue (...in the vast night sky, you, Harrison Wells, are the only star I see.)

I would want someone to explain me a couple of things: 1) If Cisco can't open a breach because there is no time in flashtime, how did jesse go to Earth-3 and bring Jay? Are they as fast as Zoom in Season two and they can open their own breaches? 2) If that is right, why didn't they open a breach to a dead Earth and send the bomb there like Cisco suggested? Please, I think I miss something...

they don't need the breach room to go to other earths, i just don't think they can really pinpoint which earth they go to as accurately as cisco or the breach room let alone an earth they've never been to. even cisco had to be told which earth was a dead earth before opening a breach to it and it's part of his powers to know.
Y'know, this would be cool as a series finale imo. Because, with how all this works, it's amazing how fast Barry became. This truly shows is strongest ability, being able to solve a problem in under a second. He had 3 picoseconds and had to pool together all his intelligence and resources to solve this. If Wally was there, it would be cool for all the Speedsters to work together to try and solve this, then evidently leaving Barry (the fastest) to solve it on his own once they all tire out. I also like your ideas of having Devoe help too, solving it with the pocket dimension idea. It also would have made a great solution. But either way, this was by far one of my favourite episodes.

Great episode ,possibly the best of the season .some people may have issues with how Iris played a part in resolving it but I didn't mind it . I do like WestAllen (weird adopted brother sister thing aside ).i thought the tension was well done and they executed the concept well . The Harry-Jessie subplot felt like it came out of nowhere but it did have a nice emotional payoff . I wonder who Jay is training to replace him and when Dawn will reveal herself to the rest of the team
When Barry said he couldn't think of what to do I was convinced he was going to ask the thinker because at the beginning of the episode we learned that he can teleport really fast and they can track it so I thought a blip would appear on the map near the end of the episode and Barry would go to him and ask for help because I doubt having the city get nuked was part of defoes master plan

There Are 2 Different Ways Barry Runs Back In Time. Barry Can Deliberately Run Back In Time Like He Did At The End Of Season 2. & The Other Is When He "Ghost." So When You (Eric) Says That He Ran In Time Against Vandal Savage, He Actually Did That On Accident. If You Can Remember When He Was Running To Meet With Oliver & Malcolm To Talk To Savage He "Ghosted" (He Saw Himself In The Future) Which Is The Speed Force Basically Saying, Is That Something Horrible Will Happen And He'll Run Back In Time. Therefore There Are No Consequences To Doing That Because The Speedforce Is Bringing Him Back In Time To Fix What'll Happen Before It Happens. Only When Deliberately Runs Back In Time (Flash Point) Is When There Will Be Major Consequences That'll Carry Over.
and he even said that if he moved the bomb time would catch up and the bomb will explode because the speed force is affecting things around him.so if he ran with the bombe it would have exploded
I guess Flash's gonna use Flashtime to slow down the opening of DeVoe's pocket dimension so he can get in. He was trying it in the beggining of the episode, trying to cross Cisco's breach as it closes but he wasn't fast enough
Red Scorpion Meh, I wouldn't say "smartest". Everyone is brilliant in their own way (including Iris) and had very limited time to contribute. Iris heard all the ideas then Barry triggered a memory of hers when he called her his lightening rod. Iris' best asset is her instincts. She used her common sense and memory to save everyone. She also told Barry from the start, to just stop and relax, as that is also helpful in beating the bad guys. And in the end that's what saved them.
This episode was so good, i felt tense the whole second of the issue, hehe. I did notice Iris is the only one who did not get tired in Flashtime. I guess I assume that the lighting grab the ball to bring it back to the speedforce, just the discharge of energy help stop the bomb too.
So Barry can split a millisecond into like an hour since when is he that fast? He was struggling to make it to Cisco’s breach in time at the start of the episode
Breaches close faster I think, but yes technically the flash is 1 trillion times the speed of light, because one of the villains he fought could shoot light beams and he made LIGHT look still meaning he's fast as shit.
This was one of the best eps. of this season and it didn't even include the season villain. I just think this season has been really slow in terms of moving the story forward. The Flash just haven't been the same since season 1-2.I think the idea of having Devoe as a villain was a great one but I just don't like how the writing is for this villain. I think that The Flash maybe should try to have one villain for the first half of the season and another for the next just to keep it fresh kind of like AOS does.

