I agree! And it pulls the natural diversity off, I believe. Perhaps it's just because I grew up in a very diverse country in terms of biomes, but Hoenn being that diverse feels correct in my head in a way that other regions don't quite manage. That doesn't mean they're bad by any means, they just lack that extra flavour I like to see. Also why I feel, if they don't make my country into a Region, that I would live there.

I really miss when Pokémon events felt like ACTUAL events. Now it's always some delivery guy bringing you legendary Pokémon like it's an Amazon package, or there's some random area in the game that legendary & mythical Pokémon use like a luxury Airbnb getaway for some reason.
In fact you can still access this island in a legit emerald cart with zero external hardware by using the pomeg berry glitch and using your PC boxes as code to create an egg that when hatched will teleport you on to the island. I did this myself to shiny hunt Mew genuinely one of my best moments in Pokemon.
It's also technically not false because you can catch every single pokemon in every single generation but the fact is you're going to have to trade up ones that aren't in the game and people think you cannot trade let's say Pikachu from generation one all the way to generation 9 Well you actually can you may need a few things but you can do it You would want a Nintendo 64 with a copy of pokemon stadium 1 or 2 I can't remember then you want a Nintendo game cube with the camera working right now I'm trying to blank and then the gameboy transfer Stuff and you can trade up through there from gen 1 to gen 3 And then from there you can put it in a Ds with a gameboy port move it up to gen 4 and then put it in the pokemon home and move it all the way up to Gen 9 your welcome and theirs videos on this
@@dylanwicklund5129uhm, actually you can’t move any Pokémon from original gen1 or gen2 games to gen3. There are hacky ways to do it but it’s not officially possible. You can gen3 to gen4, gen4 to gen5 and then gen5 to Pokémon home. With 3DS virtual console you can play gen1 and gen2(i think) games and then move your Pokémon directly to home, but you can’t use your original save file from the old cartridges. Stadium released for Nintendo switch, but I don’t know if you can connect it to home.

@@PeruvianPotato the only problem is the size of a lot South American countries 😔 Europe has small countries, so a whole country can be one region. Japan is broken up into many pokemon regions. The region based on the US is only based on a small part of it. And Alola is smaller Hawaii. I really wish they'd make at least one region based on somewhere in S.A., but even me, trying to make a Peru region, have found it Hard to fit So Much Space and Diversity into a region in a natural way. But god would I scream of joy if they did it at some point. I suppose they could do the smaller countries though, but then they'd be missing some of the diversity.
They gatekept a lot of Pokémon for one reason or another. Special event Pokémon especially upset me as a kid, because I knew I would never get to experience it while other people who were better off than me would. That's why I stopped caring about official releases. I only play romhacks and mods, now.
In the early games it made sense, for Gens 1 and 2, event Pokémon could only be distributed by physically trading with a specially made game that the even people had, this greatly limited distribution But even today, where it all done through the internet, there are still region specific events (though thankfully not for mythicals) and that’s just unnecessary

I dont know if uf forgot r just didn't mention this but the logs of cinnabar Island in fire red and leaf green are actually continued here. A scientist actually survives mewtwos attack. After realizing that what they did was wrong, he actually found mew in the lab and brought it to faraway Island using the old sea map. Unfortunately after bringing mew here he died at some point. There seems to have been some extreme weather so even the signs where he wrote his last log are very faded. Also cannonballs the old sea chart ended in hoenn after all.

Small tip: There's a way to catch a legitimate Mew in Emerald in any game version even without the event. Use the Pomeg Glitch to get yourself the Old Sea Map. Now you can enter Faraway Island and catch yourself a Mew. That's how I got mine.

@@partymartin28, trivia like this is never not important or at least not worth mentioning. Sure you could glitch Mew into the game, but not many people could say you got Mew through a legit event. The history behind it is cool too, but I think the neat part is being able to shiny hunt Mew. I am pretty sure you could technically get a shiny Mew in gen 1 because "shiny" pokemon had certain values that existed and made the Pokemon shiny when traded to gen 2, but it is definitely tougher to see and may take more time. Overall, it is cool to see that this is one of very few Mew events back in the day and that they had some plan for Mew beyond being a taken slot just to make the Pokedex harder to fill up. And I am sure it at least had a unique capture location too that could be bragged about
I still have my copy of emerald with the old map. And you can actually still get the old map using the mixed data function. Has to be one of my favorite events out of any of the Pokemon games.
The amazing thing is that in the 3rd gen TCG they made a block of sets, the very last ones of this gen where researchers were looking for mew and in the last set we can see mew as a shiny card in a set located in a remote island
ToysRus had a giveaway when I was a kid during Red and Blue in the US. They gave out little thing with stickers of various Pokémon on it. In the very center was a Mew sticker. If you pulled up the Mew sticker and it said “you caught me” you got to come back in with your gameboy and get a Mew with the creators name attached to it on the information/ stats page. My mom got one of the things of stickers for me and sure enough I won. I was so happy to have a mew back then and 151/151 my Pokédex on my red cartridge without having to resort to cheats.
I remember either using Warp Codes with Gameshark or manually placing warps using Advanced Map to teleport to Faraway Island for Mew, Naval(Navel?) Rock for Lugia and Ho-Oh and Birth Island for Deoxys. Ah the nostalgia of 2009.
So long as the getting of the item wasn't itself an experience, we didn't miss out, we just had to cheat a lil bit (this is what happens when you make a game to catch em all and then geolock mon lol)

In person distribution, and all events were unavailable to me as a kid because I was a kid. This feature will never not make me mad because I missed out
they likely MEANT to have events in other regions but those plans fell through AFTER the physical release of the game. back in GBA/DS days it wasn't possible to change things like that over the internet. well, in the DS days it became possible to do events over wifi, but they still couldn't change/update the game itself.
I have one Shiny Mew from Faraway Island, which was RNGd in Emerald. Not by me but by people I trust. That mew is somewhere in gen 6-7 boxes right now lol
That's actually rather sad. Theses pokemon have a lot of lore attached to them. They could make something really cool in game, but instead, they squander that opportunity with those giveaways and the weird mechanics that they have been using for the last few generations. They really need to rethink the way that they are doing things.
I always picture mew in this sorta habitat because of the original mew two strikes back movie where the scientists are looking for mew in a beautiful jungle scape
Fun fact, this is the Mew that was experimented on in the Cinnabar Mansion. There's a sign you can read which is blurred out, and it's a continuation of the diary entries you can find in the mansion. It mentions how no humans set foot on the island and that hopefully if someone ever does come here, they're a kind hearted person
I got to experience this using a game shark. Forever call correctly. If you write off the side of the map on the island that Darkrai is on, you get there

I managed to get there in my Emerald playthrough and it was worth it. But it is a must if you want Mew to obey you in any Gen 3 game.

Fun fact, this is the Mew that was experimented on in the Cinnabar Mansion. There's a sign you can read which is blurred out, and it's a continuation of the diary entries you can find in the mansion. It mentions how no humans set foot on the island and that hopefully if someone ever does come here, they're a kind hearted person