May I just point out that the speedforce is infinite is size btw. So that explosion won't do anything. Also the speed force is a conscious entity so it knows that isn't the real Barry Allen. The speedforce was really just helping him out. ALSO BARRY HAS HIS OWN INDIVIDUAL SPEED FORCE.
I like how in this episode Barry is super fast and running to different places and stuff, but then in previous episodes he gets hit by dinosaurs tail or can't outrun some thugs, who literally are just 5 - 10 seconds ahead of him. In my opinion, its stupid... Show writers really need to think about how fast is Barry and how to portray him and his abilities..

I feel like one of the bigger signs of speed inconsistency in the show was from last season when Killer Frost escaped STAR Labs and Barry ran after her literally not even 5 seconds later, claimed he searched the whole building, and says that she got away. How does Killer Frost suddenly have super speed?
I love how cause it speedster time, it 8 mins ago and not like several hours / day ago, hehe. I like to add, just cause they moved so far here, it might been thanks to an adrenal rush / really pushed his body to the limit to do the speeds he was doing, which put him into a few days bed rest. I think that helps atm at least a little not to be OP.
When this episode first aired, I really expected it to cause a bunch of the Eden Corps soldiers and cops to get powers. Maybe they’re still going to do that eventually.
I’m really glad they changed the color of the speed force from blue to red it gives it more of a unique appearance instead of just looking like a slightly different colored version of a breach. “You are the only Star I see” same quote from earth prime Tess Morgan. What if mystery girl is the speedster that Jay said he would train and she is sort of like a time remnant from a future where DeVoe won and she came to make sure they win? I dunno I’m just spitballing.
This is the perfect episode of the Flash. In my opinion, this is what the show SHOULD be instead of these season-long arcs where we know the bad guy wobn't get caught until the finale.
I can't get over the fact that most of this episode took place in a matter of a second is just insane to me and why i love the flash but i hate that they are going to most likely ignore it also i watched a video on how fast barry is for season 4 and at the end it came out to him having a minimum top speed of 600,000mph so idk how barry has not beat the thinker yet

What's crazy with this one is the radiation pulse from a nuke moves at the speed of light, everyone at ground zero should have taken a fatal dose the moment the reaction began. The effects of the blast wave a would move at the speed of sound.
a little off topic, but it has to be so weird for everyone he talked to while at super speed because as soon as he let go, to them they were still awake and barry just wasn’t there. I know that’s the case all the time because he’s fast, but in this case they didn’t even see his lightning; he had to have just poofed out from their perspective which is really cool when you think about it
Devoe has this planned out and knew Barry would have to get the DNA out of the speedforce to being the speedforce storm back into the world! He has Barry doing everything he wants him to do.
Devoe's plan isnt to explode the bomb, but he knows the only way for Flash to save the day, and that is his plan. Devoe is manipulating everything and forcing Barry to carry out his plan for him. Everything is Devoe related. He likely wanted Flash to mess with the speed force, or to force Garrick to retire and train his replacement. In some way, Devoe got what he wanted out of this.

There Are 2 Different Ways Barry Runs Back In Time. Barry Can Deliberately Run Back In Time Like He Did At The End Of Season 2. & The Other Is When He "Ghost." So When You (Eric) Says That He Ran In Time Against Vandal Savage, He Actually Did That On Accident. If You Can Remember When He Was Running To Meet With Oliver & Malcolm To Talk To Savage He "Ghosted" (He Saw Himself In The Future) Which Is The Speed Force Basically Saying, Is That Something Horrible Will Happen And He'll Run Back In Time. Therefore There Are No Consequences To Doing That Because The Speedforce Is Bringing Him Back In Time To Fix What'll Happen Before It Happens. Only When Deliberately Runs Back In Time (Flash Point) Is When There Will Be Major Consequences That'll Carry Over.
and he even said that if he moved the bomb time would catch up and the bomb will explode because the speed force is affecting things around him.so if he ran with the bombe it would have exploded
I guess Flash's gonna use Flashtime to slow down the opening of DeVoe's pocket dimension so he can get in. He was trying it in the beggining of the episode, trying to cross Cisco's breach as it closes but he wasn't fast enough
Iris was the smartest one in this episode
Red Scorpion Meh, I wouldn't say "smartest". Everyone is brilliant in their own way (including Iris) and had very limited time to contribute. Iris heard all the ideas then Barry triggered a memory of hers when he called her his lightening rod. Iris' best asset is her instincts. She used her common sense and memory to save everyone. She also told Barry from the start, to just stop and relax, as that is also helpful in beating the bad guys. And in the end that's what saved them.
This episode was so good, i felt tense the whole second of the issue, hehe. I did notice Iris is the only one who did not get tired in Flashtime. I guess I assume that the lighting grab the ball to bring it back to the speedforce, just the discharge of energy help stop the bomb too.
So Barry can split a millisecond into like an hour since when is he that fast? He was struggling to make it to Cisco’s breach in time at the start of the episode
Breaches close faster I think, but yes technically the flash is 1 trillion times the speed of light, because one of the villains he fought could shoot light beams and he made LIGHT look still meaning he's fast as shit.

This was one of the best eps. of this season and it didn't even include the season villain. I just think this season has been really slow in terms of moving the story forward. The Flash just haven't been the same since season 1-2.I think the idea of having Devoe as a villain was a great one but I just don't like how the writing is for this villain. I think that The Flash maybe should try to have one villain for the first half of the season and another for the next just to keep it fresh kind of like AOS does.

May I just point out that the speedforce is infinite is size btw. So that explosion won't do anything. Also the speed force is a conscious entity so it knows that isn't the real Barry Allen. The speedforce was really just helping him out. ALSO BARRY HAS HIS OWN INDIVIDUAL SPEED FORCE.

I like how in this episode Barry is super fast and running to different places and stuff, but then in previous episodes he gets hit by dinosaurs tail or can't outrun some thugs, who literally are just 5 - 10 seconds ahead of him. In my opinion, its stupid... Show writers really need to think about how fast is Barry and how to portray him and his abilities..

I feel like one of the bigger signs of speed inconsistency in the show was from last season when Killer Frost escaped STAR Labs and Barry ran after her literally not even 5 seconds later, claimed he searched the whole building, and says that she got away. How does Killer Frost suddenly have super speed?
I also thought the same he should have worked with DEVOE on it :P the city was gonna get destryed that would have been a better approach

I've (loosely) seen this type of episode before in the anime Cyborg 009, when 009 goes so fast (do to a malfunction) that is like is in frozen time.
The idea of this episode is awesome!!!!
I love how cause it speedster time, it 8 mins ago and not like several hours / day ago, hehe. I like to add, just cause they moved so far here, it might been thanks to an adrenal rush / really pushed his body to the limit to do the speeds he was doing, which put him into a few days bed rest. I think that helps atm at least a little not to be OP.
When this episode first aired, I really expected it to cause a bunch of the Eden Corps soldiers and cops to get powers. Maybe they’re still going to do that eventually.

This is the perfect episode of the Flash. In my opinion, this is what the show SHOULD be instead of these season-long arcs where we know the bad guy wobn't get caught until the finale.

What's crazy with this one is the radiation pulse from a nuke moves at the speed of light, everyone at ground zero should have taken a fatal dose the moment the reaction began. The effects of the blast wave a would move at the speed of sound.
a little off topic, but it has to be so weird for everyone he talked to while at super speed because as soon as he let go, to them they were still awake and barry just wasn’t there. I know that’s the case all the time because he’s fast, but in this case they didn’t even see his lightning; he had to have just poofed out from their perspective which is really cool when you think about it

Devoe's plan isnt to explode the bomb, but he knows the only way for Flash to save the day, and that is his plan. Devoe is manipulating everything and forcing Barry to carry out his plan for him. Everything is Devoe related. He likely wanted Flash to mess with the speed force, or to force Garrick to retire and train his replacement. In some way, Devoe got what he wanted out of this.

maybe since the quark sphere mixed with barry's DNA and speedforce energy, and its so atomically compact and dense, the speed force prefers it over Barry because the sphere is more dense with energy and barry material in an atom sized volume than Barry is??? I dont get why the prison went after the sphere and not Barry. Maybe it was a variable the thinker already had accounted for thats why he didn't meddle with it.
